  • "We had a great time - brilliant location, comfy beds, well equipped kitchen."

It could have been better if dogs are allowed in the living room but the kitchen is large enough to spend a lot of time there instead.

Beautiful views & walks on your doorstep. Cottage is big, very comfortable, has every amenity, lots of parking, everything you need for your holiday. We loved it.

  • "Lovely quiet spot and the property is comfortable, very clean and has everything you need with views of Ben Nevis and the surrounding farmland."

Fort William is only minutes away with Morrisons, M&S and plenty of other services. After reading the last review, I was a little apprehensive but the shower works absolutely fine now and there was no evidence of mice in the house. Everthing was immaculately clean. There are a lot of nesting birds in the roofline, a resident owl in a tree outside the living room window and given the rural location, I've no doubt there are mice around. It was lovely to see the lambs and calfs skipping around. ( hence dogs must be controlled at all times) The property is ideal for an adult group as there are steep stairs, to the upstairs living area. The outside space is certainly not safe for children to play or loose dogs. To be fair you are warned about this in the welcome email. A fishing office shares the ground floor and I got definite vibes of resentment from some of the fisherman. Most of them seemed to drive at excessive speed over the cattle grid into the yard at the front door and one evening, while I was visiting the bins , I was almost run over. No apology- just a scowl . Arrival instructions include parking instructions and restrictions regarding visiting the adjacent river- both so as not to inconvenience the fishermen. The last quarter mile to the property is on a single track road with no passing places. I would recommend the property as a base for a walking holiday but its not great if you want to spend time relaxing at your holiday home in good weather. The outdoor space is sadly not developed for the Steadings guests safe use.

  • "Lovely cottage renovation out of the way, exactly what we were looking for."

2 small let’s downs. Mice. I realise it’s an old barn in the country but every single night my entire party were awoken by mice running around in the roof upstairs above the bedrooms. Every night. Also on a few occasions we came across a mouse in the kitchen but no laid traps. With these visitors in the kitchen and their droppings infront of the fridge and along the skirting that’s why my cleanliness rating isn’t higher. Also no explanation was given why the temperature dial of the shower was stuck with a lot of tape and couldn’t be altered. This left the shower temperature at very very hot. Luckily there was a tub to use also which I opted to do rather than shower as it was literally too hot. Other than these 2 issues. Lovely. The log fire. The sheep and highland cows outside. The river. The mountains. And all other amenities inside the steading were great.

Andrew, the owner was super-speedy with his replies to questions we had.

  • "Fabulous location - isolated but only 10 minutes from local facilities."

Overall cleanliness could have been better and there was an issue with the hot water being too hot and very noisy plumbing. This was reported to the owner who said he would get a plumber to investigate - pumber never arrived. Minor niggles which did not detract from a wonderful week.

  • "Whole place was incredibly clean with new fittings and furnishings."

There was a problem with the shower that was resolved very quickly. Had an isolated feel with views around truly breathtaking.Yet only a few minutes travel into middle of Fort William. owner Andrew couldn't do enough to help. Couldn't fault it.

  • "We loved this wonderful property and had a great week."

Location is great with views of Ben Nevis and it feels so remote and isolated despite only being a short drive (and a very long walk!) into Fort William. Very comfortable accommodation for up to 6.

  • "If you are looking for a dog friendly base very close to many great walks (easy and difficult - many within 15mins drive, most within 30mins and many more) that is remote, quiet and set in the most stunning location with amazing views then Camisky Steading is for you."

It had everything we needed for a brilliant two weeks for 2 Adults & 3 Dogs. We will love to return here again. The owners were also great at communication and answering any questions we had. There is no satellite or Terrestrial TV but considering its remote location the internet was good so Freeview, Netflix etc all available on the smart TV (take your own smart tv and connect it to the WiFi - we did). A great find this one.

  • "We loved our week in Scotland the cottage was clean and made up as per our request."

There were a couple of hiccups while we were there; however, this didn’t impact on our time there. After a couple days the water went off in the cottage. Andrew was fantastic and responded quickly to help us out. The water was back on soon after. We also had a power cut but this was planned from the electric company. Like I said this didn’t impact on our holiday and we would definitely book this cottage again. The location is so peaceful and the walks/views are stunning. There is so much space and you have highland cows right outside. We had all the amenities in the home with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and a large kitchen diner, the home is warm and we had to turn it off just to use the log fire. Fantastic home and a fantastic time spent there.
