The area is beautiful and within reach of Bath, Wells and Cheddar Gorge, as well as some ancient sites which were of particular interest to us. Nearby Chew Magna is an interesting village with some excellent places to eat. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage as a comfortable base for exploring a lovely region. Our thanks to the owners for facilitating a most enjoyable stay.

Pros Clean (very) Comfortable (especially the beds) Welcome pack (thanks) View Beautifully furnished Cons Exiting onto road almost completely blind Huge pile of rubbish directly in view

Thank you for your positive feedback regarding the property. Boundary Barn is situated along a narrow country lane. As owners who live on site, we access the same entrance/exit daily and those that use the lane are generally familiar with properties that have an exit onto it. The views are fantastic from the Barn, part of which overlooks farmland. The agricultural rubbish that is referred to was there temporarily due to the farmer clearing one of his barns, which has been subsequently removed. SS Great Britain was a full day out Regarding being near Bristol Airport, this did not bother us at all, even with few planes going over. At this property was a Beauty Barn where I had a long overdue Manicure, loads of Treatments were available too The views were spectacular with sheep so close to the Barn. The facilities in the Barn were spot on, everything you needed and most of all so soft Beds and so comfortable which in my book is a must Thank you for a lovely stay, and a perfect base for exploring, we shall return as for us its so near our Son and future Daughter in law Regards, Maureen and Colin Magee

The cottage is small, yet roomy at the same time and is furnished beautifully. Two shower rooms is a bonus in a small property and the open plan kitchen/diner/lounge makes it feel airy. Bedrooms are small but adequate. The cottage is under the Bristol airport flight path. Flights do operate 24 hours. This didn’t bother us but may do if you’re looking for total peace and quiet. That said I would definitely recommend this property.

Thanks so much for your comments Roz and recommending our beautiful little Barn conversion. We pride ourselves in offering our visitors a comfortable, airy stay and have worked hard to create an interior/exterior layout and design to facilitate this. I run my Beauty Cabin within the same grounds as the property and we have specifically tried to bring some of the relaxing and restorative feel that my clients enjoy at Boundary Barn as well. We also live on-site and can say that aircraft noise is rarely an issue for ourselves and our guests. Bristol Airport has aircraft approaching from many different directions, so does not have one specific flight path as such. However, depending on winds and air traffic hold patterns, you may hear aircraft overhead more so on some days.... Erica & Andy Property Owner

  • "Boundary Barn is in a lovely position, overlooking the Chew Valley, but this is spoiled by being under the flight path for Bristol airport."

About 100 jets take off and land each day, some during the night, and when the jets are taking off towards the property, they are very noisy. The property information states: "As the property is conveniently positioned by Bristol Airport, some associated noise maybe heard". This is very misleading. If you are looking for some piece and quiet, and you want to sleep after 0600, I would recommend not booking Boundary Barn.

Thankyou for your comments Gary and we are so sorry that the aircraft noise appears to have been a concern during your stay with is. This must have been a very unusual period when weather and air traffic conditions created an issue, for which we can only apologise. We live on-site, within the same grounds as Boundary Barn and can honestly say periods such as those you have described are very rare. We do however enjoy regular overhead visits from hot air balloons ( Ashton Court is only 3 miles away)and lots of our visitors have shared their delight at witnessing this serene spectacle. It's set at the top of a valley, so the views were amazing. Being able to watch the funny spring lambs was lovely. The Barn had everything you need and it was very clean. We enjoyed walking from the barn across the numerous footpaths, byways and bridleways. The countryside was stunning. The wildflowers were beautiful. A visit to the Chew Valley and Blagdon lakes was a lovely day out, if you go to the fishing tackle shop at Woodford Lodge at Chew Valley lake sailing club, you can buy a day permit ticket for £6 each, this allows you to walk or drive around these beautiful lakes. We saw an Osprey, Barn Owl, Little Egrets, Herons, Sandpipers, and a new sighting for us, Garganey dabbling ducks. The grasses around the lake were filled with wildflowers including Early purple Orchids. There's also a restaurant at Woodford Lodge. Thank you for a lovely stay at Boundary Barn.

The cottage is just 5 miles from Bristol and is a great base to discover the local area. It had a well-equiped kitchen including washing up liquid, dishcloths, and tea towels. There were lovely toiletries provided in the shower rooms and it was well decorated throughout. At one end of the lane, there is an ice cream parlour well worth a visit and a pub at the other end. We visited Bristol Docks, Clifton Suspension Bridge, Glastonbury, the Cheddar Gorge and Weston Super Mare all very easy to get to. T property and drove through Clevedon which unfortunately had decided to ban all car parking along the front, why could they not have had at least alternate parking bays made available? As a result side streets were jam packed with cars - possibly for the residents and few visitors. Shame, because Clevedon looked delightful. The location of the Boundary Barn gives 180 views of beautiful countryside with every shade of green, yellow and bronze - and with sheep of course. Unfortunately without a Sat Nav finding it was tricky on the drive down to Dundry but we cracked it in the end - part of Somerset's charm is the winding roads which can take you in circles even with an old fashioned map to guide you.. We had beautiful weather which was a bonus, and walks to the local dairy each day for fresh milk from Guernsey cows was a joy. Our hosts Andrew and Erica made us most welcome on arrival and unobtrusive hosts, we knew if we had need them they were always there.
