  • "Good points: good location for visiting the local area."

Plenty of off street parking. Spacious house. Newly fitted main bathroom. Good sized kitchen with everything you need. Considering it is a dog friendly property, there was no doggy smell. Secure garden. Fairly quiet area. Not so good points: We had a 2yo toddler with us and the property wasn’t really toddler friendly. We asked for a stair gate, but only a stair dog screen was provided at the bottom of the stairs which meant we had to and buy a gate for the top of the stairs. The garden area had a rose bush with large thorns. This is obviously someone’s home as there’s far too much personal stuff in drawers and cupboards, lots for a toddler to get into mischief with. The swings could have done with a toddle seat. The grass could have been mown - was overdue a cut and some TLC. The property itself is a little tired and could do with a refresh of decor and facilities. The bath towels provided were a little on the small side. The noise from the road could be heard at night, something double glazing would eliminate. Instead of a fish pond, a hot tub would have be a good addition to this property. Overall, it was OK.

Hi Andrew. Thank you for your feedback. I however feel you have been a little unkind with your review. You know the property is a home as you spoke to my neighbour and she told you it was my home. There are no personal things left in the property just things that I am happy for people to use. I have a two year old grandson who I look after regularly and the swing is fine for him. The fish pond was my late husband’s and I will not be replacing with a hot tub, As this has memories for me and my son. The price would also have to be put up because of maintenance and electric and water. I’m sorry my decor does not suit your taste but it was decorated last year and I am very happy with the way my house looks. The grass could not be cut as it had been raining on the Saturday you arrived. The rose bush was cut back but has since grown while people are in the property. The bath towel s are regular sized and we have never had a problem with this before. Tbh I have stayed at places where these are not provided. We hope you enjoyed the complimentary tea, coffee, wine and biscuits that were left and are left for every customer. It would have been nice to have been told that things had been broken. • "The house is lovely, spacious and unlike most houses it has everything you need."

Soaps, cleaning supplies, cling film and foil, tea towels, towels lots of cooking supplies etc were supplied which was a pleasant surprise. Lots of room for parking, big garden which isn’t overlooked. We were a party of 5 and a 9 month old baby. I would say the property isn’t really suitable for a baby on the move. We had to move a few things out of the lounge and into the conservatory and use the table to block off the fireplace and not use the conservatory, not really a big deal. Although the house was cleaned, they do allow dogs downstairs so inevitably there are still hairs around which stuck to the toys we had for the baby so lots of cleaning had to be done. (Comes with having a baby though!) We did bring a blanket of our own to put down but the lounge is a huge space so not everything could be covered. None of the curtains are blackout either so myself and the baby would wake early because of the light. Not an issue in winter though. The window in the silver room has a huge cobweb at the top and a dead spider but can be easily cleaned so again not a big deal. The shower head is the same size as the shower meaning you have to turn it off to wash your hair and apply soap as there is no room to get out from under the water. I would say that’s the only downside to the property. It was lovely to have the pond and listen to the water running. All of the rooms are spacious. The Green room could benefit from a new mattress as you really feel the springs, between that and the metal frame which creaks it’s quite noisy if you toss and turn a lot in your sleep. Each room I believe had a blanket available which was nice. The washing machine and tumble dryer were larger capacity drums which was great. I’d definitely recommend to others.

Hi Hannah. Thank you for you feedback. FYI the navy room has black out curtains. The others however do not. I apologise about the cobweb that was overlooked by the cleaners. I will let them know for future cleans Regarding not being suitable for an infant. I have young grandchildren that stay at the house and we have never have any problems. I think people forget that this is actually my home and that’s why the supplies are left as I leave them when I move out and are happy to let people use them. Regarding the dogs. It’s so hard to please everyone m, if I didn’t let dogs in the property then people would ask about that as we have that before Property Owner

  • "Very good property - good sized rooms etc."

The kettle is on it's way out - not staying on. Dish washer doesn't always work - struggled to get it working. Apart from those 2 minor items a very good place.

