  • "We really enjoyed our stay in Brindle Cottage, very comfortable and welcoming."

It is the second time we have been and loved it both times. A very good place to stay to see The Cotswolds and an entrance to Lydiard Park is just a little way down the road from the cottage which is great for dog walks. Wouldn’t hesitate to reccomend a stay there

Thank you very much Carole for taking the time to leave feedback on our property and the surrounding area. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your second stay and look forward to welcoming you back again in the future! Kind regards Alison and Simon Property Owner

Dishwasher was a lovely bonus. The folder with things to do, and containing appliance instructions, and the laminated information sheet were very useful. Well kept garden and ample parking.

  • "Lovely cottage."

Spotlessly clean. Warm and comfortable with great care taken by the owners to supply everything we could need. Even our dog was well provided for. The cottages are in a quiet location but close to towns and supermarkets. The Cotswolds Water Park is nearby but best of all is the huge Lydiard Park. Literally on the same road with walks for all ages and ability and vast areas to let dogs run and play. We really enjoyed our short break and will book again for a longer holiday.

The only thing it needs is a hand rail in the shower. Lovely couple who own it as well. Would recommend.

  • "I found that the settees were very low for us to sit in, alright if you are a sprightly youngster but we are not ."

We could not get the heated towel rail to work so we had to use damp towels to dry with. The only comfortable thing in the cottage was the bed. Because of these things we left on Wednesday instead of staying until Friday.

Thank you for your feedback. We strive very hard to make everything as comfortable and enjoyable as possible for all guests. We were very disappointed to discover this feedback placed directly on to the website without being given the opportunity to rectify any issues, despite your replying to our email confirming everything was okay. We have since checked the heated towel rail and it is working as normal. We are also sorry that our standard size settee was too low for your comfort. Property Owner

  • "While the property listings mention the M4 being across 3 fields with the chance of noise, there was no mention of the road 40 feet from the front door with traffic 24/7 varying from a couple of cars a hour to around 150 cars an hour at peak times."

The 2 week holiday was spoilt by the neighbouring properties residents being rude and threatening to my wife and pet dog Monty, because he had the nerve to bark. We do not go on holiday to have people in an adjoining property bumping and banging around because they rented the cottage to work in the area. This has been brought to the attention of the owners and Sykes Cottages. Spoilt what was a brilliant holiday. Hope the next occupants dont have the same problem.

The road in front of the property is unclassified and single track with passing places. The number of cars reported passing at peak times can occasionally be high if for any reason the M4 or adjoining road has an incident. We can only assume this is what happened. Our details request dogs be kept on a lead but unfortunately this was not adhered to. The neighbours who only arrived 3 nights before the end of Mr and Mrs Myhill's stay have explained a phobia of dogs as 1 of them had been bitten in the past by a small dog. Unfortunately it seems that Mr and Mrs Myhill were intent on finding fault. We received unjustified complaints from the 2nd day of their stay. Kind regards Property Owner

The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed to make it comfortable to return to after a long day out. The cottage is located about 2 miles from the nearest town but there was a nice front lawn where we could relax with a drink in the evenings. Would definitely recommend

It spotlessly clean and comfortable and had everything that we needed. It is in a rural area, yet only 10 minutes drive to the busy town of Swindon and less than 5 minutes drive to Royal Wooten Basset. I would highly recommend this property.

. and that's exactly what we got. The little extras in the spotless cottage were most welcome, there is a lovely lead free dog walking park 2 mins walk away, loads of information on places to visit. We were left in peace, but knew how to get hold of our hosts should we need to, we didn't. I'd forgotten the dogs bowls.. no worries they were provided! As were treats, dog towels and a dog blanket, milk and eggs and even some apples from the garden.. the beds were very comfortable too.. just perfect! Already told all my friends!

  • "Brindle Cottage was very clean, spacious, comfortable and well equipped."

It is very easily accessible from the M4 and in a great location for exploring the Cotswolds as well as the North Downs. Whilst we had no need for anything from the owners, we did speak a couple of times and I am sure that had any needs arisen, they would have only been more than happy to help. Very good value cottage.

About the location

Swindon 6.7 miles; Malmesbury 10.7 miles; Bath 31 miles.

Situated at the southern end of the Cotswold Hills, in rural northern Wiltshire and close to the border with Gloucestershire, the friendly market town of Royal Wootton Bassett can be found. The town was granted Royal patronage in 2011, due to the part it played in the repatriation of military personnel who sadly lost their lives serving their country overseas. It boasts a weekly market and offers a good selection of local shops and inns, providing an ideal touring base from which to explore the attractions of Wiltshire and beyond. The town is close to the historic Lydiard Park, Bowood and Longleat, with the ancient sites of Avebury and Stonehenge nearby. The coastal resorts of Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea are just over an hour's drive for anyone wanting to dip their toes in the sea. Visit the charming town of Malmesbury and the Cotswold Water Park and with the historic cities of Bath, Oxford and Salisbury all easily accessible, this area really makes an interesting touring centre at any time of the year.
