  • "Second time visit for us and first since the modernisation."

Changes made were very well received especially putting a roof over the outdoor seating area which became a very usable space during the inclement weather. Very well presented and spotlessly clean and good communication with the owners with a small issue we had (not with the property). Building work next door wasn’t really an issue and the builders were very courteous and quick with a joke and smile and in any case they were typical builders in that they spend half an hour making a hole and then spend two hours staring into it! Another great holiday and look forward to our return visit.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback, and how lovely that it was your second visit, I’m so pleased you like the renovation work that’s taken place. The builders are great, they did our work as well Property Owner

  • "We were very happy with our stay at Raven Cottage."

The views and location were superb and the cottage was very comfortable, very well equipped and very well presented. The ongoing work next door didn't really affect our enjoyment and we would certainly return here.

  • "When we booked this break back in January 2024 Raven Cottage was claimed to be all on one level however, there was no mention of the 30 feet step climb from the road to the property."

There was no mention of the ongoing building work in progress next door that in turn made access to and from the cottage dangerous. These two details would have stopped us booking this cottage in the first place. The rubbish bin and bags were full to overflowing and had obviously been that way for some time.and the advertised 3 spaces for parking were reduced to1 due to storage for next doors building materials. The advertised photo of the front patio was impressive but the side patio area and furniture needed a good clean. It was two weeks prior to our break that we had any hint of the building work or the access steps and we were advised of a discount due to the building work. We paid the full advertised price for this cottage and never did see the discount offered . Due to family health emergency we had to cancel our break and return home after 36 hours, possibly a good move under the circumstances. We were mislead with the advertisement and would have looked elsewhere had we known of the hidden extras. To be fair the interior of the cottage and facilities were exceptional and the views were stunning but we had no intention of sitting indoors for a week.

I’m so sorry you had a few issues, it does say there are steps up from the parking area , and building work is taking place next door. A £100 discount has been applied for the inconvenience. The side garden furniture has now been painted, and pots planted, and the cleaner has sorted out the rubbish. We aim to try and please everybody and the feedback helps us to improve your stay, many thanks Debbie. Property Owner

  • "Cottage is beautifully furnished and very comfortable, unfortunately the outside dining table and chairs are very worn and in need of renewing, so weren't usable and this area outside the kitchen is very shabby too."

Luckily there is a much nicer seating area by the terrace. It would have been nice if we’d had bin bags, dishwasher tablets and other essential household items left for us. Instead we had to go and buy these ourselves. There was also a card saying the owners hoped we liked their gift but no gift was ever found (assume it would have been a small welcome pack). The waste, recycling and bottle bins were full when we arrived and were never emptied during our week there.

I do hope you enjoyed your holiday, we’ve looked into the issues you've had and have addressed them. We leave tea, coffee, milk, sugar and biscuits at the property as a welcome gift. Two dishwasher tablets and a bin bag in the large bin and food caddy. I will leave more bin bags in future, but it is a self catering cottage. Many thanks for your feedback, we do appreciate it as we aim for everybody to have the perfect stay, many thanks Peter and Debbie . Property Owner

  • "We stayed here for a week and really enjoyed our trip."

Having been to Cornwall for the first time we were surprised by the beauty of the landscape in this are. We had the most wonderful stay at Raven Cottage and highly recommend it. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The house was clean upon arrival, creating an immediate sense of comfort and relaxation. The beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. After coming back from our daily trips to beautiful places we were more than happy to enjoy the evening in the winter garden with this stunning view. We will surely miss sitting here and watching endless waters and seagulls right in front of our (temporary) home. The kitchen was another highlight of our stay. It was fully equipped with everything one could possibly need to prepare meals, from pots and pans to utensils and appliances. Overall, Raven Cottage provided the perfect setting for a peaceful and enjoyable getaway. The attention to detail in every aspect of the house made our stay truly exceptional. We would not hesitate to return and strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and well-appointed place to stay. Thank you for making our trip so memorable!

  • "A beautiful cottage in a quiet location with the most stunning view of the whole of Seaton Bay and Looe."

Well equipped modern kitchen but to be honest you'd be hard pushed to leave the cosy, bright sun room looking out to sea. Great location for long walks along the coastal path and through the local woods and for exploring the area of Looe, Fowey and beyond.

Rear garden was pretty much unusable. The view and proximity to beach made up for the shortfalls in property. Lovely welcome pack and early access was a good perk.

  • "Very disappointed, the photos looked great but in reality the place hasn’t been modernised at all other than the kitchen, the boiler barely gives out a dribble of hot water to wash pots, there’s rising damp up some of the walls, the wind howls through the windows, one guest had to sleep on the sofa as the bed was unbearable, on inspection it had been repaired with a piece of plywood and an old cupboard door."

Needless to say we left a day early, If I’d paid £500 for the week it would of been understandable but £2500 was 5 weeks wages for me so to say I’m devastated is an understatement

We are very sorry to hear you’ve had a less than satisfactory holiday, we looked into your issues you’ve had and have addressed them. There was a dishwasher at the property but we have now changed the water pressure system and the damp has been resolved and the walls replastered, as part of a property upgrade. The bed had been temporarily repaired but is now repaired with a permanent fixture,We do give out two contact numbers for guests prior to arrival and would have assisted immediately if we had known at the time that you needed help but neither we nor Sykes seem to have had any contact from you during your stay and we are sorry we were not given the opportunity to help you at the time.
