The property

Okehampton 7 miles.

This upside down cottage is one of two cottages, next door to the owners’ farmhouse on a non-working farm in a rural setting close to Dartmoor National Park and seven miles from Okehampton.

Set over three floors, The Orchard is situated in a delightful peaceful setting surrounded by fields and is ideal for friends and families wanting to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

On the ground floor you will find a comfortable and stylish king-size double bedroom, a bathroom and a cloakroom with a basin and WC.

A set of wooden stairs lead you to a quirky and characterful open plan living area, with vaulted beamed ceiling and exposed white stone wall, and includes a well-equipped kitchen with a cosy dining area, as well as a comfortable sitting area with warming woodburning stove.

Finally, on the second floor is a lovely mezzanine double bedroom.

At the front of the cottage is a lovely patio area with rattan furniture, just perfect for sitting and relaxing whilst watching the owners’ horses grazing away in the meadows.

The local village of Bridestowe is less than a ten minute drive and benefits from a small shop, and there are also numerous friendly pubs in this area.

The towns of Okehampton and Tavistock are nearby where you will find quaint little shops, pubs, tea rooms and a daily market, in fact all you need for a wonderful day out.

Further afield, are the renowned beaches of Widemouth Bay and Bude, ideal for surfing, as well as having other watersports on offer.

Exeter 23 miles.

Okehampton is a busy market town on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park and near the highest and most dramatic areas of the moor, where Yes Tor rises to a height above 2000 feet. To the north of Okehampton are some beautiful rolling Devon hills where small farming villages nestle amidst woods and fields with plenty of gently flowing rivers. The fabulous Roadford Reservoir offers a multitude of watersport activities and fishing opportunities. Okehampton has a prominent medieval castle overlooking a wooded river valley, the Museum of Dartmoor Life (where Tourist Information can be found) and Okehampton train station, which has been restored to its 1950s glory running trains along a scenic route to Meldon the highest station in southern England. The town also has spectacular views across Dartmoor, access to fabulous walks and Simmons Park where you’ll find a children’s adventure playground. This area of Devon has plenty of farm shops and country inns serving good food where visitors can spend time relaxing and unwinding amongst unspoilt countryside.
