  • “Orion Lodge is the best lodge I have stayed in by far.”

    A lot of care and planning has gone into it which made it extra special. We are a family from Portsmouth on the south coast of England. 3 pensioners, 2 X 40 somethings and a 7 year old, not forgetting our little Chihuahua. The whole lodge was greatly equipped, especially the kitchen that had everything we needed and more. Didn’t get to use the log burner unfortunately as the heating is set to 20° and we were lucky with the weather. The views are fantastic, had 2 very quiet neighbours, sheep ...

The views are fantastic, had 2 very quiet neighbours, sheep to the right, chickens along the drive, lots of birds on the feeders and tree’s, easy to find on Google maps. Sadly a previous guest had left their dog unattended so there was some minor damage to the patio door, but doesn’t effect anything. Owners made it very clear dogs are not allowed on furniture, beds or to be left alone for that reason. Please respect their wishes as it really is a lovely place. The lodge is beautiful and I would highly recommend it. A handy little Spar shop and post office is at the end of the road, turn left as you leave the lodge drive, and the bottle bank a mile away in the other direction. Fort William high street was nice, as was the Morrisons and we had a meal in the Brewers Fayre. My only complaint, which is nothing in the greater scheme of things, were the cushions and pillows being on the flat side. Thankfully we always take our own pillows for that reason. The utility room is a bonus as I got most of my laundry done before leaving. I can’t thank Alan and Pam enough for creating such a beautiful holiday home. If I ever brave the 500 mile drive again Orion Lodge will be at the top of my list. Thank you!

The property

Roybridge 1 mile.

An impressive wood built eco-friendly detached cottage ideally situated with stunning views across to the Grey Corries and the fabulous Nevis Mountain Range, in the hamlet of Inverroy, one mile from the village of Roy Bridge in the Scottish Highlands.

This contemporary, yet very homely, cottage would be ideal for a family group or group of friends who want space to spread out and relax.

With the accommodation over two floors the ground floor has a high ceilinged living space with an extremely well-equipped fitted kitchen, a generous dining area and a cosy seating area with comfy chairs around a woodburning stove and windows that provide the views you always wanted.

From the central living area there is access to a double and twin bedroom and smart family bathroom.

Open tread stairs lead up to a spacious mezzanine sitting room with lovely leather chairs and again, from the comfort of this upper floor space, the views can be fully appreciated.

Just off this sitting room is the master double bedroom with en-suite shower room.

A large lawned garden lies to the front of the cottage and this will be an ideal space for outdoor games and alfresco dining during the summer months.

If you can force yourself to leave this beautiful home then there is much to do and see in the area.

Fort William, known as the outdoor capital of the UK is just a short drive away and here you can take a strenuous day to walk up Ben Nevis or have a more relaxed approach and just do some shopping!

Closer to home Roy Bridge offers great walking opportunities with lovely tracks leading into spacious and peaceful areas where wildlife abounds and tranquillity rules.

However you will be keen to return to this perfect holiday home and enjoy the comfort it provides.

About the location

ROY BRIDGE

Fort William 11.5 miles; Inverness 58 miles;

Roy Bridge which in Gaelic is Drochaid Ruaidh meaning "the bridge over the Roy" is a small friendly highland village situated some 3 miles east of the bigger village of Spean Bridge in the Scottish Highlands. There is a craft shop, cafe and two hotels where good service, good food and good cask ales are assured. The larger village of Spean Bridge has a well stocked village shop, woollen mill and several cafes and restaurants. Close by is the famous Commando Memorial which stands some 17ft high, and comprises a group of three bronze Commandos dressed in typical World War Two uniforms. This is a haunting and popular stop off for visitors and was built to commemorate their training ground in this area. The vibrant town of Fort William is a short drive away and from here guests can venture a little further south and visit the Glencoe Museum and learn more about the infamous massacre.
