  • "What a wonderful house, in a great location."

The house had everything we needed for our short stay and was very spacious and comfortable for our party of 7. Gweek is a very pretty little village and the local store is a real gem. The location is perfect for exploring the Lizard Peninsular and beyond. We would love to return one day. Best wishes, Ian and Tina

Thankyou so much for taking the time to provide this wonderful feedback! We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Gweek house and enjoyed exploring the local surroundings. We do hope you return in future. Property Owner

  • "What a wonderful place to spend Christmas!"

Thank you for sharing your beautiful house with us. Our dogs especially loved your extraordinary garden! Armed with wet weather gear and plenty of dog blankets we have enjoyed trips to Kennack Sands, Coverack, St Ives, Mullion Cove, we even took a trip to Land's End in a wild and windy storm! Christmas Day service at St Martin's Church was beautiful. We discovered a fabulous walk for the dogs to run free at Trewardreva Mill near the village of Constantine. There are so many well thought out, lovely touches to your home that makes it really cosy, comfortable home away from home. We'll definitely miss snuggling up around the log burner playing games! Thank you!

  • "Thank you so much for letting us use your lovely home."

The dogs loved the exploring in the huge garden. Church Cove was absolutely stunning and only a few minutes away. The local shop was great and we enjoyed the black swan. Visited the seal sanctuary and was pleasantly surprised when they said we can use the tickets as many times as we like in the next 12 months.

The Black Swan, local shops and takeaways (Thank you for the information left by you)which we enjoyed throughout the week, and all the special touches left by you etc dog bed, tea, coffee and scones etc.It was a wonderful 60th birthday week away. • "We have had a lovely week here - weather was not the best but we still managed to visit many different places - really enjoyed the Seal Sanctuary - only 2 minutes away!"

Due to the weather we were not really able to take advantage of the lovely gardens, although we did take the dogs out and explore a couple of times. The evenings spent around the log burner made a cosy end to call day. Brilliant facilities to rinse and dry swim stuff after my swims in Jubilee Lido (refreshing) and the dogs loved the boot room to settle down in after days out. We had a lovely week all in.

  • "We have to agree with previous reviews about the pervasive damp and musty smell of the property."

There was black mould on the curtains and paint work especially in the lounge. Extensive condensation occurred in the property as stated by Sykes this is because the property has single pane glass - you are advised on arrival that there is a Karcher window cleaner that you can use to remove the condensation - this wasn't stated on the property details and in fact Sykes have replied in conjunction with the owner that you need to do this, I would like to have known this before booking the property. The entrance to the property was covered in green moss and looked neglected and most unwelcoming with not a lot of curb appeal. The utility room was excellent for the dogs as was the garden although some aspects of the garden furniture was unkempt and unusable. The kitchen was well equipped but we would have liked a bowl for the sink or a plug. The beaches recommended were excellent for walking the dogs and their owners. Village shop was excellent with local products and some unusual gifts.

We appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback as we want the best possible experience for our guests. We’re disappointed you found the property lacking in some areas but believe these have since been remedied, in particular any musty smell apparent due to a lack of airing. The single pane glass is a feature of our Victorian property and as explained in the welcome folder we do find condensation will occur on cooler mornings. We have never found the house to lack curb appeal but note your comments; our gardener takes real pride in assuring the exterior of the property is kept to the best possible standard and we are sad you didn’t find it to your satisfaction. We’re glad you enjoyed our recommendations for the local area and hope you and your dogs had a good holiday overall. Property Owner

  • "Living in your beautiful house for just one week - it has really felt like home!"

Everything has been perfect, except the weather. Unfortunately we haven;t been able to enjoy the garden as we had hoped, but snuggling down at night in front of the log burner was perfect. We have loved your house, thank you so much for sharing it. Wea re already thinking about coming back next year.

  • "This house has many stunning features and is well equipped."

The grounds were superb and it is in a quiet peaceful area. But it had a very musty smell on arrival and on closer inspection there was mould on a lot of the curtains and around some of the window frames. We could not open a lot of the windows so were unable to let in any fresh air to relieve the musty smell.

Thankyou for taking the time to provide feedback-we’re pleased you enjoyed the beautiful grounds and Victorian features of the property. It is a surprise that you found you could not open the windows; the instructions are in the information pack and can easily be unlocked with the provided key. As an older property the rooms do need regular airing and we will ensure housekeeping look into this and air the property well on changeover day. Many of the curtains have been recently replaced and we will look into this further. Property Owner

  • "Stunning house in a wonderful, peaceful village."

Excellent proximity to many fabulous beaches. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your very fine Gweek House. A fantastic garden which hosted some thrilling hide & seek. I can't say I fancy mowing the lawn though! We have had a lovely relaxing week. Weather has been very good and we took excellent day trips to St Michael's Mount, Hayle, Praa Sands, Porthleven & Falmouth. Also, Kynance Cove is superb. The local cafe does an excellent breakfast and the Black Swan a very good steak - All the best

A trip along the Helford River is a must. We were unfortunate with the weather, so unable to use the outside as we'd hoped, but the house itself proved a big hit for our multi-generational celebration week.

Thankyou so much for your feedback, we’re delighted you enjoyed your stay at Gweek House and hope the weather is kinder next time! Property Owner
