"Lovely cottage, lovely garden , lovely village lovely holiday THANK YOU"

"May Cottage is in an ideal location to get to the beach and the parking being right outside is really helpful."
The cottage itself is very dark downstairs and cold and the electric heaters do not provide enough heat. The sofa in the front room is really uncomfortable so we ended up spending most of our time upstairs. The cottage is stocked with all of the necessities and we did not need to get any other household items. It was a lovely touch to have scones and milk in the fridge which was not expected! The kitchen has a washer/dryer and a dishwasher which is really handy as who wants to be washing up on holiday! The bedrooms were decorated well however had damp in them which you could see on the ceiling and smell which was not nice at all. The bathroom was lovely and was the warmest room in the house as the little radiator in there came on at times. The garden outside was large and has two areas to sit out on. The furniture on the second level has seen better days and we were constantly having to hit away wasps which we think were coming from the garden next door. It would be good to put up a catcher outside. Overall our holiday was wonderful but we would not recommend nor stay at May cottage again. If you are a bit superstitious the cottage definitely has “that feeling”. We were also told by the house next door that the cottage is up for sale so not sure what will happen to everyone’s booked holidays.

"Another wonderful stay in May Cottage."
Very clean, comfortable and well equipped cottage.Perfect location for those that want peace and quiet without being too far off the beaten track.
Thanks, We are delighted that you love the cottage just as we do. We look forward to welcoming you again. Regards Helen Property Owner

"Lovely cottage for the week, in the lovely village of Pentewan."
Parking a bonus. Nice and clean. Only one complaint is that the upstairs bathroom basin was a tad small and the hot water was a mere trickle, thats when it got hot, after about 10 minutes.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are happy to hear you had a lovely stay at May Cottage. We have since checked the water pressure which was found to be working fine in the bathroom. We timed 50 seconds to a minute to get to bath temperature, and hotter. Property Owner

"We loved it, great location for everything, log burner great, for the type of property it was all we expected."
..... only thing, ice compartment in fridge iced up.
-
"A compact cottage in the village of Pentewan, just off the South West Coast path, with a beach, a convenience store and a pub nearby."
It is also within walking distance of the main road and bus services to Mevagissey and St Austell. The cottage was fully equipped for self-catering holidays, and was a comfortable place to stay. It is "compact", which means plenty of space for two people, but others may find it a bit small for a group of four adults.
-
"Beautiful cottage close to the sea."
We enjoyed our holiday very much, the location of the cottage was perfect, only a short walk from the sea (where you can bath), on a quiet road without much traffic. The cottage is close to a (nice) pub and a small convenience store at the campsite. We found Pentewan to be well located too to explore other parts of Cornwall.

"A lovely week in Pentewan."
Shame the weather wasn't so good. The cottage was lovely and quiet and the location was perfect for the beach and surrounding tourist attractions.
-
"A most enjoyable stay , we will be back"
-
"A very comfortable and well equipped cottage in a lovely location."
-
"Washing m/c door was broken so out of action."
The wheelie bin and the bin in the kitchen were a bit smelly and could do with a good clean.Apart from that another wonderful week at May Cottage.

"We have stayed numerous times at this cottage and have always been very happy."
On this occasion I feel that the overall condition of the interior and exterior (garden) are in desperate need of some TLC! The garden and decking is very tired and the bottom garden was totally overgrown. The interior is more or less the same as it was 6 years ago and is in need of a deep clean. A little disappointed but we still managed to have a lovely week in the glorious weather.
Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at May Cottage. Some of the decorations in the property have been recently updated and the gardener comes around regularly to maintain the outside areas. Property Owner

"Lovely cottage with a charming garden, well equipped kitchen, comfy beds and 3 good sized bedrooms."
Wood burner made for cosy evenings. Stone’s throw from the beach and pub and a nice short circular walk up the valley from the door. Sea was warm and Pentewan trail was fun for a run and easily accessible. Cream tea on arrival was fantastic, thanks

"We had a wonderful stay in May cottage."
We loved the welcome park, a very nice treat. The cottage is well equipped and the location is fantastic. We enjoyed walks along the beach which has a small playground, a pub tea in the ship inn and went to Eden and the lost gardens of Heligan. When the weather was wet we snuggled up in front of the log burner. We hope to come back to May cottage and explore some more.

