"The property was beautifully presented and well-equipped."
It was extremely comfortable and we very much enjoyed our stay.
"This was our second visit to Chapel House and was as perfect as the first."
The property has everything you need for a perfect holiday. A home from home! A very good location for visiting places of interest and restaurants. We would strongly recommend a stay here. Steve and Ann
"We were welcomed to the house and shown round by Susie, which was a lovely introduction."
Everything we needed was there for us and a lovely welcome pack. The house is beautifully decorated, with lovely attention to detail and with reference to the house's history as a chapel. It was perfect for our lovely family holiday (all adults). The only problem was finding the BBQ gas bottle empty, but this was a one off and if we had noticed earlier in our stay I am sure it would have been replaced straight away.
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed staying at Chapel House and many apologies for the gas bottle for the BBQ running out. Now replaced. Property Owner
"Our second visit to Chapel House - this time under different ownership."
We were concerned things may not be as fantastic as our first visit. Delighted to report it was! Lovely welcome from Susie, the housekeeper. Lovely welcome pack. Spotless throughout Five star again! Only one tiny bit of negative feedback - check out is 10 am and checkin for the next lucky guests is 3 pm so we were rather disappointed to have gardeners mowing and strimming the gardens from 8.30 am while we were having breakfast in the garden. Maybe this could be done in the 5 hour handover time?
Thanks for suggesting that gardening should take place after checkout time. I’ll make sure this happens in future and I’m sorry that it spoilt your last breakfast outside. Glad though to hear that you once again enjoyed your stay at Chapel House and thankyou for the very positive feedback Property Owner
"A stunning property, 5 star facilities, we didn't want for anything."
Lovely welcome from Susie too!! Can't wait to return Thank you Liz, Rob and family
"Fantastic property , beautiful stained glass."
everything for luxury living.
"This beautiful Chapel was our home for 7days."
From the first ‘Wow’ when walking through the Chapel doors, it simply embraced us. Large, spacious accommodation with perfect layout for our family requirements. Well equipped for luxury living - simply the best! A privilege and joy to stay in this exceptional property. To any future occupants….treat this beautiful home with love and respect and the magic will be returned in abundance.
"Fabulous property & easily the best we have ever rented from Sykes."
Susie the Housekeeper was wonderful, and especially helpful when the smoke alarm started beeping due to a battery needing replacement. She organised for the handyman to call round & it was fixed within an hour or so of our call to her. Excellent service. Car parking is perfectly adequate for a Ford Fiesta & a Renault Clio: no problems with space at all. Superb property in a lovely location. Would highly recommend this unique property which has been very tastefully converted from a Chapel.
"This was a fabulous holiday property!"
The chapel has been beautifully converted and looks stunning! All three bedrooms are sumptuous. There was a lovely, friendly in-person welcome and a welcome pack which was much appreciated. The kitchen is well stocked with assorted crockery, pans, cooking utensils and pots. Lovely breakfast option of seating at the kitchen island and a beautiful large dining table. Lovely two sitting areas off the stairs on the upper floor. It was a wonderful and enjoyable experience for us all to stay in such a beautiful, well equipped chapel. Easy access from the chapel to shops, tourist destinations and the lovely beaches. Many thanks for a great holiday!
"An absolutely astounding conversion."
The use of space, taste in decor, attention to detail topped off with 1st class cooking and bathroom facilities make this, by far, the most interesting and best self-catering property we've stayed at.
"Chapel House is a stunning building that has been cleverly converted into a comfortable and welcoming holiday home."
We particularly enjoyed the bright, light, open plan living spaces, the cosy snug and the sun trap garden. The kitchen was well stocked and all the appliances worked perfectly (although it would have been nice to have a bit more worktop space for preparation). The only real negative was a lack of recycling facilities: whilst there were separate recycling bins inside the house, we were told everything gets collected together. As avid recyclers at home, that was surprising and disappointing. Apart from that this really is a top class property in a stunning location. We would highly recommend it.
I’m glad that you enjoyed your stay at Chapel House. Thank you for your remarks about recycling. We recycle glass and newspapers but will look again at how we can do a separate collection for card and cans Property Owner
"Perfect Place to stay."
Spacious accommodation, very nice touches, welcome hamper was appreciated. Susie who greeted us & showed us around was lovely. Good base to explore. Pubs and petrol station nearby, we had a food delivery too. When we come back we will look to book again. Nothing more to say except don’t hesitate BOOK IT!
"Absolutely amazing accommodation."
We didn’t want to leave. We felt properly looked after with everything you could possibly need. Such a stunning property. Loved the fact that we were greeted and shown round. The views were amazing so quiet no noise or light pollution in the evenings. The only thing I would Say is it would be nice to have a key safe somewhere that as guests we can use to pop a key in and don’t need to take out with us as we did a lot Of walking and to the beach etc so we were worried about loosing it.
Thanks for your suggestion. Keysafe box now in use for guests to use Property Owner
"We had a week at chapel house and it’s a fabulous property."
