An exceptionally well prepared location, a much appreciated welcome pack, and everything needed for a perfectly restful few days. The effort and care taken by the owners is obvious to see throughout the property, and the hot tub makes it even more special. My wife and I had a great time celebrating her birthday (possibly with a tad too much to eat and drink!?) for a few days in January. Thank you so much for letting us share your property.

My only ask would be the addition of a decent bottle opener and a sieve! Lol we stayed for Christmas so baking and a sieve Would have been useful. The hot tub in the cave felt like it was a 5 star spa experience. The little gift basket left, included milk and bread was really appreciated. I had one of the best night sleeps in a long while due to the comfortable bedding. The town on Bridgnorth is beautiful and there’s lots to do, there’s a wide range of pubs and you can hop on a bus to ironbridge which is also beautiful. RAF museum is only a 20 minute drive away and makes for a good day out. We were provided with a parking permit for on road parking. So parking wasn’t an issue. Overall thank you for a great stay.

The owners really had thought of everything including a lovely welcome basket so we could have tea and toast when we arrived. They checked in during our stay to make sure everything was ok. Cottage in ideal location for days out but to be honest we could have parked our car and stayed put for the week as shops restaurants and cafes are so close. Despite this the location of the cottage is actually very quiet and peaceful. Would definitely book here again!

  • "Well what can I say, we have booked it again so that is the best review I can give."

We had a lovely stay, the whole house was extremely comfortable and everything was lovely and clean on arrival with a welcome pack that was appreciated. Loved the top floor as it was so dark at night yet very light and airy during the day, although maybe not suitable for everyone as the stairs could be a consideration. Great communication from the owner at all times, thank you. Lovely location and a close walk to the town and super markets. A TV in one bedroom may have been nice but that is just a personal preference, to be honest I liked not having a TV but some of the party missed it. Flowers, tissues, hand wash all readily available in the bathrooms with body cream and a good supply of toilet paper, lovely touches as I usually have to go and buy extra. The theatre on the stairs is worth a visit we had a great evening there, also found an Ale House just behind the house that was a good old fashioned pub. The hot tub was the highlight I must say, it was my little piece of paradise for a week after a hard 2 years in the NHS Thank you

  • "This was the perfect stay for our first holiday with our son."

Bernie and her husband have put so much work into this beautiful property and it shows. The design is so simple but there are lots of little touches that add to the experience. The blankets came in very handy for they chilly evenings and it was nice to try some of the games in the cupboard while enjoying the goodies in our welcome basket after a soak in the hot tub. The hot tub was 100% the selling point for my husband, to the point we didn’t actually google the area or anything but we were not disappointed. Everything about the property was bigger and better than we expected from the ad. Turns out the location is perfect for being walking distance to everything we needed. Located right next to the river it is quiet and picturesque, right up the road is a couple of bars, access to the cliff train to high town (definitely worth a visit, lots of places to eat and nice quirky shops). Just over the bridge on the other side of the river is more places to eat, a co-op and m&s food hall, and a lovely walk along the riverside that goes through large playing fields with a park. The house itself is over three floors, you walk into a cosy living room with dining table, through to the back door and an adorable kitchen that has everything you need on a self catered holiday. The back garden has a small table and chairs perfect for enjoying the evening, this leads up to the cave with the hot tube which… it’s the perfect use of the cave the lighting is so relaxing and we spent every night in the tub it was just so nice. Up stairs you find the first bedroom which has a large bed and plenty of room with draws and hangers to use. The bathroom is on this floor with a nice strong shower. There is also a toilet on this floor. Then up some very steep stairs is the second bedroom which again is just beautiful, making use of the space perfectly, having a bathroom is very handy too. The advert is right to advertise the top bedroom is not suitable for those with mobility issues the stairs are quite steep. There are so many things I would love to mention about this property but I would go on all day. Definitely worth every penny, it just kept giving. Thank you so much for making our stay so good.

  • "If Mark's and Spencer's did Holiday Rentals ."

