Deer House was very clear and well equipped, loved the slow cooker. Personally I found the bed little uncomfortable, slated bed basis don't wark for me.

  • "My sister and I had a wonderful week at Deer Cottage."

It was very well equipped, it had absolutely everything we needed. The cottage was extremely clean and very comfortable. We loved the reclining chairs! The heated towel rail in the bathroom was very welcome too. We liked the location of the cottage as we love all the walks in the area. We couldn’t get out one day due to severe storms but it was lovely just to sit and relax at the window and watch the weather. There was a power cut too but we’d brought candles with us so we were absolutely fine. We had stayed in your other cottage for 3 years in a row and we thought we might be disappointed in Deer Cottage, but it was absolutely lovely and really suited us. In fact we liked it so much that we’ve booked up for next year!

Only thing it needs is some info on what to put in the recycling bin and instructions for washer etc. But it is a lovely base to explore the area wouldn't hesitate to book again

  • "Deer House is the ideal place to go if you want a peaceful break in beautiful surroundings."

Good base from which to explore the north west of Scotland. The house was very clean and comfortable. Loved the table and benches in the garden. Just about everything you need for a perfect stay. The only thing I would suggest is to add a small table indoors, to be used for glasses or cups, when sitting on the sofa or chair. I improvised by turning the laundry basket upside down and that worked! Would recommend Deer House.

  • "Deer House is lovely, especially if you are wanting somewhere literally in the back of beyond."

We'd read previous feedback and no, there's no hairdryer so we took one and, yes, the duvets are a little thin but we took an extra throw, however, the cottage was warm enough to not even bother. The only small criticism we have is no instructions for anything were left by the owners which would have been handy, especially for the washing machine. Other than that, Deer House was wonderful, in a beautiful, peaceful setting and is highly recommended by us.

  • "The property when you firs arrived looked good but the double bed was very thin and could feel the slats under, the arm chairs in the living room are well past there best , the cooking equipment is very poor only one pan for frying and it was too big for the cooker ring and did not heat up properly as for the rest !"

!! the Wi Fi it must be the least expensive router you can get as it was very very slow the TV is free view as I have at home and works at the property it is very patchy so you need the Wi Fi and there is no radio signal or Phone signal as well and the shower is very poor as well be carful you dont get burnt over all the property is poor for the monies there are charging I have been doing this type of holiday for the past 30 years and I can say it was poor not what I was expecting

Hi Ray I'm takeing this opportunity to respond to your comments first off both beds and mattresses were all new from a furniture company when the property was opened two years ago and certainly were not cheap and this is the only comment I have had about them but will look into it. I will look into replacing the sofa as this was not brought to my attention before, Had you contacted me at the start of the week I could have supplied another frying pan and will add one to the property now In regards to the WiFi it is not a cheap router as you are implying, to get Internet in a property you rely on the phone company and the service it provides. As this is a rural property running of the existing landline there's nothing more I can do to improve this, the router is a new BT home hub and changeing it will not improve the speed. The Internet is fast enough for emails, Facebook general Web surfing but can be slow if you intend to stream movies as a example this is a rural location at the end at the end of the line so you can't expect city center speeds. The TV was checked before you went in but I will investigate to.see if there is a issue with the ariel. And lastly It is frustrating about the phone signal it was thought when the new mobile mast was build a mile away this would help but unfortunately the geography of the area doesn't help to improve the signal where the house is. • "A very nice cottage in a very good location."

Also very warm even in January I didn’t need to use the wood burner but I’m sure on the coldest days it’s a welcome addition. Was a little surprised not to find a welcome pack. Milk etc. also no information booklet on how things worked but that aside I really enjoyed my week in Sheigra. The walk up the peat road is a good one and the views over to Sandwood are worth the effort. The beach is ten min walk and is spectacular as is Oldshoremore beach Would recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful remote break

  • "Deer House is very light and airy with a modern open plan interior, well equipped kitchen and very comfortable seating in the lounge area."

Our only issue was that the beds are doubles, not king size as described. That said, they were comfortable. The house feels warm and welcoming as you return from your day out, and the heating can be adjusted as you wish. It is situated in a very quiet area, close to a lovely beach and paths along the headland, and a short drive to the car park for the walk to Sandwood Bay, which was high on our to-do list.

  • "To say we paid near a£1000 for the week the beds were so uncomfortable, we hardly slept at all, the duvet was the thinnest ever seen and the pillows were discussing, when you've been out for the day sight seeing or walking you expect to come back to a comfy bed you can wrap up warm in, the quilt that was so small it wasn't fit for two people, there was no information about anything near us and nothing to say welcome."

Everything we used in the house, cutlery plates etc were the cheapest and I expect more...I will say it was clean. I did ask advise before about shopping as well were going to be late, but not alot if help. I find paying so much you expect perfection or comfort at least. I have tried for 4 years now on different companies to find the perfect place....I am now giving up and just going to hotels.

What fantastic location if you want isolation and majestic unspoilt views. The cottage was spotless upon arrival, it is very well equipped with, washing machine, dish washer, fridge with small freezer, ironing board and iron, hairdryer, all the pots and pans you're going to need. The cottage is lovely and warm heated by a number of storage heaters, we didn't need to light the log burner as we were warm enough. Thwcottage has WiFi albeit quite slow but it's enough to get emails and it manages to stream Netflix to the main TV. There is a small Spar shop in the nearest village Kinlochbervie, which has most things you're going to need. If you'd like to see Red Deer take a night time drive towards Durness, as we did and saw about 30+ on the road at different times. We're already thinking of booking again for next year. Loved it!

  • "Wonderful stay, cottage well equipped, clean and tidy."

Very relaxing. The Wi-Fi however, was virtually non-existent, with speeds <1Mbs. This is not enough to stream anything of course but not even enough to make a Wi-Fi call on your mobile, given there is no mobile phone coverage in Sheigra either. I think guests should be aware of this as you really are cut-off from the outside world (which we liked and really appreciated on this particular holiday) but if you stay with young family, need to make calls or check emails then you will be left very frustrated with the Wi-Fi availability at Deer House.

Very peaceful and the property was very well equipped. The only downside is the Wi-Fi, we had to buy ours with BT, good but still slow. However, it was nice to switch off from our busy, hectic lives. The beaches are amazing, it’s very worthwhile walking to Sandwood Bay beach. All in all, we would definitely recommend this property, we shall definitely return! 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
