  • "We really enjoyed our stay at No 2 Millfield."

We were really impressed with the standard of accommodation, and Gail couldn't have been more welcoming. We had everything we needed, and would highly recommend a stay at this house.

The host was extremely helpful and welcoming. The property was spotlessly clean and spacious and had everything required for a comfortable stay. The location is perfect for exploring the Ring of Kerry, we will definitely return.

  • "This was the ninth time I have booked the same cottage in Ireland together with the ferry ( Ireland is across the Irish Sea )."

I booked for 2019 as soon as we returned last September and paid a deposit for a repeat holiday as had been previous practice. I received a telephone call from you four months later to say that Sykes were not doing Irish ferries anymore and that I would have to make my own arrangements. I found this to be terribly upsetting and unprofessional on your part and was dealt with in a very offhand manner - how was I to get to an Irish cottage without a ferry? Accordingly, I will not be dealing with Sykes Cottages again!

  • "We had a fantastic week at Millfield House, just one week ago."

Gail, the owner, was so delightful that I wished she lived next door! She greeted us with great warmth and explained everything about the house and area and made us feel very welcome to contact her if we needed to. We arrived to tea set out and goodies as well, along with provisions for a great breakfast the next morning which was so welcome since we had just flown all night and driven most of the day. The house was beautiful with everything one could ever want and so much more than the photos could depict. It was beautifully furnished with warm and comfy furniture, wonderful beds, complete bathrooms (3) and a great, well equipped kitchen and dining area. And spotlessly clean! The garden in the back was lovely with flowers and a table for eating and a fireplace in the living room to take the evening chill off. We had guests join us for a few days and Gail was lovely about the extra people. There was plenty of room for us all but still cozy and welcoming. We loved the little pathway that led to the town of Kenmare - just a few minutes walk to all of the great pubs, music, shops and sights of the town. The area was perfectly situated for drives to the Ring of Beara, Ring of Kerry and other sights. We loved the pancake house, Strawberry Fields, just a short beautiful drive away - great for a rainy morning and lovely drive. There were plenty of great walks around the area and breathtaking drives. Pub fare was delicious and we had wonderful cuisine at the Lime Tree and '35'. We would absolutely recommend this beautiful house, area and most delightful owner and would not consider staying anywhere else!

  • "The owner was an excellent host, she did everything to make our stay excellent."

This was the best equipped Sykes cottage we have rented. There was plenty of room to store our food there was a salad spinner which delighted my wife. The house looks small from the front but it is very spacious inside.

  • "Very easy arrangements to arrive and a lovely warm welcome."

The house is very spacious, spotlessly clean, furnished very comfortably with more than enough of everything we could have wanted. All fitments were nice quality. Brilliant location for the Rings of Beara and Kerry. Kenmare was still bustling in late November with plenty of choice of places to eat. Easy drive from Kerry Airport. One of the best places we have stayed.

  • "We truly had the luck of the Irish with us when we stumbled upon this gem of a house for our vacation in the South West of Ireland."

Everything about this place was great- the ample kitchen, the 2 1/2 bathrooms, the cosy fireplace, the great fixtures and finishes and the comfortable bedrooms were all nicer than the online pictures conveyed. The owner has quite a collection of literature about everything to do in the region, and we found ourselves routinely using these references to help us explore this great country. One of our favourite parts of staying here was that when we returned at the end of the day, it was nice to take a stroll into Kenmare and enjoy all that the wonderful town has to offer. We really could not ask for any improvement on any front! Thanks again for a great stay, and we would not even consider staying anywhere else if we were to return to the area!

From the warm welcome to the extra touches for the holidays - Christmas tree and decorations - we felt right at home immediately. All the information and suggestions we could possibly need or want were available to help with our plans. Fire wood and turf were laid on for cosy fires and a welcoming bottle of wine made the transition to vacation-mode complete.