There was only two of us but plenty of room for 6 people. I think the most important things you need to know are. Are the beds comfortable ….. absolutely. Is heating and hot water good….. absolutely. Cleanliness perfect. Fixtures and fittings all high quality The original chapel stained glass windows are beautiful and obviously not double glazed so you get a little traffic noise but it’s not a busy road so not too much of a problem Susie, the housekeeper met us at checkin and A very generous welcome pack was provided 100% recommended
The attention to detail in this property is incredible. We were very warmly welcomed on our arrival and felt totally relaxed throughout our holiday.
"The chapel is a fantastic place to stay, such a wonderful conversion, every room ..."
The chapel is a fantastic place to stay, such a wonderful conversion, every room was clean, showers all worked perfectly, I’m fussy and could not fault this property and I can only have praise for it and wouldn’t hesitate in rebooking again
"An exceptional holiday “cottage”."
I had always wondered what living in a converted church would be like - this has been so imaginatively and wonderfully converted with such attention to detail and is so beautiful I cannot believe it can be bettered. I highly recommend this property and the only negative feedback I can give is to say how much we all regretted having to leave at the end of the week! ❤️
"The chapel house is a truly stunning place -cosy, comfortable, warm yet light and airy."
Great grown up party venue. Only complaint is the parking space - tight space for two cars.
"A beautiful property."
The large window above the stairs was very impressive. The log burner really heated the chapel up on an autumn evening and made the place very cosy. Shame the chapel didn’t have a coffee machine which you would expect in a luxury property. The parking for two cars was too tight. You wouldn’t fit two family cars in and be able to alight your vehicle. Getting in and out of the parking spaces onto the lane was arduous.
"The Chapel House is truly amazing."
We enjoyed such a brilliant, relaxing week in this superb home. The chapel features are beautiful, the decor sumptuous, with remarkable attention to detail showing artistic and, at times, fun and quirky style. It couldn’t be improved. Our host, Sarah, was also so welcoming and accommodating and the house was so well equipped with everything we needed. The Isle of Wight is great too, with so much to see and do, and beautiful countryside and coastlines. Highly recommended for an outstandingly perfect stay.
Superb facilities and an excellent place for a relaxing family holiday. Plenty of space to relax and an absolutely first-class stay. Congratulations to Sarah on an outstanding conversion from Chapel to holiday home. Would highly recommend.
"Stunning chapel just wow"
"We were given a warm welcome by Sarah who showed us around and explained the workings of everything and had supplied a delicious welcome pack."
Chapel House is a brilliant place to stay - plenty of space and very comfortable. It is also in a quiet village with most places of interest within a short distance. We would certainly recommend it as a holiday destination.
"Fantastic accommodation, great location and a lovely welcome pack."
Ideal for anyone that likes walking and the quieter side of the island. Already booked for next year.
"Sublime elegance ."
.. a perfect get-away with attention to detail.
"We had a fabulous stay at Chapel House and wanted for nothing."
"I expected a stay in a converted chapel to be quite special and it certainly was."
I think we all said “wow” when we walked in! Original features remained, stained glass windows, stone arches, organ pipes to name a few, yet the kitchen, bathrooms and the overall feel were modern. Lots of space but it was cosy too. It was spotless, beautifully decorated and furnished. Sarah, showed us round and explained all the ‘tech’ and left a lovely welcome basket of goodies. Lovely situation close to footpaths and not far from the sea. A fabulous week that will definitely be repeated in Chapel House.
"We have stayed at Chapel House before and even with the new restrictions in place - sarah made us feel incredibly welcome and the place was incredibly clean and tidy."
The house is beautiful. The area is lovely and all in all we had a wonderful time. The only reason that i am unsure whether i would book again is not because of the house but the way that Sykes initially handled the pandemic. So i am not confident that they are the best company to book through - first refused refunds / date change, then refused refunds and only allowed certain date changes which cost people more, then refused a refund if you had changed your date. This was only after excessive pressure from Martin Lewis and the government. So Sykes you get 5/10. Sarah and Chapel house get 100/10 because the property itself is honestly amazing.

Ideal for those seeking a mix of coast and country, Chale is a picturesque farming village, nestled at the foot of St Catherine’s Down on the south coast of the Isle of Wight. The village itself offers an award-winning pub/restaurant with an excellent children’s play area, and breathtaking coastal and downland walks, especially to the 35ft-tall octagonal tower ‘St Catherine's Oratory’, locally known as the Pepper Pot. This medieval lighthouse was built in 1312 and is believed to be one of the oldest in Britain. The area of National Trust land around the Pepper Pot is a walker's and birdwatcher’s paradise, as the birds can be observed at eye level. Outstanding sunsets looking towards The Needles are quite a sight. Nearby you'll discover some of the island’s best sandy beaches, perfect for swimming, surfing and of course fossil collecting, where you might even discover the odd dinosaur footprint or two. Close by is Blackgang Chine, the island's premier family attraction and to the north is Osborne House, the former royal residence of Queen Victoria. Experience royal family life as you tour the nursery and private rooms of Victoria and Albert and their children. Wonder at the magnificence of the Royal Apartments including the sumptuous drawing and dining rooms, and the Indian-inspired Dubar Room. Stunning grounds looking out onto The Solent can be explored via a horse-drawn carriage or on foot.
