About the location

RATHMULLAN, COUNTY DONEGAL

Letterkenny 15 miles.

Nestled on the shore of Lough Swilly on the Fanad Peninsula, the quaint village of Rathmullan has a colourful history. It was from here that the last of the Celtic chieftains fled Ireland, now known as the Flight of the Earls, and there is an interesting heritage centre in the village commemorating this vital event in Ireland’s history. This sleepy seaside village offers a variety of local shops and pubs and a long sandy beach ideal for lazy days. The Fanad Peninsula is a haven for walkers, hikers and nature enthusiasts, and boasts a stunning coastline. The summer ferry crosses Lough Swilly to Buncrana, opening up Inishowen and beyond, and it’s only a short distance to the town of Letterkenny.
