  • "Lovely House!"

! We had the best time and can't wait to come back. The house is perfect you can't ask for any more and the owners were lovely when we spoke to them.

  • "We had a marvellous week at Higher Fords Barn."

The accommodations is excellent throughout, fantastic large living and kitchen area, lovely bedrooms with well appointed en-suite to each and nicely spaced apart. Great facilities and general equipment which provided all we needed for our stay. We particularly loved the garden which provided much fun and enjoyment for the family. A real natural sun trap with amazing countryside views. Child and dog friendly under supervision. Location is excellent from which to explore the wonderful area and Sandymouth beach was an absolute standout. The very narrow lanes leading to and from the barn can be a little challenging and very pot holed but obviously outside the owners control. We had one small issue with the outside key safe but this was quickly resolved with the owners and communication and response from Lauren and Bob was excellent and appreciated. We will definitely visit again and fully recommend this super super holiday destination.

The garden and the hot tub were spot on. In a good location. Found the heating came on during the night. Couldn’t reset? Couldn’t fault anything. We had a lovely stay. Thank you to the owners

  • "This was a lovely house, well equipped and comfortable."

A wonderful quiet location, although shame about the building site next door (although it was a quiet one). The house was cold when we arrived and the thermostats didn't seem to work properly but we managed to get it warm. There was a general lack of instructions and pointers to where to find things (eg the corkscrew, the toys and games), but once we found them they were greatly appreciated. The main issue was the damp. The porch leaked and made all our coats hanging on the pegs wet. There was also a leak in the snug by the window. It had been very wet outside, but a place to hang coats after a wet walk is essential. The play area is great for kids but one of the swings was rotten and felt unsafe. The stairgate, bed guard, buggy and high chair are great for families. The owners were helpful and thoughtful in checking that we were having a good time.

  • "It is a lovely place but the hot tub was a massive let down the bottom pipe wasn’t working so took hours to heat up and from the guest book it had been having problems for a while."

Little bit over priced but we made it work and enjoyed our week it was for our daughter 30th birthday The jones.

We are sorry that you weren't able to get full enjoyment out of the wood fired hot tub, we do provide guests with detailed instructions on how to work the tub and it does take hours to heat up - it is not faulty. It is not as easy to operate as a electric version, however, once hot we think it is considerably better. We do encourage guests to give us a ring if they are struggling with anything at the property. Property Owner

  • "Lovely Barn to stay at, plenty of room, all the kitchen equipment you could imagine."

Only downside is a barn next door that a couple are converting is a bit noisy during the day.

Thank you for the feedback. The couple next door who are renovating are very conscious of the noise they make, they are scheduling the big jobs for changeover day and additionally are making every effort to minimize noise when guests are actually at the Barn. We apologies if these measures weren't sufficient and it detracted from the enjoyment of your stay. Property Owner

Barn was very clean on arrival, well equipped everything you could possibly need and more. The layout of the barn is excellent for a family all bedrooms with en-suite plus extra bathroom too. Large open plan area plus another lounge. Great play area in garden for children. We had a lovely week and would return and recommend.

  • "Fantastic holiday cottage in rural area."

Very quiet and peaceful which gave us a very relaxing stay! No pubs nearby car needed to get to places. Would have been nice to know it had Netflix as we took DVDS but then couldn’t get the DVD player to work! Some parts of the cottage could have been a bit cleaner but on speaking with the owner their usual cleaners were not available and they appreciated our feedback.

  • "It was a pleasant surprise to arrive at Higher Forda and find that all the pictures we had seen and description of the facilities were 100% accurate."

We were all so impressed by the fact that everything we could have needed was available to us and for that reason we felt totally at home. The hot tub was lovely - we read a couple of reviews that suggested the hot tub wasn't hot enough but we took the time to follow the owner's clear instructions they had sent beforehand, and made sure the fire was burning for 3 to 4 hours before jumping in - and it definitely paid off... Like sitting in a hot bath but with the added bonus of looking up at the stars!! We were gutted we hadn't booked for 2 weeks in the end and will definitely be back soon (although looks like we need to be quick as most of next year is booked up already!) Thank you to the owners for making their beautiful barn available to us.

  • "10/10 fantastic !"

We loved the hot tub and was lucky enough to have clear skies at night to enjoy looking at the stars while relaxing in the tub. The barn was very spacious with plenty of room for our grandchildren who loved the garden and play area and would love to return. The lanes were really quiet and we barely saw any cars all week. It was ideal for walking our dogs. We had regular visits from the barn owl hunting at dusk. Overall it was a very relaxing break. Many thanks to the owners who had thought of everything we needed.

Location was great, peaceful with beautiful views and near Bude, Clovelly and some lovely beaches. When we got used to the narrow lanes driving was interesting with oncoming packs of dogs, cows, tractors etc! Sadly none of us fancied filling and lighting the fire for the hot tub, although had it been a Jacuzzi we might have done so. The children loved the Wendy house and the adults enjoyed the swing ball!

The barn is beautiful and the setting is gorgeous - our little girl loved waking up each day to see the sheep in the field. The barn itself was so spacious - plenty of room for the 7 of us and it was nice and clean. There were lots of little extras which made it even better - from a box of toys and puzzles, drawers full of games, an extremely well stocked kitchen and Wendy house filled with toys! There was even a baby monitor. The outdoor play area was great and there were even ball games and crabbing equipment to use. The furnishings were of a very high quality and we all felt very much at home. We would definitely love to stay again. Lauren , Bob and Jean were all very helpful. 5 stars!
