  • "We booked Pigwigs Place to spend a weekend away with family to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday."

The owner met us on arrival and already had the woodburner lit, so it was very cosy when we entered. She explained that we could walk freely anywhere on the grounds (which were vast!) and the dogs were able to be off leads which they loved. We already had some activities planned nearby but the owner offered her assistance if we wanted suggestions. Very friendly welcome and the biscuits and fresh flowers were a lovely touch. The cottage was perfect for our family gathering, as it was open planned and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The only problem we had was the gas running out but a quick call to the owner and the bottle was changed within minutes. We would definitely stay again.

  • "Super property in fabulous grounds."

This is the best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in. The owner has thought of absolutely everything and was so helpful. The estate is stunning with beautiful walks, tennis court, lake with rowing boat and altogether delightful. The cottage is beautiful, spacious and cosy and so nice to get back to after a good walk. Our grandchildren and dog loved every moment and were reluctant to leave. We all hope to be back.

Steeped in history, with lots of character. Lots of space to explore on the estate, and a feeling of being away from it all. Very well equipped. We made good use of the tennis court and the barbeque. Owners very helpful and informative. Just great to relax, with lots of nature on the doorstep, but near to attractions like beaches, Plymouth, Dartmoor, historic towns and villages.

  • "What an amazing place, loved our week here, thank you so much."

The cottage has everything you need, every pot and pan you could think of, tea coffee etc, beautiful toiletries and fully towels, comfy bed and a gorgeous quilt The Estate is amazing and we had hours exploring new things. Our doggy was safe and secure and loved the smells. She's only a pup but met sheep, pheasants, rabbits, squirrels (cheeky one sat on the window ledge) and frogs ! The owners are lovely people, happy to chat and recommend, or leave you be Some great walks on Dartmoor and Totnes is a must. Some lovely cakes from the shop in Cornwood Village Big Tesco in Cornwood too, but Endsleigh Garden Centre in Ivybridge is a must for homemade food and products too one word of warning - DO NOT USE YOUR SAT NAV !! We got totally lost on the little country lanes before we arrived and must have spent 2 hours going round in circles !! YOU MUST follow the instructions from the Owner and you will find the cottage with ease Amazing stay, thank you so much

  • "Excellent place to unwind and relax even with two grand children three and a half and one and a half, and a dog."

There was enough space for three adults, children and dog. The open plan kitchen, diner and living room was a great space to enjoy the evenings. We only had to have the log burner on twice which was very cosy and would imagine even cosier in the winter. Outside there was plenty of space to run around the grounds and estate and go on walks. Even more fun if you have slightly older children. Only slight downside, if you have small children, would be getting to the beaches with all the paraphernalia. Took a little bit longer than we thought, but that's Devon I suppose and maybe down to our poor navigational skills and planning. Tip - Re food and provisions. There is a huge Tesco superstore only 8-10 mins away with the usual opening hours, so no worries about taking a huge amount of food for the week if you plan to cook. Lastly, the owners of the cottages, who live on the estate are very nice and accommodating and don't mind you asking any questions you may have. Would go back again.

  • "We had a lovely time exploring the amazing grounds with tennis court and woods."

The cottage was very well equipped but the double bed was very hard which did effect my sleep. The children’s room is amazing with lots of toys and books which kept my 8 year old and sometimes 12 year old occupied. We were a little disappointed that there wasn’t any welcome biscuits or scones on arrival as it’s about the first place we have stayed that hasn’t done this . The cottage is in a fantastic location but is located down some very small single track lanes but not too far off the A38. This didn’t affect our travelling to places in and around Dartmoor though as we still visited the various Tors and Burrator Reservoir.

The accommodation is excellent and perfectly laid out. A great kitchen and an enormous lounge, with wood burner that also heats some of the upstairs radiators. TV and excellent wifi. An endless supply of wood and kindling was so generous. Upstairs, two bathrooms with power showers one with bath worked really well with our family. One double bedroom with very comfortable mattress, and a further two twin bedrooms. The twin with another lounge / kids play area provided further space. This room is equipped with TV / and loads of puzzles and toys. The tennis court is opposite, with a boating pond and stream for the kids to play in. It is one of the best places we have stayed in and is great for families or just a quiet retreat. The Owl living in the barn was wonderful, and making campfires and dens just added to the occasion !!

We (4 adults and 2 dogs) had a great holiday, walking, exploring the coast (be prepared for very narrow lanes!) and generally relaxing. • "The cottage is lovely with everything you might need whilst you are there."

It's very well placed to visit lots of attractions. We hadn't realised the cooker was run on bottle gas so when it ran out we thought there was a problem but there was a new bottle ready. It just would have helped to know about the cooker. We had a very frightening experience when the electric heater in the children's bedroom caught fire. They are only 2 and 4 years old and thankfully both mummy and daddy were in the room at the time. It was a new heater so the owner could not have done anything different. I think it is important to remember never to leave heaters on when in bed or leaving the house. This could have been a devastating tragedy.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that the new radiator sparked after being left on. This has been removed and replaced with an oil filled radiator. Details of the calor gas can be found in the welcome pack and had you contacted us, we would have been happy to switch the bottles. We are glad you enjoyed the cottage and surrounding attractions. There were lots of games, books and dvd’s to keep children entertained, along with a tennis court, for children and adults. It was so nice to be in the country and to enjoy the peace and quiet. The only drawback, if you like to eat out in the evening, is there is only The Cornwood Inn within striking distance, which we found disappointing. Apart from that, we would thoroughly recommend this holiday to anyone seeking a quiet holiday away from the hustle and bustle of seaside towns.
