"We had a wonderful week at Polkirt Forge."
The owner was incredibly helpful and the cottage was great. We particularly appreciated the location, which was a few steps from teh harbour. You could get up in the morning, go down a flight of steps and straight onto a tiny beach. The beds were very comfortable, with lovely white sheets. All in all a wonderful stay.
-
"Beautiful house in a wonderful location."
The facilities were excellent and the house is beautifully decorated. The view from the living room and top floor bedroom is stunning. It's very easy to get into town, either down the road or via the steps, straight onto the harbour. Highly recommended
-
"Perfect little property."
Beautifully situated ear the harbour, sea views and for access to local amenities and attractions such as Helligan, the South Coast Way and the Eden Project.
-
"Beautiful cottage in the centre of Mevagissey if anything the photographs don’t do justice to the standard of the fixtures and fittings."
Everything you could need is provided and the owners are very proactive in ensuring everything goes smoothly.
Thanks for the nice review, Carol and I are pleased you enjoyed your stay at the Forge. Property Owner
-
"A home from home."
Everything you would ever need. Great Location and lay out.
-
"A great little cottage, with all the comforts of home, the views from the cottage were fantastic."
The owners were very quick to resolve an issue with the heating. Whilst there is no parking at the property (so packing light is essential) a permit is provided and the car park is a 10 minute walk away, up a steep hill. All in all a highly recommended place to stay.
-
"What a gem of a find."
A beautiful home from home. Watching the fishing boats in harbour from lounge window with a cuppa was a joy. A short walk to all that Meva has to offer. Once day trippers had left for the day we had a real feel of being local on the evening. Lots of choice of places to eat on an evening. Just be very careful of cars which do fly past the front door on occasions (this is the only downside)
Thank you for such a positive review. You sum up perfectly how we feel whenever we get to stay in the cottage. We look forward to your next stay. Barry. Property Owner

"Brilliant cottage in the heart of the town."
Lovely view of the beautiful harbour. Very well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We stayed for a week and didn’t want to leave. Owners were very helpful with information. Would definitely recommend this cottage and would definitely return to Polkirt Forge.
-
"A lovely base for access to the coastal path and exploring the area."
Excellent food at the grill on the harbour - so easily close for a takeaway and eat back at the cottage to avoid the greedy seagulls! Great to walk to the Lost Gardens of Heligan from the cottage. Lots of helpful information about the area in the upstairs lounge. Definitely worth keeping the car away from the property - a very hepful heads up from the owner before we arrived - even in June the roads were crazily busy through Mevagissey and up Polkirt Hill - all extremely narrow and very few places to pass. We had an excellent week. Would definitely recommend a ferry trip to Fowey but watch for notice of sailings in case they're cancelled due to weather/winds. Will definitely be back! :)
-
"A beautiful property with stunning views of the sea."
clean, comfortable and very well stocked.
-
"The cottage was really comfortable with every amenity."
Spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. It is really convenient for going down to Mevagissey with all its restaurants and cafes.
Thank you for the lovely feedback. It's really good to hear how our guests feel about our cottage. Do come again Property Owner

"Perfect location, communication and facilities."
The location was perfect along with the house. Really you would find hard to not enjoy the stay. Initially the walk to find the cottage but, once you work out the village setup it was great
-
"We have just returned home from Mevagissey."
We cannot rate Polkirt Forge highly enough. Cosy, comfortable, extremely well equipped and with fantastic views from the upstairs sitting room and bedroom- if the weather is not all you hoped for there is plenty to watch from these windows. The owners are on hand (at the end of a phone) and responsive without being intrusive. We have earmarked this rental for a definite return. Thank you.
Lovely feedback to start our season. Thank you so much. Always good to know that our guests would come again Property Owner

"We very much enjoyed our stay at Polkirt Forge."
The cottage was very comfortable, and the views of the harbour from the upstairs bedroom and sitting room were excellent. A great place to watch boats coming and going around the harbour, and very pretty looking out at night. The cottage had everything we needed, and was a very relaxing place to be. It was well placed for walking to the range of shops and places to eat in Mevagissey. Nearby steps made it easy to get down to the harbour. We’d be very happy to stay again.
Thank you for your nice review. You left the cottage immaculate says our housekeeper so thank you for that as well. Do come again Property Owner

