"Loved loved loved coast house."
Cannot fault it and cannot wait to return!
"Wonderful warm, spacious and comfortable house with outstanding sea views."
House has everything you need for an enjoyable experience. Location is excellent. Will definitely be returning. Thanks
"Beautiful house with amazing views."
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful relaxing time away with absolutely stunning views.
"This is a beautiful home from home and which has stunning views."
We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the wildlife which came to visit and will definitely return to this beautiful part of Scotland. Our thanks to Isobel who made us very welcome.
"Coast House is in a stunning setting with sea views that are forever changing."
It has the most relaxing dining area window to sit at and read or watch the birds and wildlife. The house is very well maintained and in good decorative order; comfy beds and sofas; excellently equipped kitchen. It is spacious and helpfully has three bathrooms. The house had been well cleaned and beautifully presented for our arrival. The location is perfect for visiting both Ullapool and Gairloch and is a few minutes drive from Gruinard Bay beach where we swam and paddle boarded. Would we book again? Definitely !
"Our week at Second Coast, was, just like our previous visits, excellent!"
Fabulous views, private location, clean, comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen. We did miss the piano though! Isobel was very helpful and friendly, and obviously kept a close eye on the management of the property. We will be back next year.
!! Coast House is one of the best houses that we have stayed in. The house was lovely and the view was stunning.
"A nice house in a spectacular situation, broadly well equipped -- although it would benefit from old and very low powered CFC light bulbs being replaced by more powerful LED bulbs throughout."
Our holiday came close to being ruined by the sudden failure of the cooking gas supply in the middle of cooking a mid-week supper -- a failure which, it transpired, was due to this supply coming from a single propane cylinder which was clearly low when we arrived and soon became empty. After a rather fraught series of phone calls to the (distant) owner, the problem was solved by the eventual appearance of a charming young man (who turned out to be the owner's cousin) with a fresh cylinder in the back of his van. All's well that ends well, but I cannot for the life of me understand why the owners do not install the conventional arrangement for such systems, of having two cylinders and a changeover valve, with instructions to the tenant to effect a change to the reserve if and when the current cylinder runs out. A simple inspection at each changeover to order a new cylinder if required takes no time and would obviate the annoyance and disruption occasioned by cooking facilities going down unexpectedly.
"Absolutely beautiful home in a stunning location."
The views are spectacular. We are looking forward to returning next year.
"Wonderful stay at Coast House."
Isobel who looks after the cottage is lovely and very helpful. The photos are accurate but do no justice to the actual situation and the breathtaking views. The house has everything you need. Kitchen is fully equipped, with lots of everything you need. In addition, which don’t find at many cottages, there is washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing machine tablets, cleaning materials, loo roll etc etc. very thoughtful and for an overseas visitors a real blessing. Can’t recommend this cottage highly enough and we will definitely be making a return visit.
"Beautiful cottage, beautiful setting and views."
Our 2nd visit here, it won’t be the last!
"The cottage was perfect for our week away."
The facilities were good. Most of what we expected was there. The bed was very comfortable (king Size) Shower rooms very good. A little disappointed that there was No basic Sky or DVD as listed in the internet information. (not a disaster). The views are to die for, fantastic. Seeing eagles and deer in the area was great. We enjoyed it so much that we have already booked for next June.
"Coast House is a wonderful place to stay."
It feels like a real home from home, well equipped, warm and comfortable. The view from the house is awesome, and we loved watching the changing colours, weather and wildlife from the panoramic windows. We have had a great week staying here, and really hope to return.
"Loved the cottage."
"It was a lovely property with a panoramic view & very peaceful area."
"A lovely modern well laid out , clean and spacious house set in a wonderful quiet location on the coast."
Excellent views of Gruinard Bay and the islands and hills ( mountains ). Local sandy beaches , excellent walks many with waterfalls. What more could you ask for ; well the weather was excellent too !
