10 Customer Reviews

  • "We just had a wonderful stay with our 3 dogs at Myrtle Cottage."

The cottage has 3 large bedrooms with plenty of space for all our stuff. It is cosy, comfortable and the smart tv was great in the evenings. I loved the 3 dog “packs” which were provided which included fluffy blanket, towel, dog bowl and jar of treats for each of my dogs. The kitchen has all the appliances and equipment you need on holiday and the practical boot cupboard and utility with washer and dryer was well used by us. The back garden is safe and secure for our dogs with fencing and gates. The location of the cottage was ideal for us. We were only a few minutes from Gwithian beach and some fabulous coastal and beach walks up to Godrevy (National Trust walk) and the lighthouse. We saw seals on the beach there. We could be in St Ives in 10 mins by car and it is so pretty and filled with lovely independent shops and restaurants. We drove to Lands End and Lizard point could explore south and west Cornwall with ease as everywhere was so close. Recommend Porthleven and Kota restaurant and the Tolcarne inn in Newlyn. Lovely walks and garden at Trengwaiton National Trust which is only 15 mins drive and great dog walk at Godolphin estate also 20 mins drive. The cottage owner Liz, was easily contactable and answered any questions we had. Would happily recommend Myrtle Cottage - especially if you have dogs ( or even if you don’t!) - as we spent a thoroughly enjoyable week there exploring Cornwall

Thank you for your lovely review. I'm so glad you had a wonderful time! Liz x Property Owner

  • "Cosy cottage - v."

clean, comfortable and well equipped with great new appliances and free Netflix.Beds were lovely. Great location and dog friendly with beach and dunes walks within short walk and supermarket less than a mile away. Really excellent. Kitchen amazingly equipped and oven was superb with an excellent pizza tray and lovely quality bamboo chopping boards, kettle, four slice toaster - now desperately seeking ones as good, especially pizza tray. A few minor points but To improve further, but in no way reflects badly as so much thought has gone into this place, - I think a couple of sunloungers would be nice - we had great weather! Also over bath electric shower is tricky to adjust to correct temperature and not tall enough to use without crouching ever so slightly. Maybe a walk in shower could be put in somewhere? Side door could not be opened fully as there was a concrete step on other side so we climbed through top half one day! Lounge and dining room could do with a few more lights as can be a little dim in the evening. The info pack was helpful but one of the restaurants has now closed and please could you add teecees diner and burgers at the local beach shed as both were excellent and good value. We had a lovely time thanks.

Thank you for your wonderful review. We are so pleased that you had a wonderful time and appreciate your suggestions. Our guests are very important and, quite simply, we want you to have a fabulous, relaxing holiday. We are always looking at improving and have taken your suggestions on board. Liz Property Owner

  • "We thought this was the perfect location for all our activities."

It had everything we required. We were advised to keep our eyes on the dogs when outside, which we did (our dogs will happily leap a 4ft fence), so no problems at all. Excellent stay, would definitely book again

We are so pleased you had a wonderful holiday and we look forward to welcoming you back! Thank you for taking the time to write a review, Liz Property Owner

  • "Very clean and comfortable with good facilities but not recommended for dogs as ..."

Very clean and comfortable with good facilities but not recommended for dogs as not secure fencing around the garden so dogs cannot be let of their leash while in the garden ( road is quite busy so easily get run over)

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate that the Cornish stone walls that surround the cottage can be quite low for some dogs so we have looked to a solution that helps our guests with dogs that like to have a wander by erecting some fencing to the side and rear to enclose that area. We will be planting some shrubs over time to make it look prettier as we feel it is important to maintain the country cottage feel. Liz Property Owner

  • "What a great find."

Next time we are booking 2 weeks! The cottage is lovely inside. Everything you need away from home, comfortable beds, lovely sociable spaces and a nice bathroom. The Nature Reserve so close by became a daily dog walk and you can take slightly different routes every time that always end up on the beach. Watching the birdlife was special. We had lots of options of places to go everyday and a lovely cottage to come back and relax in. WiFi was really excellent given the amount of devices we had between us! Thank you.

Thank you for your kind review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back. Liz Property Owner

  • "Very good information and very helpful about something I left behind."

The cottage is clean, warm and well equipped. The location is convenient but not particularly attractive, and the decor is quite dated although in good condition.

Thank you for your review. We were delighted to reunite you with your forgotten item. I'm sorry to hear the cottage decor was not to your taste but I'm pleased that the house provided you with everything you needed for a comfortable stay and was cleaned to our usual high standards. • "The cottage is very roomy and comfortable, with lots of space for clothes and holiday gear."

Myrtle is wonderfully positioned for access to Hayle and Gwithan beaches and it’s handy to have a couple of rooms just inside the back door to allow for changing of walking clothes/dogs before going in to the house proper. The garden is lovely and really well maintained. We had some contact with the owner during our stay and she was very quick to respond and also very helpful and understanding.

That you for your lovely review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay! Property Owner

About the location

HAYLE

St Ives 6.3 miles; Penzance 7.4 miles.

Hayle is in the far-flung south western corner of Cornwall and sits on an important RSPB wildlife estuary flowing out to the beautiful St Ives Bay, where visitors can enjoy three miles of golden sandy beaches, walks, history and wildlife. Hayle has plenty of activities out of the water too; Paradise Park is a wildlife park, home to some spectacular parrots, otters, and red pandas. Hayle has a range of shops, restaurants and bars scattered around the estuary and harbour area. There are skittles and karting for the family, and for golfers, one of the best links golf courses in Cornwall is at Lelant, a mile out of Hayle. But the jewel of Hayle is the three miles of golden sandy beach, with fantastic surfing at Gwithian where there is a surf shop, lessons and hire of equipment. For the less energetic there are beach cafés where you can take in the views and watch the children play. As Hayle is centrally located you can easily access many other places by either public transport (there is a train station at Hayle) or driving. St. Ives is a short drive away where you can wander through the narrow streets, visit the art galleries, or admire the colourful sub-tropical gardens. St Ives harbour has its own small fishing fleet and there are plentiful boat trips skippered by locals keen to showcase the best that Cornwall has to offer, whether it be seal watching at Seal Island, a couple of hours' mackerel fishing or a relaxing trip to Godrevy Lighthouse. Within easy reach of Hayle is the Minack Theatre, Falmouth Maritime Museum, Eden Project, St. Michael’s Mount and many other fantastic tourist attractions for dry or wet days.