Everything was very clean. Very well situated for for all amenities.
Thanks for the feedback and your comments about the shower tray. We’ll certainly take a look as this is the first comment about that. Thanks for your booking. Property Owner

"We enjoyed the cottage and were particularly impressed with the location."
This however may cause difficulties for those with mobility issues. The property is comfortable for four people and nicely equipped.

"Fabulous, we were also lucky enough to have lovely weather."
The property provided everything you need and more, very clean and very comfortable, easy to find, easy access and instructions were easy to follow. Car park was very helpful too. Local pubs, restaurants and shops very accommodating and friendly. We love Cornwall and we love Mevagissey, been coming for over 50 years (we have family here too) Easy to drive around (everything is well sign posted) just be aware of the narrow bendy roads. Would recommend the Polkirt Forge for a comfortable stay. Thank you
-

"Our stay at Polkirk Forge was great!"
The cottage is in a perfect location, we loved Meva and enjoyed coming back to the comfort of The Forge after our days out on the beach at Gorran, walking the coast and exploring. The cottage is very spacious and has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. I would have preferred darker bedroom curtains for those holiday lie ins but it was still a 5 star place to stay for us! We would definitely book to stay again. Many thanks for the extra information provided by Barry to help us on arrival and ensure a smooth start to our holiday.

"We loved every minute of our stay at Polkirt Forge!"
The property has been fitted out to high specs and the attention to detail was evident and so appreciated. We appreciated the lovely linen, decent knives, crockery, cutlery, rooms, bathrooms and stunning views! A quick walk down stone stairs leads you to a tiny little sandy beach close to a fab little Aquarium, which our twins loved. We all soon got used to the tiny roads and absolutely loved the look and feel of Mevagissey.

"This is a lovley property, it is so well equipped and modern ."
I wouldnt like to take very young children as it is on a busy narrow hill and is quite precarious to walk along. It is very quiet at night . We loved that the lounge is upstairs the view across the harbour is sublime. Mevagissey is a lovely town and near to the Eden project, the lost gardens of heligan and lovely walks. If you book this wonderful cottage make sure you book your restaurants before as everything was booked up for months. Our favorite was Salamander, really lovely food , with just being the two of us we ate out every night . But if you are a family the kitchen is very well equipped. The owners have thought of everything.

"We loved staying here."
The location was perfect - less than a minute from excellent restaurants and the waterfront. Mevagissey was a fantastic base - we liked wandering the harbour, enjoyed the shops and restaurants, took the ferry to Fowey, and walked the coastal path to various beaches. The upstairs of the house in particular was excellent with harbour views and modern furnishings, and the kitchen and bathroom were both well equipped. The welcome pack and support from the owners was brilliant. We would stay again.

"A charming cottage just a stone’s throw from the harbour of the lovely village of Mevagissey."
Very comfortable and well equipped, it suited our needs perfectly. The only downside was lack of nearby parking.

"Polkirt Forge is located just next to the harbour - there are steps down to it and a tiny beach you can access at low tide which our children adored."
Views of the harbour and out to sea are glorious. We loved being right in the village as you are right on top of everything. The road outside is very narrow but the owners make it easy by giving you a permit to the car park 5 mins walk away, which is very safe. We had a lot of stuff to unload, so had to brave the road which was interesting!! If you don’t have too much, best to walk through the village. The info given by the owners was comprehensive and helpful, apart from recycling which we couldn’t find. There is everything in the house that you would need, from cooking utensils to beach stuff and even though some ornaments have been taken out recently due to COVID, the house still feels homely and welcoming. The one thing I would say is that the downstairs feels a little damp, but there is a washer drier to use if necessary. There is also a washing line in the small courtyard. This is a lovely place to come for a holiday. We really didn’t want to leave!