"Loved this house."
Great location, beautiful views - home from home
"We absolutely loved our stay in Coast House."
The view is just stunning and straight out to sea. So peaceful and private. Quality furnishings. The area and beaches are lovely and the drive to the house is beautiful. From the garden we saw deer, cormorants, seals and the resident robin and blackbird. Highly recommend a stay in this awesome place.
"A beautiful house in a perfect location."
We felt at home as soon as we arrived. Let's hope that prices go down now the pandemic is having less effect on foreign travel.
"This was our second stay in this wonderful place and once again we loved every minute of it."
The house has everything you need, its clean and comfortable and the views are stunning.
"The place truly is exceptional."
The pictures really do not do the views justice. Having breakfast or evening meal in the dinning area whilst watching the sun set was a real treat. Although off one of the main north coast roads it's very quiet and set back below the road so you feel like you have your own little piece of the coast. The weather the week we stayed (Aug 21) was exceptional and meant walking in the local area and trips to the beach were plentiful. Grunaird beach is a very nice calm, shallow bay and the sand seems to go on for miles into the sea before it starts getting deep. The water was also extremely warm meaning swimming in the sea was a magic experience. I would say this was one of the best UK holidays we've had for the last 20 years and well worth the long journey up from the Midlands. This place really is a gem.
"Amazing views and really well thought out cottage with everything you could need"
"Lovely house ,great location ,so peaceful ,lots of wildlife ,lady who was looking after the property,(not the owner) made sure we were OK and was so friendly ."
Would recommend the property really clean and comfortable with beautiful scenery from every window .Thank you .
"Very comfortable accommodation, in a fantastic setting, with lots of walking opportunities, including the local community woodland at Laide."
Local post office/shop/petrol station at Laide was very handy and well stocked. Could benefit from a coffee making machine…we took our own.
"Lovely house with wonderful views."
It was warm and comfortable with everything we needed for a fantastic stay.
"Excellent, spacious house with fantastic views across the bay."
The house is set back from the road in a very private setting. An ideal base for visiting the area. Would recommend visiting the beaches at Mellon Udrigle, Firemore, Redpoint and the beaches at Gairloch. Lots of walks in the area from easy to the more adventurous. Discovered a cave just west off the house. Start point is a small wooden post between a couple of large laybys. Excellent small shops in Laide, Aultbea, Poolewe and Gairloch. Saw a Tesco delivery van everyday so you may be able to arrange an online delivery to the house rather than take everything you need. Saw otters, deer, seals, wild goats and buzzards in the area.
"Superb location excellent property absolutely fantastic holiday"
"We had a lovely week in Coast House, so much so that we have already booked to return!"
It is very conveniently situated on the main road, but is well below it and on the sea side which means there is no traffic noise and it is very private. The views are magnificent and we enjoyed being able to walk down to the coast from the back garden (although there is no clear path and it is quite steep). The garden was tidy and pretty, and it would be lovely to sit outside, weather permitting. The house is spacious, very well appointed and comfortable, warm and the water is very hot. The kitchen is very well equipped - Coast House felt more like a home than a holiday house. The utility room was an unexpected bonus. The housekeeper Isabel and the owner responded promptly to a couple of queries about the heating - a little bit more information on how it works would be helpful for future guests and would have meant we wouldn't have needed to bother them! All in all, highly recommended - thank you.
"The cottage was fantastic had everything needed for a brilliant two weeks a real home from home experience with absolutely awesome views, lovely wildlife."
and a beautiful setting. The cottage was also not to far from any amenities with post office, garage and cafe's virtually on the doorstep and only a few miles from Gairloch. would suit walkers or any travellers using it as a base to explore the area. fantastic beaches in very close proximity. lots to praise the place about and nothing to complain about at all. A truly magnificent holiday
"The roads are now very busy with Campervans and Motorbikes 'doing' the North Coast 500 route, which makes travelling in the area less pleasurable than it used to be."
