  • "The house was roomy and bright with the MOST beautiful views and sunsets over the Chesil."

Easy access to pubs, shops and fun things to do. Perfect family holiday house. A couple of issues. One chopping board in the kitchen was inadequate and unhygienic. No spare toilet rolls was just plain mean.

  • "Arrived to bird poo over all the outside furniture and on the upstairs balcony."

Downstairs toilet smells and there is what seems like constant dripping in the upstairs on suite dressing room. That’s all the negative. Positive lovely house well equipped. Great little island. Lovely walks. Lots to do with Weymouth being near it. Durdle door and lullworth a must. Thoroughly enjoyed our week.

  • "Lovely house with amazing views of Chesil Beach."

The facilities of the house were great for a family of 4. The location was great for walking within Portland with pubs, fish and chip shop and a shop close by within 5 minutes walk. Cot and high chair available on request. Would recommend and will be back soon hopefully! Only a couple of small improvements: 1. The house could do with a mirror in the natural light (of which there is loads in this house) 2. New blinds/ curtains would be good. Not black out and let so much light in. My 2 year old was up at 5am every morning as a result! 3. The house smelt a little damp at times. Maybe a leak somewhere, the landlord may want to investigate.

  • "Just a couple of small issues , on stripping the beds as requested to do for the housekeepers we found that the duvet on the double bed was badly stained and also the mattress protector, also one pillow in the master bedroom didn’t have a protector on it."

Could also do with mirrors in some of the bedrooms near electric points difficult for ladies to do hair and makeup. We will definitely return for another visit it is such a beautiful house.

Great location, lovely accommodation, well equiped. The only niggle was the internet. It is an old model bt router and needed rebooting too regularly.

The house was spotless on our arrival and the toddler loved the putting green in the back garden. He has already said he wants to stay again.

  • "Everything was good I just have one comment from our stay 1) The tumble dryer wouldn't work as it said the water reservoir was full."

I was ok as I knew what to do but others might not. I'd suggest this is checked as part of the cleaning regime to ensure it is empty before new occupants arrive

  • "The house is wonderful and perfect for a large family group."

It was immaculately clean and very well equipped. Our only problem was noise from big gatherings next door at night on more than one occasion.

Thankyou for your valuable feedback, we are glad you loved the house. We are sorry to hear you were disturbed by the next door neighbours, this property is a holiday let through another company. We look forward to welcoming you back to Dorset soon. Property Owner

  • "We Had an issue with electric sockets at the beginning of the stay!"

David from dream cottages was excellent sorted within 30 minutes! Very nice man and friendly ! We also had a power cut on the last night from 20:00hrs to midnight not the cottages fault, external agency, again Sykes were very helpful and supportive. Overall we had a great stay the cottage was looking a little tied and perhaps need painting and the stair carpets were not very clean, a few stains etc which I reported in case we were accused of the damage, certainly will stay again great location all though pricey not sure about 5 star rating borderline 4 we think!

  • "We had a great break away staying in Portland surrounded by the beautiful Jurassic coast."

The house is perfectly located for a stroll along the magnificent miles of Chesil beach and beautiful views from the heights hotel to the bustling seaside town of weymouth. A visit to Portland bill lighthouse for proper Mr whippy ice cream and cream teas to die for are a must. The locals are incredibly friendly, happy to chat and share info about the incredible history of the island which was so refreshing and welcomed. We're already planning our return.

  • "This house is perfectly located in Portland with Chesil Beach within yards, fabulous pub (The Cove) walkable and the Coastal Walk also on the doorstep."

As keen walkers and runners, we didn't use the car once during our stay! The accommodation is spacious (although there were only two of us) and the kitchen well equipped for self catering. The check in and check out was super easy, details provided beforehand was also timely and informative. Only two slight niggles 1) only two dishwasher tablets and one loo roll in each toilet which meant a shopping trip was needed, for the price paid we would have thought there would be sufficient supplies of these two essentials 2) also although it was surface clean the property could do with a deep clean to get rid of the cobwebs, limescale etc. But would definitely stay here again.
