  • "Information about heating, TV and cooker and hob were either out of date or lacking."

There was nowhere to hang wet towels, or laundry that is unsuitable for tumble dryer. No chair in bedrooms. We did contact the caretaker and he responded very quickly with an airier and a freestanding towel rail for each shower room. It wasn’t very clear what could be recycled and which outdoor bin took refuse. We were however comfortable (2 people and 2 dogs) and I appreciated the foot stool. The property has beautiful views and there are walks from it. The garden area is not enclosed. It may need more seating to accommodate more people - in the living room, and there were only 2 seats on the balcony. Overall we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the quick responses from Jason, who also helped with the cooker hob.

  • "A wonderful hidden gem!"

We wanted to get away from the hussles and bussles of every day life. To be able to see, smell and hear the sea. We were not disappointed. The Coach House delivered all the above plus being cosy, warm and welcoming. We will certainly be back.

  • "We enjoyed the break and could book The Coach House again."

The place was spotlessly clean and very well presented. - Upstairs single beds are very uncomfortable. Need better mattresses. Cannot comments on the comfort of the downstairs beds. - We were four people and the lounge furniture met our needs. However, as the property sleeps six. there needs to be a re-think of an additional settee or armchairs. - The heating controls are very unclear and not user-friendly. The instructions left by the key-holder are totally inadequate. I spent far too much time trying to get it to work when we stayed in. - The mirror in the double bedroom en-suite has been affixed to the wall trapping the over-basin pull light cord. The light cannot be used. It’s not a simple case of pulling it free. - The outside tap is broken. Dirty footwear and dog need cleaning outside. - Sykes book-out time on the day of departure is not the same as that displayed in the property. Departing at 1000/1030 is a comfortable time. Having to depart by 0930 is a pressured rush. This is not a rant, but points that need addressing to make fee paying visitors feel that they are getting value.

  • "As this property caters for six persons we would have expected 6 balcony chairs."

However, there were only 2 necessitating taking heavy chairs from the dining room upstairs to the balcony. As the weather was good the balcony was used every day to enjoy afternoon sun. We frequently saw dolphins in the bay from the balcony.

  • "The cottage is set in a superb location and the inside is welcoming and clean."

I would try and take better photos which show the location as it is so well placed. A perfect base for wildlife lovers. Walking distance to Sennen and Nanquidno Valley.

  • "We needed accommodation and booked very late."

I understand that Covid is making things difficult, but on arrival, we were met by a wall of disinfectant smell (smelled more like flyspray) throughout the house. There seemed not to have been enough time between cleaning and arrival. It was really unpleasant and not a great start. The smell persisted for at least 24 hours. Perhaps you should be staggering arrivals and not one out one in on the same day. Or using better cleaning methods/products. The accommodation looked poor from the external photo, but the photos of the interior were good. However, our expectations were not met. The whole enterprise was basic - looked a lot better in the photos, but everything was cheap and disappointing - construction, materials, cutlery, glasses, bedding etc. The carpets and sofas felt tacky and we not comfortable without shoes. The tv didnt work - we notified the caretaker immediately but it wasnt fixed for 3 days, and for a rainy break in september with dark evenings, that was not good enough. Instructions for the use of the property were emailed to us but we couldnt open them on our phones. We asked, but never got a printed copy. It was more like student accommodation. It looked like a party house - Im sure its perfect for a gang of surfers, for partying, drinking and crashing, but it didnt suit us. The description traded on the sea/sunset view which was great, but it was let down by everything else. We will not book through Sykes again.

  • "From our experience, this cottage was exceptional for its location and views ( near a cliff top with great views to sea and along the shoreline ), for remoteness and for atmosphere."

It was comfortable and warm, clean and well prepared for our visit. I would recommend the owners might provide a few more kitchen items for preparing food and cooking with, but that is only a minor matter overall. We highly recommend the cottage

  • "We were a group of Grandma (84), her three sons and daughter (all in their 50s), and one grandson (7), and found that The Coach House met our varying needs extremely well."

It is spacious, comfortable, and clean, and of course the sea views are superb. Access to beach and cliff walks were on our doorstep, and it made a good centre from which to get to Pendeen, St. Just, Porthgwarra, Mousehole, and Penzance. We thought it was fair value for the price. Our only problem was initially discovering how to work the hob and ovens, never before having encountered a digital touch-button display, and a manual would have been helpful. Thank you to the owners for making it available.

The cottage is very clean and comfortable with fantastic views. Jason the caretaker is always available and had to deal with a rather stubborn drain blockage on another prop. Missed the normal starter pack which also included wine in past

  • "This is the second cottage booked with you this year."

Porth leven we thought may have been a blip so accepted the tired looking accommodation. Our experience this weekend was the same. We paid a little more for comfort but again the accommodation looked tired and well used. Bathrooms nice but the flooring in the lounge was ripped. Kitchen units needed painting and kitchen table needed a good wash. Sorry

A little hard to find even with the Sat Nav as it didn't take us far enough down the lane but there is nothing we could fault. The views are stunning and the accommodation is really comfortable with everything you need. The welcome pack is a lovely touch and welcomed as the first thing you need after a six hour journey is a drink! Would definitely book again :)

  • "- Jason; the caretaker was very helpful; however; - The beds were extremely uncomfortable and, on looking, very old."

The mattress springs 'donged' on movement and there was a hard line down the middle of the double bed. I had to use spare duvets to try to improve it. The other beds not much better. Glad to get back home to my own bed. - The en-suite shower was either tepid or boiling hot. - Downstairs toilet main part was cracked. - Very flimsy plastic toilet seats unable to sit on them. - Oven, cracked handle and possibly on it's way out listening to the noise of the fan. - Radiators not working in kitchen and entrance room, thermostat in the kitchen. I used to stay in Carn Eve and its properties thirty years ago and they are unfortunately now looking rather unkempt and shabby in it's general upkeep.

  • "Overall the property could do with updating."

We lost the central heating from Boxing Day. We called out the caretaker who came the following day who got it working again for it to fail again a few hours later. He said he would get a plumber out the following day but I had my reservations due to it being Christmas week and of-course he never turned up. We had to make do with a single electric fan heater which was ok when were altogether in the sitting room. What this meant was that it was cold at night and all the towels were damp. The toilet in the en-suite also leaked. The spectacular view made up for the disappointing accommodation.

About the location

Land’s End 1 mile; St Just 5 miles; Penzance 9 miles.

The most westerly village in mainland Britain, Sennen has a lovely mile-long beach of pure white sand and is a very popular holiday destination. With excellent surfing conditions, the village has its own surf school – overlooked by a super-cool beach bar/restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows which make the most of the wonderful views. Once a hub of smuggling activity, Sennen still retains many secret passages – one of which is said to lead to the covered well in the Old Success Inn. Largely unchanged over time, this lovely village has a timeless appeal and is home to a gallery, a medieval church, an Iron Age fort and a small selection of shops where you can buy beachware, gifts and souvenirs, and a range of groceries. There is also a weekly Farmers’ Market in the village Community Centre each Tuesday morning. During the summer, the beach bar becomes a hub of activity and entertainment, with live music, weekly barbecues and popular surfing competitions.
