It had plenty of space, but cosy with everything we needed. It was a nice touch having the Christmas decorations up. The cottage was easy to find and in a great location to do walks from the house and close to the town of Knighton. I would definitely recommend it

  • "Lovely property, quiet and pretty views."

We were on holiday with my elderly parents who do love a walk and to sit in the evening and watch TV. Sadly, the internet was so weak that we couldn't access Netflix or any other internet based service. They do offer free sat, which is rubbish, hence we left the holiday earlier as my parents really wanted to be able to watch TV and relax.

Thank you for your kind words regarding The Old Farmhouse. Having been made aware that you couldn’t access the internet, we ordered a new hub which arrived the next day. We offered to set it up for you but you preferred to do it yourselves. We didn’t hear from you again and afterwards found that the new code hadn’t been put into the TV to access the internet connection. We are sorry you encountered this problem. The TV and BT business internet connection are now working perfectly, as they have done in the past. We want all our guests to enjoy their stay at the farmhouse and will always respond to queries, and work to resolve any problems, immediately. Property Owner

It's perfect for pets too with beautiful gardens and plenty of space for outdoor activities. The local area is also really lovely with some nice walks around the house too. You would need a car to get about - to pubs, shops etc as not everything is in walking distance but that is another reason we loved it. Thank you so much for our stay and I am almost 100% sure we will be booking again next year.

  • "We booked this farm house for a family get together, there was only 5 of us so we did not use all of the bedrooms but there would have been more than enough room for 10 people."

Everything you need is in the house, including beautiful fresh flowers, cake, butter and milk. Would recommend for a relaxing time with only sheep for neighbours. Owner is just across the road and very welcoming. If you get to stay here go outside and check out the stars at nighttime the night sky is amazing. House up a single track road but don't let that put you off, would definately love to come back. Thank you for a very chilled time.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Old Farmhouse."

It’s location is so beautiful, the house is just lovely (and exceptionally clean) and Michael and Elizabeth were always only a text or call away. Also, we brought along our very energetic dog with us and outdoor areas are brilliant (I loved the adjacent apple orchard). So much space for him to run about and explore and it was all completely fenced off, so we could let him explore without worry. Favourite elements were the wood burners, the view from the sitting on the sofa and the peaceful silence of the remote countryside! Highly recommend.

  • "If the owners want to attract families with young children they need to have a travel cot, high chair and removable stair gate for the bottom of the stairs."

Other than that the cottage was lovely, very spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. It was clean well presented and the beds were very comfortable. Having three bathrooms was a real bonus. The garden was fenced,so safe for children and the dog. The hammock in the orchard was a favourite with the children! The farmer and his family were lovely and when we needed some help with the television Elizabeth was prompt in her response and the farmer's son fixed the problem quickly, which is what you need with four young children! The area is beautiful with most attractions about a half hour drive away. We tried the Horse and Groom pub in the village and found them helpful with the children and the food was reasonably good 'pub food'.

A true home from home experience in the most beautiful location anyone could wish for . Little extras of homemade cake , fresh milk extra. Altogether a warm and friendly atmosphere and dog friendly too (although we didn’t bring the dog this time ) we were a party of 8 and there was plenty of space , no one felt cramped . The kitchen table could have easily fitted 10 . This was our second visit in less than six months and won’t be our last . Thank you for such excellent accommodation.

The house was immaculate and exceeded our expectations. All the bedrooms were well furnished with comfortable beds - and the sitting-room was spacious enough for all the family to sit in comfort. We especially like the fact that we could sit out on the covered terrace at the back, even on a cool autumn evening. The house is perfect for a large multi-generational family get-together and the lawn is ideal for the children to play games. Michael and Elizabeth went out of their way to ensure that we had a great time - and gave us lots of material about things to do in the area.

It really suited us with the zip and link beds ideal for singles and couples. The space allowed us to chat to the chefs as they prepared our evening meal whilst the rest of the group enjoyed the views from the lounge area. The garden was all safely fenced in and there were several seating areas again making the most of those views. We're already thinking of returning to this beautiful house but at a different time of the year. Julie- Gloucestershire

The property

This delightful farmhouse can be found nestled on the border of the Welsh Marches and the Shropshire Hills.

Offering stunning views of the countryside and the surrounding fields of the owner’s farm, it’s a beautiful place to spend a tranquil trip.

The house boasts enchanting features and has been carefully renovated to a high specification with the comfort of its guests paramount.

The porch/conservatory adjacent to the kitchen is a place to kick off your boots, put your feet up and relax.

In the morning you can have your coffee in the sunshine and in the evening watch the sunset.

Enjoy the view of the landscaped terrace with its pretty planting and a glimpse beyond of the rolling hills.

At the heart of the well-appointed kitchen is a handmade oak dining table for everyone to gather for laid-back breakfasts, lazy lunches and delicious suppers.

There is a woodburner and a sofa for extra cosiness.

The south-facing sitting room is a lavish spot for family and friends to relax together, with another magnificent woodburner within a feature brick wall.

Lie on the Chesterfield sofa with a good book (there’s a selection for you) and a glass of wine, and enjoy the stunning panorama from the picture window – or on a sunny day roll back the doors and bask outside on the patio sun loungers.

For autumnal and winter breaks there is underfloor heating to ensure that this is a snug retreat at all times of the year.

Take a step down from the sitting room to get to the first bedroom in the property, with a top-of-the-range shower located opposite; it’s an ideal room for those with limited mobility.

Upstairs you will find four more comfortable bedrooms accompanied by two luxury bathrooms.

All five bedrooms have excellent quality beds which can be made for a super-king, twin or single bed; whichever suits your requirements.

Outdoors, children will enjoy the freedom of the lawn and adjacent apple orchard.

There are beautiful walks to do on and around the property.

Afterwards bring the whole family/group together around the barbeque/fire pit for sizzling burgers, roasted veggies and stews.

The property offers beautiful, rural landscapes and is just a five-minute drive to the charming market town of Knighton where you can find diverse shops including a supermarket, a butcher selling the best butter ever, and an organic farmer’s shop with seasonal produce and a range of handmade goods.

There is a habadasher (cushions, hankerchiefs, socks, pyjamas, fabric); the kind of store which used to be on every high street but is now a rarity.

Look out for events at the Community Centre which hosts the Knighton Food and Craft Market on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month; Also visit the Offa’s Dyke Centre, a venue for many walkers, with the famous section of Offa’s Dyke running between Wales and England.

There is great pub food here and in the surrounding area.

There are many nearby destinations of note; impossible to list them all: Ludlow Castle, “Probably the loveliest town in England” – John Betjamen.

National Trust Croft Castle and Berrington Hall.

Presteigne – The Judge’s Lodging museum; music festival in August.

Leominster – antiques central.

The annual Carnival and Show held on the last Saturday of August is an unmissable event. The Old Farmhouse will be the perfect venue to bring your loved ones together for a memorable trip, exploring some of the best countryside the UK has to offer.