.. This property was like a 'mystery house' choice for our holiday, being an inland terraced house opening straight onto the road in a town setting. However, this tiny cottage is exquisite, the owners have made the most of every inch of it and I surprised the family with the amazing hot-tub cave. We appreciated all the extras like robes, toilet rolls, towels etc. The washer dryer was extremely useful when using the hot-tub daily. We were worried that our dog wouldn't settle downstairs away from us, but he did thankfully, and he enjoyed walking in the fields along the river at the end of the road and in Severn Park on the other side of the river. Our biggest problem was that Bridgnorth seems to be a Mecca for dogs, and our reactive dog found this rather stressful. On the flip side, you are spoilt for choices of dog-friendly shops and pubs. The combo of the steep stairs and Bridgnorth's hills had our joints aching by the end of the week, but Bridgnorth is such a lovely place to visit. We entertained the children with the pottery painting shop, mooching around the charity/gift and antiques shops and rowing down the river (you could even take the dog if you had a calm one !). The adults enjoyed a mooch around the Severn Valley railway. We also took longer drives out to Hoo Farm for a meerkat feeding experience and Drayton Manor for their birthdays. Thank you to the owners who were responsive, kind and helpful and even posted my purse back to me, which had gone down the back of the sofa. A lovely holiday.

If hills are a problem then there’s a cliff train that takes you to the top. Basa Villa is 100 yards away and is great for relaxing in the seating area outside with a cold pint of cider. We have to admit, the stairs to the upper floors are not for the faint hearted or less able. After long days exploring the area, the hot tub was a welcome relief. A wonderful feature having it inside a cave with gorgeous atmospheric lighting. Great that it was so private and really didn't matter what the weather was doing. Bridgnorth town centre is a fairly short but steep uphill walk away. You can cheat by using the funicular railway (entrance by the traffic lights near Ridleys Bar) Stand out places we ate were; Takeaway: Eurasia Indian, Very good indeed. • "Really enjoyed our stay at Riverside."

Perfectly located next to the River Severn and in Lowtown it was a short walk to the Cliff Railway which takes you up to the Hightown or you can walk up the steep road. Pubs and shops are at your level too. The property itself is very cosy and I mean small cosy! The fire is very nice in the evenings and the steep stairs take you up to a double bedroom and shower and toilet on the first floor and then a further steep climb takes you up to the top comfy king size bed and smaller ensuite toilet. The small kitchen is completely adequate for meals and comes with all the frills. The highlight is the enormous cave in the cliff at the back, hewn out of the very pretty red sandstone in which sits the freezer washing machine dishwasher and a lovely big hot tub. Good lighting sets the tub off. Absolutely perfect for a winter getaway for us. Bridgnorth itself was beautiful with a range of shops and pubs and restaurants and set in the heart of the industrial revolution and a huge amount of important civil history. We learnt a lot about our country in just one week. Great for short trips out with beautiful countryside in between all the places of interest. Good restaurants we ate in in Bridgnorth were Peepos, Dilraz Indian, who also both do takeaways, and Violets Tearoom. Bernie was our very friendly host and quickly answered any questions. Free parking was right in front of the cottage. Lovely interesting and relaxing holiday, helped by fabulous weather for the week, thanks.

Downstairs is small but functional, and well laid out. Nice welcome pack ! Outside there is a nice set of table and chairs where we managed to eat our breakfast every morning. Then there is the beautiful hot tub. This is set into a "cave" and in the same space you have dishwasher, washing machine, freezer and beer fridge. The first floor has a nice double bedroom and bathroom with shower. The steps to the top floor are narrow and steep, but for those who dare you reach a loft conversion with en-suite (toilet and sink; no shower). After looking through available lets in the town itself I came across 31 Riverside. The description sounded great and what sold it to my wife was the hot tub in the cave to the rear of the property. The thumbnails on the website indicated a cottage with quality furnishings and fabrics ...another must for us. On arrival we entered the cottage and before unloading our luggage did our customary lookabout.....and we were not disappointed in any way whatsoever. Everything we saw matched Sykes description. The welcome pack was a lovely touch with choccies on the bed, prosecco in the fridge and a fresh loaf with butter. Fresh flowers were also placed in the rooms. The kitchen had good quality kitchen ware. The beds were very comfy with big fluffy pillows and super quality bedding. The living room seating was of a very good quality and comfortable. Excellent shower on the first floor. In the cave was the hot tub which got a lot of use. :-) Also in the cave were more white goods ....everything one may need. Outside was a nice seating area......though in periods of no rain we would sit on the bench on the river bank savouring a glass of wine or 2.....very civilised. The cottage is sited 2 minutes from the fernicular railway if your legs won't make the Cartway or the flight of steps 50 yards away from the cottage. A train spotters paradise with the Severn Valley railway 10 minute walk and for the real ale enthusiast the Railwaymens arms on the platform is a delight. There is no Tescos or Morrisons if these are you favourites they are within driving distance. Beamans the butchers in High Town is a must. Parking is limited but Bernie and Jason the owners left us a parking permit, apparently the traffic enforcement officers are extremely hot on unauthorised parking. We passed on the cottage info to our friends who may be interested in staying. This is one of the nicest holiday lets we have stayed in......so nice we have booked next year as well.

