The property

Nestled in the historic town of Dartmouth in the South Hams area of Devon, is this charming, three-bedroom cottage, Crowthers Cottage.

Originally built in 1750, the cottage has recently been renovated to a high standard whilst retaining a wealth of original features and character.

Enjoying a stunning location within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and boasting superb views overlooking the town and River Dart, This cottage at 16 Crowthers Hill is a marvellous base for a group or family of six looking for their next adventure to Devon.

Be welcomed into the open-plan living space, where the chef of the group can look forward to rustling up mouth-watering meals, with the help of the electric oven and hob, fridge, and a handy dishwasher ensuring a fuss-free clean-up!

Gather around the dining table for six as you tuck-in to a delicious meal and discuss the following days itinerary.

After a hearty meal, kick-back and relax in the sitting room, where you can select a much-loved film from the Smart TV and snuggle up in front of the electric log burner.

Completing the ground floor is a handy utility cupboard housing a freezer and washing machine, perfect for keeping your holiday wardrobe fresh!

At the rear of the property you will find an enclosed terrace with furniture and offering you views across the town to the river.

Climb the stairs to the first floor, where you can wash away the day with a refreshing shower, before stepping into the warm embrace of a fluffy towel, courtesy of the heated towel rail.

Continuing through the property, you will find two well-appointed bedrooms, a super-king-size with zip/link and a king-size with en-suite shower room.

The final bedroom can be found on the second floor, and is a twin with desk space looking out through a velux window towards Dartmouth town.

Head into the local town, where the budding historians will not be disappointed with the fascinating exhibits within the Dartmouth Museum readily available, as well as the riverside 16th-century Bayard’s Cove Fort and the impressive 14th-century Dartmouth Castle which overlooks the River Dart.

Take a leisurely stroll around the picturesque harbour before treating your loved ones to a tasty pub lunch at Dartmouth’s Oldest Pub, Seven Stars, or sample fresh seafood at The Sea Horse or Rockfish.

The keen walkers of the group will have easy access to the scenic South West Coast Path, which offers some of the most breath-taking views in the area and ensures you don’t miss any of the sights!

Hire a boat for an idyllic sail along the River Dart or hop aboard the ferry and venture over to Kingswear, home to a 16th-century castle and the 20th-century National Trust site of Coleton Fishacre with its beautiful exotic garden.

For a fun-filled day at the beach, the award-winning Blue Flag Blackpool Sands is just a short drive away and offers the perfect setting for bathing in the sunshine, tucking into treats from The Venus Café or paddling the shores.

About the location

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
