  • "As per my emails to Sykes, which have so far not been responded to, the property was: 1."

Very bad damp smells throughout the property which were trying unsuccessfully to be masked by air fresheners. This was not just due to the property being unoccupied as when we opened the kitchen cupboard doors, the smell became intense and you could feel the dampness on the crockery. This is a health hazard to anyone having a health pre-condition of asthama, bronchitis etc., or babies and young children staying in this propoerty. 2. The bins had not been emptied from the previous occupants and were full. 3. The dining chairs were all stacked on top of the table. This is not welcoming. 4. The second single bed in the top room was not made up. 5.A pre-warning on the property description about parking not available outside of the property would be advisable, especially if you have elderly or young children to contend with. Luck has to be on your side, if you want a space for drop off/pick up, which is allowable for 1 hour. But parking is very tight in this road as it is narrow and mainly taken up by permit holders. Although this property is up for sale, I do expect Sykes to take responsibility for the standards of properties on your website. I don't believe the cop out, "your contract is with the owner of the property" is sufficient when it comes to potential health or safety issues caused by a property. If this is the case, then this property and Sykes should be reported to Trading Standards. During our stay, I sent 2 emails to Sykes, informing you of the issues and neither have had a response! Any company can and does have complaints, it is the way you handle and respond to them that makes them a good company.
