• "Beautiful location overlooking the ferry and stunning Lough Swilly — the setting is truly lovely."

  The house itself was great but we had a few issues. There was a power cut that highlighted both fire alarms were not working (no batteries and expired alarms), they were fixed after two days. The hair dryer didn’t work either, the housekeeper kindly lent hers. No locks on bathroom doors. It would have also been nice to receive a welcome note. Lovely stay overall.

  Great coffee maker and the place was extremely clean and comfortable- I might suggest a little welcome pack in the fridge as I had travelled from Cork and would have loved some bread milk and maybe cheese...rather than having to shop after a long trip. All sai, its one of the best houses I ve holidayed in and intend coming back !

We’re always open to new suggestions however it’s unfortunately just not feasible for us to leave food for guests due to people’s many different preferences, allergies and food intolerances.   The cottage is in first class condition and very well equipped and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others or to stay there in the future if we holiday in County Donegal again.

• "It's was just a stunning stay."

  The location is fantastic the lough the walks woods playground superb location as for the comfort and luxury of this wonderful house it was just a delight to experience. My son and I and his friend just loved it's comfort peace and cosiness. I look forward to getting back there again. . And def try the suana on beach its another gem. We like to thank the owners for a fabulous stay.

• "We had a wonderful stay here."

  The house has beautiful views of the beach and pier and is the perfect spot for to get to the beach for a swim/dip. The house had everything we needed for our weekend stay, it was super clean and tidy. We were able to park just outside the house and were only a few minutes away for The Beachcomber (a great pub in Rathmullan). The owner of this property saved our holiday after another property let us down and cancelled our booking at 10.30pm the night before we were due to travel. The owners of 3 Coastguard Station went above and beyond to accommodate our last min booking and we couldn’t be more grateful!

At the moment we are investing hugely in the renovation of our back garden. We also provide soap, shampoo and conditioner, which are rarely given freely by property owners on holiday lets nowadays. • "Thank you for a fabulous stay at 3 Coastguard Station."

  The house was so luxurious with gorgeous sofas, beds, shower and kitchen facilities. Everyone commented on the comfort of their beds and bed linen - and we slept so soundly. The decor was first class and the facilities were top notch from the Smeg fridge to the Smeg kettle. We especially loved the little upholstered viewing alcove with a view directly over the beach and pier. In the early morning we drank our tea and coffee watching swimmers, dog walkers and horse riders on the beach. It was a world away from the stress of life. Easy access to the beach, wood walks, local pubs and Belle’s Kitchen fine bakery and cafe made it so comfortable and special. Our favourite pub was Mary Mac’s. The house was overheated when we arrived and I had to turn off the radiator in the smaller double bedroom as it was uncomfortably hot. But we contacted Laura and her husband and they were immediately responsive and attentive and solved the problem by reducing the thermostat in the back shed. They were kindness itself and very pleasant. Our only other problem was learning how to use the digital cookers and hobs which are frustrating for people used to gas or cooking on older electric models. Instructions would have helped such as - start the rings off on high and gradually reduce them otherwise they will never heat up. We like to cook but wasted a lot of time as we only felt we had learned how to use them by the 3rd day. The array of pans was excellent - but the smallest saucepan never worked on the hob despite having symbols suggesting it should. All in all we had great fun during a wonderful short break and will highly recommend this beautiful home to our family and friends. It is ideally situated with so much to do in the town and vicinity and the full comfort of a luxurious property to relax in. Thank you so much.

• "3 Coastguard Station is, hands down, the nicest holiday house we’ve ever stayed in."

  It’s absolutely gorgeous and somehow even better than the photos. It was spotless and toasty warm when we arrived on a cold February day. There is so much space and light. The beds are fabulously comfortable with super soft linen. You cannot beat the location and we loved watching the activities on the beach every morning - horse riding and wild swimmers. There is a sauna and playground right outside and you can walk to everything in town. The kitchen is better appointed than ours at home and we have serious bathroom fittings envy. Thank you to Jenni and Stefan for the most special holiday. We can’t wait to come back. Jump on this house if it’s ever available. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

• "We could not fault 3 Coastguard Station at all."

  It is a welcoming homely property that had every amenity required. It has been a thoughtfully restored historic building that just feels fab and truly cared for by the owners. The location of the house could not be more perfect, we loved the convenience of ditching the car and being able to walk to local restaurants and the pub is just a few doors down! We adore the beach so having it literally on your doorstep is both practically and visually amazing, great for our sea dips too! The window seat in the cottage is my favourite spot, the beach and sea view was simply stunning. We have been regular visitors to Rathmullan for 14 years and when our usual holiday home was sold last year we were so sad because we didn’t think we would find another to match it. Lucky for us we feel we hit the jackpot with 3 Coastguard Station and look forward to returning again soon. Separately, we would like to commend the property owner on being responsive to our queries before and during our stay. It took Sykes 2 days to respond to our initial query and by that time we had already arrived at the property. They then took another 2 days to fully answer by which time we had checked out of the property. We are lodging a separate complaint around Sykes customer services which should absolutely have no reflection on the property or owners. We paid a high rate for the property via Sykes and would expect they have high standards of customer service to match, sadly that was not our experience. It was our first time using Sykes and we would be reluctant to use them again in the future. It would be such a shame if Sykes shoddy customer service damaged business for the property, the owner's don’t deserve that because the property is excellent.

• "The house is beautiful - very cosy, stylish and welcoming."

  It is in a fantastic location and we had so much fun there. It helped us truely fall in love with Donegal. We were very sad to leave and look forward to hopefully being able to book the house again next year.