Although a small property it is very comfortable, the hot tub was enjoyed by us, and it’s setting is very unique. The owners were welcoming and friendly, and left a quality welcome pack. We can recommend The Falcon Hotel for meals. The only drawback is no downstairs toilet, so if you are less mobile you may find climbing the steep stairs all the time difficult .

Luxuriously accessorised, they have thought of everything. Only 1 thing that was not perfect was the kitchen, the photos really were excellent as I had no idea that the kitchen would be so tiny. Would stop again but without plans to use kitchen other than for fridge and drinks. But overall a very lovely property

  • "We had a lovely week at 31 Riverside."

The cottage is small but perfectly formed and has been really well thought out. We ended up spending a little more time in the cottage than perhaps we would have normally because of the weather and it never felt cramped. It is comfortable, cosy and well equipped, with the lovely touch of a little care package including chocolates and Prosecco on arrival. The real bonus is the hot tub in the cave / grotto in the garden - this really did add a touch of luxury to our stay and was a swell way to relax after a long walk. In terms of location, Bridgnorth is a great base to explore the beautiful Shropshire countryside while being a rather beautiful town in its own right. There are plenty of places to eat (don’t miss the food at the King’s Head) and drink (you’ll be made very welcome by the lovely staff at the Shakespeare) all within comfortable walking distance, especially if you take the short stroll from the cottage to the cliff railway. It is also a particularly dog friendly town and our little Whippet was fussed over, not to mention plied with plenty of treats, if we stayed still long enough! All in all, we would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending a visit to Bridgnorth and a stay at 31 Riverside.

The cottage was spotless, modern, comfortable with a fantastic hot tub. It was such a change to stay somewhere which allows dogs and is so well looked after. The little basket of bread, chocs, butter, milk and Prosecco was a lovely idea and gratefully received. We will be back, thank you

The location and surrounding area were ideal with plenty of interesting places to visit. The added bonus was the hot tub in the cave which was particularly relaxing. We came back over to spend time with family. The cottage is in a great location, right by the river so it’s super quiet. You are very close to everything you need so couldn’t ask for a better place. The cottage itself was awesome, we ate a family of four and it just has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. BRIDGNORTH

Much Wenlock 8 miles; Ironbridge 15 miles; Shrewsbury 20 miles; Ludlow 20 miles; Church Stretton 20 miles.

The market town of Bridgnorth lies in two very distinct halves - the High Town and the Low Town - separated by the red sandstone ridge on which the town is built. The two halves are connected by winding streets and flights of steps, or there is always the steep funicular railway, enabling the weary traveller to glimpse what Charles I called "the finest view in all my kingdom". A bustling Saturday street market provides an ample excuse to explore the town and examine the castle ruins, which lean at a greater angle than the Leaning Tower of Pisa! Flowing below is the River Severn, providing many pleasant riverside walks. The Severn Valley Railway runs between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster, and runs a variety of steam and diesel engines through picturesque country stations. In the areas surrounding Bridgnorth, there are a wealth of country parks, impressive houses, museums and picturesque Shropshire villages, as well as easy access to The Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford, and Ironbridge Gorge, with its 10 museums and striking landscape.