"May cottage is a lovely cosy cottage, in a great location."
Very well equipped, clean and comfortable. We had a lovely stay and would love to return to May cottage and Pentewan.
-
"A brilliant stay at May Cottage."
Its equipped with everything you could need. The welcoming cream tea and milk in the fridge was a really lovely touch. Close enough to the beach but far away enough to be beautifully quiet. Would definitely recommend and would certainly consider booking again.
-
"Beautiful cottage and great location."
We had a great week in Pentewan and had everything we needed.
-
"The property was not clean in places the side of the bath was dirty the mirror in the front bedroom hadnt been cleaned the back bedroom smelled of damp and must ."
The facilities were exceptional you didnt need anything at all it was all there . The lounge chairs were very uncomfortable and this was disappointing as we have stayed in sykes cottages before and had no need to complain .In my opinion it could have been cleaned to a better standard. However the treats that were left for us was a lovely gesture.
Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your feedback. Comments of this nature are very rare but have been passed on. Thanks again for your thoughts. Property Owner

"Fabulous cottage in a brilliant location."
Everything you might need was provided and it was sparkling clean!
-
"May cottage was lovely."
2 minute walk to the beach lovely little village. The garden was lovely just missing some outside lights for summer evenings
-
"We enjoyed a lovely stay at May Cottage it provided us with everything we needed and was an excellent base for exploring the area."
The only thing that disappointed us was the garden, unfortunately it was overgrown with weeds and obviously hadn’t been cared for in some time, however this didn’t spoil our holiday as we spent most evenings on Pentewan beach.
Thank you for your feedback. There is a regular gardener that visits the property. They were away for a couple of weeks, but there was a replacement arranged. We are glad to hear this did not impact too much on your holiday. Property Owner

"Obviously paying a premium for the half-term period, however in hindsight this property was expensive, compared to others locally, especially for one so small."
Had a very nice week.

"Lovely stay in May Cottage."
It was perfectly located to walk to the beach and village. It was very well equipped and had a lovely cream tea awaiting our arrival. It was generally clean, although could do with a good dust as there were some build ups in places such as around the window seats and head boards on the beds which was a shame. Everything was in working order and the information for the cottage was all easily available. We loved the little garden and the chairs at the front were perfectly positioned to catch the afternoon sun. We will definitely be back and would recommend it for a couple or small family!
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback and we are pleased to hear you enjoyed May Cottage, its sunny garden and the local area. The cleaners have been made aware of your comments and are working hard to ensure standards are improved and upheld. The mattress in the master bedroom has also been replaced, ready for the 2021 holiday guests. We do hope you'll choose May Cottage again in the future. Property Owner

"The only disappointment was the fridge I think it's on the blink."
We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your holiday at May Cottage and are pleased to report that the fridge has now been replaced. Property Owner

"On arrival into may cottage we had a lovely welcome pack left, scones, jam, tea and coffee."
May cottage is beautiful, clean and cosy there is lots of space for families. May cottage is in an ideal location not far to travel around and the beautiful beach is only a 5 mins walk.
-
"This is our third holiday at May Cottage (2015 & 2016) and unfortunately we were disappointed as we didn’t find it up to it’s usual standard."
On arrival the kitchen sink plug hole was blocked with food waste, used teabags and spoon was left on a worktop, mugs in cupboard were not clean and the pedal bin lid was dirty. The toilet bowl was stained and the heated towel rail was disconnected and taped up, We’re not saying the bedding wasn’t clean but there were marks on the sheet which didn’t give a very good appearance. The cottage seemed to have had a quick going over before we arrived and the flowers that were left were half dead, not fresh at all - not that this bothered us but we were expecting it to be like our previous visits. We would like to think that this was just a blip as we do like the cottage and the area. We don’t like to grumble for the the sake of it but think that the owners need to be made aware of these points.

