  • "Cosy cottage, comfy beds and enough space to accommodate me, my son and the two dogs who are not small."

The fire was lovely in the evening now it's October. It was clean nd tidy on arrival, I would stay here again.

  • "We have been booking with Sykes now for a few years and every place we have stayed has been wonderful until now."

We turned up half an hour before the allotted time but it gave us the opportunity to see where the cottage was before we went for a coffee. We got out to let our dog go for a quick walk and we could see the cleaner was still in the cottage. The kitchen was a a disgrace and we have photos to prove this. The cooker top was smeared and not at all clean. The cooker equally so with a baking tray inside with a puddle of grease on it. The floor hadn’t been mopped and there was dust on shelves and cupboards with a sticky film that had been there for some time. We had to clean the kitchen before we were happy to cook in it. Upstairs was little better as the mirrors were all smeared and looked like they had been cleaned with a dirty cloth. The tv stand downstairs was also covered in dust and every horizontal surface was dusty and not helped with the amount of nick-knacks which had also not been dusted. The front door is a stable type but the bottom was not secured with anything as the bolt had broken and one which was missing completely. It could only be held in place by the top door. The hinge on the bottom door was loose so you had to really slam it shut. My husband did find a screwdriver and fixed this. The place also suffers from damp as there appears to be little damp course outside so rain water was held in place by the decking. Every cupboard we opened smelt musty and the area by the back door also smelt damp. I did buy a plug in room freshener to at least mask the smell. Not good when you are an asthmatic. All in all we were very disappointed with Sykes on this property and it was definitely cleaner when we left than when we arrived. Another security point. The key for the property was accessed via a key safe in the garage except the cleaner hadn’t bothered to even change the code when he put the key back so as soon as I opened the garage door the key fell out.

Thank you very much for providing your feedback, we are very sorry to hear of the issues you raise which as you will see are in stark contrast to the many other positive reviews we've received for the property. The owner specifically contacts guests prior to their arrival with his contact number so that if there are any problems he can action them immediately, few visitors in the past have called him to sort little issues successfully and this would have been the case in this instance had you informed him. The owner takes their letting of Church View Cottage very seriously and pride themselves on giving good holiday experiences, this is reflected in the feedback we have received and we have every confidence this will continue to be the case moving forward in this beautiful 300 year old cottage. • "Enjoyable week in a very homely cottage."

The owner has many extras in the cottage and a welcome pack on arrival. Bed was very comfy. Charming countryside village with friendly folk and a community shop and post office. Renovation work of the old pub The Punch Bowl Inn directly behind the cottage is major work and ongoing and whilst it did not disturb us too much as we were out and about visiting the local areas it is worthy of note.

  • "Overall the cottage was fairly presented and comfortable unfortunately there ..."

Overall the cottage was fairly presented and comfortable unfortunately there were remnants of the previous tenants' breakfasts on the crockery coasters and the electrical wiring to the washing machine looks rather suspect My family and I have used a number of Sykes recommended cottages in the past and on a scale of 10 I would rate this at 5

The company that services the cottage has been informed about the stained crockery coasters. We apologise for this. The wiring has all been PAT tested. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week based at Church View Cottage, Lanreath… we were able to visit family living locally while being able to have our own space…a real home from home."

The cottage is very well stocked with household essentials, I am struggling to find any issues that are not addressed in the cottage details ie the stairs are steep with limited headroom at the bottom, but this is apparent in the pictures/ details and it is a building of an age that this is to be expected. Many thanks .

Glad you enjoyed your stay with us.Hope to see you again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Lovely historic cottage with amazing past."

The village itself is great , very quiet with a fantastic church and church yard right in front of the property. Well worth a walk round. The facilities in the cottage are good and beds comfortable. The kitchen has everything you’d need. Of course being an old traditional cottage, the ceilings are low and the stairs are a little awkward, but that’s Cornish cottages and is part of the experience. Overall we had a great stay and really enjoyed it