Hi Graham. Thank you for your feedback. The kettle has been replaced as we went to use it and realised that it was broken. The dishwasher was working fine. Instructions are in house guide. But has been reset and is now working as it should. Property Owner

  • "The only thing missing is a hoover strong enough to clean up."

The appliances such as dish washer and washing machine were in need of a deep clean which we did before using. If the cleaners would check this it would be advantageous.

Hi Wendy, thanks for your feedback. The hoover was working fine. It’s not ment to be used to suck up sand from cars. Also the cleaner used the same hoover to clean the property after you left and it was working fine. Also dogs were not permitted upstairs stated on house rules. The hoover had to be empty twice upstairs as it was full of dogs hairs. The dishwasher still had the dishwasher cleaner that I put in the week previously. I will talk to the cleaner about the washing machine. Many thanks Property Owner

  • "Well equipped spacious house but cleaning left a lot to be desired!"

For example chairs dirty with food bits on them. Taps smeary and several cobwebs . Property was lacking any useful local information such as details of footpath up to the Square, bus timetables, facilities in St Just, etc. Would also have been nice to have some guidance with TV workings. However overall we enjoyed our stay visiting nearby beaches and relaxing in the comfortable seating in the sunny garden.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate the information you have given and can confirm we have had our cleaners thoroughly gone through the house to rectify the issues. With regards to the chairs we have steamed cleaned them and we are organising them to be reupholstered at the end of the season. The information pack has been updated with new information. • "The property on the whole was really lovely, however there are areas for improvement."

There was no welcome pack for guests informing then of emergency contacts such as doctor, pharmacy etc. No helpful advice/details on transport such as taxis/bus services, hospitality in the local town, places of interest. We had to hunt for manuals on how to use the oven - incidentally the gas hob buttons were extremely easy to turn on without realising. The dining chair covers were filthy, there were crumbs in the groove of the dining table. There were no instructions on how to use the TV. The exterior door from the conservatory to the garden kept sticking and was difficult to lock. Decided not to open it just in case we could not lock it again. We were also taken aback by the request to feed the fish and water the plants if it was really hot weather. The fish pond itself could do with cleaning and the water was quite low....felt very sorry for the fish! However, we did feel very comfortable in the house, the beds were comfy and we had a very lovely, chilled holiday in a very beautiful, friendly part of Cornwall. This would be an absolutely fabulous place with a little TLC. Thank you.

Thank you for you for your feedback. We appreciate your comments , however we were aware of the cushions on the kitchen chairs, but as the property has been occupied over the summer months we have not been able to get this rectified. When the property becomes available they will be upholstered. We focused our attention on getting the property ready and it slipped our attention of doing the welcome pack. This is now in the process of being done. This is our first year with Cornish cottage holidays, we hope you enjoyed the wine and biscuits and complementary tea, coffee that we leave for each guest. Thank you for letting us know about the crumbs on the table. We will contact the cleaners about this , however we do have to say we cannot fault their cleaning. Regarding the fish pond, the fish have lived in the pond for many years now and the pump gets cleaned weekly. You cannot clean out a fish pond too much as the PH levels in the pond gets compromised and we could lose all our fish by doing this. Regarding the water level, the week you stayed was a particularly hot week and the water must of evaporated. It is now full due to the rain and also we are on a hose pipe ban in Cornwall. We ask our guests to feed the fish when the weather is hot as they seem to eat more food. It has never been a problem before. The conservatory door can be opened and shut and locked. It sometimes get stuck, again when the property becomes available it will be looked on getting this ready. It is in the process of being done. Property Owner

About the location

ST JUST

Penzance 7.2 miles; St Ives 12.9 miles.

St Just is the nearest town to Land’s End and is situated approximately eight miles west of Penzance. The town itself is an ancient settlement that has a strong mining history and there are several monuments and prehistoric antiquities to visit including the Bronze Age settlement at Cape Cornwall. St Just is ideally located for visitors to explore the far west of Cornwall as it is situated on the edge of the moors and close to the beautiful north coast. In the centre of the town is Plain-an-Gwarry, a theatre used for miracle plays in medieval times, and in more recent times for the Lafrowda Festival.
