  • "We had a lovely week in the lodge, It was exactly as the photos showed."

Very clean well equipped and welcoming, the views were amazing. Although we had pretty cold weather including snow the lodge was never cold, we only lite the log burner for the effect and to be cosy. Fabulous outside kitchen/seating area next to the hot tub which was also lovely, clean and well maintained. Marie was also lovely and made sure we knew she was close if she was needed. We would love to go again in the future .

Hot tub was a great way to relax after exploring the area with the dogs. Cottage was comfortable and well appointed. Despite the time of year we managed to get some lovely views across the valley, especially around sunrise and sunset. Marie was friendly and helpful when required. She left us to enjoy our break but was always available if we needed anything.

  • "This is my second stay at Stoney Brook and I love it, Marie is super helpful and made me feel at home."

I travel alone, and this time with my cats (who didn't enjoy it so much) - if you want to bring cats then you can rest assured that there are two wardrobes perfect for them to hide above all week (apparently). My cats don't dash out the door which is handy as the cottage is open plan so they'd be straight out if they did, and Marie didn't bat an eye about me rearranging the furniture to accomodate my needs. I think she's got the level of equipment just right, I stayed for a week and there was everything I wanted to hand. The location is just stunning, you can't see any other houses from the windows and hot tub and it is so relaxing. The bed is super comfortable and the duvet and pillows are really nice too. I didn't try the TV so can't comment on that but the wifi was really good, stable and fast and worked in the hot tub too. I feel the cold, but with the electric heater on and the wood burner going it got toasty pretty quick. The outside area is stunning and even while inside the cottage you can hear a brook nearby, a nice touch while you are in the hot tub.

  • "Stoney-Brook Lodge is a little slice of heaven."

It’s spotlessly clean, well appointed with all the touches of home, making it a really comfortable and effortless stay, but it’s the setting that makes this place stunning. The view is just wonderful. And being able to sit in either the hot tub or the outdoor lounge area and enjoy it felt like the height of luxury and relaxation. The owners are nearby if you have any issues - we had none - but are so friendly, welcoming and helpful. I can’t recommend Stoney-Brook Lodge highly enough. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I hope we’re back in beautiful Shropshire very soon.

    ! Should of been binned

Thank you for your review and I’m sorry that you were disappointed with our lodge and we always appreciate any customer feedback There are 3 different oven trays in the lodge I’m sorry if this wasn’t enough I would have been happy to have supplied more The plastic bowls with lids are microwaveable apologies if you didn’t realise this The second jet button on hot tub doesn’t work as it’s for another model it’s just on the dial but doesn’t actually do anything Apologies again for the dustbin .. the bin men sometimes leave it down by the gateway and I hadn’t seen I have repaired the one broken window catch as I didn’t realise it was broken it’s usually just oil salt and pepper and few stock cupboard items left but apologies if you felt these should have been thrown away Kind regards Marie Property Owner

The last one was for a weekend in December and we wanted to experience it in the summer. We had a lovely week. Marie left us some milk and cake and checked to see if we needed any wood for the log burner because it was a bit chilly for June. We knew we could ask if we needed anything but we didn't and we were left to ourselves. It's a lovely secluded place, just a short walk up the hill there's the footpath for the Shropshire Way. We enjoyed the hot tub and the views from it over the fields. You can see for miles. It's amazing. The lodge is lovely and comfortable, spacious but with a cosy feel. There are no negatives at all. I'd love to go again.

The owners were lovely and extremely helpful. The lodge was really nice with lovely decor. What sets this property apart is the outside space and the incredible view! Yes it’s remote but this is clear in the details and that’s the appeal for us. We loved being able to walk our dogs straight from our lodge up Clee Hill. Our dogs loved the garden/field but just a note to say it isn’t fully enclosed, it has a drop one side down to the brook and our dogs kept disappearing into the bushes behind the lodge looking for pheasants! It wasn’t a problem for us but worth noting if your dogs are more adventurous!

The outside space is phenomenal and the hot tub completed a perfect holiday. We had a great mix of days out plus relaxing days at ‘home’, it really is in a fantastic location (and easy to get to as the directions are foolproof). There are books and games at the lodge (we took our own but really wasn’t necessary) and we found it well equipped, plenty of room for us and we are a family of 4 (grown up children). Marie, who owns the property called us when the lodge was ready and was only a short trip away if we needed anything. She is lovely and helpful. We took our own towels for the hot tub (towels are provided but it’s nice to keep the lodge towels for showers etc) and packed robes/dressing gowns to pop on after the hot tub. Marie checks the hot tub during the stay so you know it’s all running fine, there’s also a hose pipe to top up the tub should you need to. I highly recommend Stoney Brook Lodge, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10 You will not regret booking this, we really had the best family break there!

Photos don't do justice to that amazing view and the outdoor area was perfect to sit out even if it rains. The garden isn't fenced all the way round but our dog never ventured from the lawn area so it should be fine for most (the areas that aren't fenced are surrounded by shrubs/long grass). It would have been nice to have dressing gowns for getting out of the hot tub and a couple of hooks to hang our towels on but we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Stoney-brooke Lodge to our friends so thank you again Marie for a wonderful stay!

The outside area is incredible, it’s such a party area! We used the hot tub every day and the kids really enjoyed roasting marshmallows on the fire. The weather was brilliant all week so we were out there at every opportunity. Clee Hill is just above the property and is a great walk, the view from the top is amazing. We took our dogs up there a few times and they had a whale of a time. We would definitely recommend staying here and would visit again. The only feedback we thought of during our stay was that it would be even more perfect if it had a couple more bedrooms so a larger group could stay as the outdoor area is definitely perfect for groups.

Loved cooking steak on the grill and sitting in the hot tub with that view! Worth the drive out to the various places we wanted to visit with our 7 year old. The Habberley Trail, West Mid Safari Park, Ironbridge. Make sure you walk up the 'incline' from the lodge to the old quarry buildings, got some great eerie industrial photos up there. Only complaint is that the directions to the property not very accurate and the postcode in the sat nav took us to the wrong place. No sign for Bedlam until you actually reach Bedlam and it's not on any map!? Two entrances to Bitterley from the A road, both 1 1/2 miles not 1!

  • "The cottage itself is beautiful, as are the grounds."

We took our two dogs and having a secure garden is extremely important. The log burners, the hot tub and the general feel of the place made it an extremely relaxing weekend, especially at the beginning of December. There is something lovely about sitting in a hot tub with a fire roaring and the sound of rain on the roof... Ludlow is a beautiful old town and I would recommend at least having a look around the castle while you're there even if you do nothing else. One tip. Read the directions on the emails and the app. Ignore Google Maps when trying to get to the cottage. If you don't it will take you on a journey I can only compare to a Top Gear Special. Yes, you'll make it, but the car might need to be shot and put out of its misery. A lovely place that I would be happy to return to, perhaps in the summer next time.

It was a particularly cold and wet week with snow showers and high winds, had we not had the log burner on then it would have been cold as there is only a small electric heater in the living area. We did have to ask the owner for more wood and she kept us supplied with regular top-ups. In fact the owner, Marie, was quick to respond to any requests or needs that were pointed out to her. The directions to the Lodge should mention that it is necessary to take the lane marked as "No Through Road" to get to Bedlam and the lodge. There are two lodges, with Hillside on the left and Stoney Brook on the right hand side of the lane when travelling uphill. The location is nice with extensive views over a valley over and beyond Ludlow.

Our dogs love it here too and letting them run about in the garden off lead makes life so much easier than places where they have to be harnessed/lead/staked.