"Absolutely perfect - third time staying in this lovely cottage and is unlikely to be the last."
-
"The cottage was very homely - perfect for a cosy getaway or a romantic break."
The garden was lovely too and looked like it had been professionally landscaped and planted. As a place to stay May Cottage suited us very well. It's close to St. Austell and so benefits from all the amenities that a sizeable town affords, yet is tucked away in a quiet village.
-
"This was our third visit to May Cottage and it didn't disappoint."
It was everything we could wish for and we hope to return.
-
"Lovely cottage in a quiet location."
The garden with its layers of decking opposite got a lot of use. The owner was very welcoming by leaving all ingredients for a cream tea, which was very much appreciated after a long drive. Lots of places to visit within easy reach.
-
"The cottage was the best we have stayed in, we have stayed in many over the years."
The welcome scones with cream and jam was a lovely touch just what we needed after a long drive. We loved everything, the garden is amazing, we spent many hours relaxing on the sun terrace. A perfect setting. We have already booked for next year. A brilliant holiday in a very comfortable, well maintained cottage, that is so cute. Looking forward to our next stay at May cottage.
-
"Excellent little cottage in a quiet village."
Ample parking and everything in the cottage you could ask for. Lovely arrival pack. Friendly neighbours and beautiful garden. 5 minute walk from the beach. Just fantastic all round
-
"Great cottage with good location, all the facilities required and spotlessly clean."
Exactly as shown on the website. Easy to book and very clear instructions aling the way.
-
"A comfortable cottage in a pleasant location."
However, cobwebs and dirty windows lost a point or two on the cleanliness mark.
-
"The cottage (May Cottage) was perfect."
It was simply idyllic in its location and appearance. The welcoming scones, jam and cream were a lovely touch and it immediately made us feel welcome. The neighbours too (presumably local residents) were all very pleasant and welcoming. A perfect setting, a perfect cottage and a perfect time was had. We shall definitely be coming back.
-
"A lovely, clean cottage suitable for 4 people."
Of especial note was the lovely garden overlooking a wooded hillside. We sat there in the evenings in peace and tranquility. The garden too was beautifully laid out. The cottage is quite small but very well equipped and quiet. Pentewan is a great centre for exploring this part of Cornwall. Good pub in the village, close to the South West Coastal Path, walking distance to Heligan and short drive to Eden and lots of lovely coastal villages. We also had a great fishing trip from Mevagissey and caught enough mackerel for us to have for our evening meal. We would highly recommend this cottage.
-
"Fabulous location and accomodation was beautiful."
Only small point , shower head holder was broken so showers were a bit tricky, but apart from one small point everything was first class
-
"The cottage was divine, this is the second time we have booked through Sykes ..."
The cottage was divine, this is the second time we have booked through Sykes cottages and can’t wait to book again, First Class both times Thank you The Mardon’s
-
"A lovely welcoming cottage with everything we needed."
The beds were comfortable and the fire kept us cosy on the snowy nights. Easy parking with walks from the door, everything we wanted. Thankyou May cottage!
-
"Unfortunately there was a leak in the property which couldn't be helped."
First contact from Sykes re this fine. Helpful and visit with apologies and chocolates and flowers appreciated. After that too many operators, no one coordinating and till this day we don't know who connected the mains smoke alarm that was faulty.
-
"No issues at all with Sykes or the cottage."
There is a roof leak noted on the morning of our departure leaking via smoke detector and into laminate flooring in upstairs hallway. No way to contact owner direct so reporting to you to pass on.

About the location
PENTEWAN