Many of the laybys and roadside parking areas have Campervans in overnight.
"We thought the was fantastic."
Home from home, yet still a holiday home. The views were outstanding, more than we expected from the advertising photos. The house also was "better' in reality to the photos. Would definitely recommend Coast House.
"This is a lovely place in a stunning location and the handwritten information was a nice touch."
However, it was short on information for using the kitchen appliances particularly the oven, in addition there was no information about the heaters, which would have been helpful when it turned colder. Furthermore some information about local restaurants, cafes and other attractions would be helpful.
"Tolles Haus mit traumhaftem Meer-Blick in herrlich ruhiger Lage, das dazu sehr gut ausgestattet ist!"
Nette, unkomplizierte Vermieterin! Sehr gern wieder!!!
"Fantastic cottage sitting on the edge of the north west of Scotland."
Views to die for and a very cosy and comfortable house. We would move in tomorrow
"Like a home from home, but it's better than your own home!"
The owners have an amazing eye for detail which makes all the difference. It's the perfect base for a Highlands holiday, much as we don't want anyone else to know about it, it just is, and the majesty of the Highlands needs sharing as much as it needs preserving. We'll be back as soon as possible!
"What an amazing house!"
So well appointed and furnished. Beautiful views, and a stunning location. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it so anyone who wants a perfect getaway from the stresses and strains of life!
"What can I say apart from absolutely amazing."
Could not fault a single thing and wouldn't change anything about Coast House. It's so homely and everything has been thought out so well. We were made to feel so welcome and the lovely little touches made it extra special. It was our first visit to Coast House and hopefully wont be our last. A true diamond in the Highlands.
"Coast House is the best holiday home we have been to, the house itself is very spacious and the views are to die for, could not have better views anywhere, we would definitely book this house again."
"This is a beautiful house with stunning views."
We hope to book again for next year.
"One of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in."
view amazing, cottage delightful and has everything in it you can need. Thankyou
"Beautiful views from a lovely comfortable and spacious house."
"The coast house was fantastic, every thing we could have wanted, views fantastic."
The cottage itself perfect. Shall be returning
"The cottage is in an outstanding location - absolutely stunning views (although we were lucky to have beautiful weather)."
The house itself is lovely - a warm, welcoming home from home with a cosy wood-burning stove to hand if you want to heat it up even more. The local shop has most items you could need as well as petrol. Lots of gorgeous sandy beaches within 2 miles of the cottage - ideal for walking the dog. We would go back in a heartbeat!
"Beautiful cottage in an amazing location."
Cannot fault our stay - will be booking again for sure.

This delightful detached cottage is situated in the hamlet of Second Coast, two miles from the larger village of Laide in the Wester Ross region of Scotland.
With stunning sea and mountain views, this lovely cottage is an ideal base for a family or group of friends and provides a great Scottish getaway.
After taking in the wonderful views, you enter this superb holiday home via French doors into a modern kitchen/diner which also has a small sitting area from where you can soak up the views whilst enjoying a morning coffee, or cold drink in the evening.
From here you go through into the homely sitting room with a woodburning stove that will keep you warm on winter days.
There’s no better way to relax after a busy day than to light the stove and to forget about the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Completing the ground floor is a double bedroom and a shower room.
Up on the first floor are two further bedrooms both with velux windows and views of those brilliant views.
The twin bedroom has a seating area and the master king-size double also has a seating area, along with a dressing room and an en-suite shower room.
Just two miles away is the lovely sandy beach of Gruinard Beach, and you may wish to take a boat trip to spot wildlife from Gairloch.
Also just a couple of miles away is the village of Laide offering a Post Office, shop and petrol station, plus the National Trust owned Inverewe Gardens are within reach, and the town of Ullapool is within driving distance offering enhanced amenities.
A charming holiday home with a mix of beaches, walks, wildlife and scenery in the area.
