"This was my second visit to 3 Apsley Cottages."
It is spotlessly clean, cosy and warm, tasteful decor in line with the age of the cottage and has a comfortable bed. The owner Brionny was very helpful and left a delightful welcome pack. I hope to visit again.
"Had a wonderful four night stay at this incredibly cosy cottage."
The location is so peaceful and relaxing. The cottage was immaculately clean and tidy. The owner Brionny met us at the cottage and is a lovely lady and very welcoming, she even presented us with a welcome basket of goodies. I would highly recommend this property.
"Beautiful little cottage, ideally placed for day trips in all directions."
Cosy and well equipped. Brilliant communication with owner before arrival and very helpful. Cottage defiantly recommended.
"No issues to give highest marks."
A lovely cottage in a great location for exploring Kent. Highly recommended
"Lovely cottage, well equipped and very comfortable."
Welcome basket was amazing, so thoughtful. Cottage 3 miles outside Canterbury was in a great location to visit north Kent.
"Quaint cottage in a delightful village."
The cottage was very homely, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need for self catering. The welcoming hamper was much appreciated, thank you. Having the train station nearby was handy to go into Canterbury just 5 minutes away, also the designer shopping outlet in Ashford (just a 15 minute walk from Ashford station). Plenty of places to explore nearby and a little further afield. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
"A fantastic host lovely welcoming hamper very informative about places to visit."
Lovely clean cottage great location.
"Excellent accommodation, good location, comfortable cottage and beautiful surroundings."
There were also welcome gifts from the hostess.... Much appreciated!
"The cottage is perfect for two to explore Kent."
Brionny made us very welcome, showing us how everything worked, giving us suggestions for places to visit and leaving a lovely basket of goodies. The neighbours are friendly too.
"Lovely cottage and ideal location for exploring the surrounding area."
Brionny was a great host and welcoming. Lovely welcome pack on arrival too.
"Lovely cottage with great transport links."
Nice pub up the road.
"Nice little place."
Got to be a bit careful with the steep stairs but otherwise perfect. Good pub in the village and a shop for bits and pieces and you can walk into Canterbury along the river easily, spotting birds along the way. Good central location for seeing the coastal heritage as well.
"Lovely quaint cottage."
Owner showed us round and had left a hamper. Very close to bus stop which we used to travel into Canterbury. The village of Chilham is just down the road well worth a visit. We found it lovely and warm as we were there in a mild spell in winter. Stairs are steep but fine if careful.
"My 3rd visit to this cottage, and it's one of the best I've stayed in."
The owner always prepares it immaculately. The cottage is very close to a railway station (good for me), in a pretty village about 3 miles from Canterbury, along a beautiful walk/cycle path beside the Great Stour river. Also close to very good stretches of the North Downs Way.
"Very enjoyable stay in a comfortable and well equipped property"
"We had a lovely stay."
The facilities are very good with so many extras provided together with a well stocked welcome hamper which was very thoughtful and welcomed. Brionny met us and ran through everything which was appreciated. The cottage is well placed for visiting local attractions especially with the train station on its doorstep. The nearby local shop although small is well stocked. We thoroughly enjoyed the cottage and our stay
"A small, but well equipped and delightful cottage with a nice patio area and garden."
Situated in a lovely village with easy access to Canterbury and the Kent coast, it is a cosy retreat, and makes an ideal base from which to explore the area.
"Well equipped, comfortable bed, decent shower."
Maintained to a high standard. Very friendly owner who supplierd a very good welcome pack.
"A delightfull cottage for two people."
Set in a pleasant friendly village which is very convenient for Canterbury by foot, car or public transport. The facilities in the cottage are ideal and our hosts left a very helpfull welcome pack.
"We loved the little cottage and the setting."
Everything had been thought through. Our welcome basket was such a thoughtful gift. It’s our first time using Sykes, a friend recommended them and we will use them again because communication was so good which is usually what let’s things down. We’ll definitely be using them again. Thank you
"A charming delightful cottage, everything you want for a week away and the bonus is you are almost next to the train station with regular trains to Canterbury and the surrounding areas, there is also a bus stop a few yards away from the cottage."
Chartham has a lovely pub and you can easily walk along the riverside into Canterbury.
"Lovely, cosy little cottage for a couple, just a few yards from a railway station and a handy local store."
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Definitely recommended if you fancy a stay in east Kent.
"This cottage is a delightful country cottage for a couple."
The cottage was comfortable and warm and there were several personal touches, including a Christmas tree and welcome pack. The neighbours were extremely friendly and, had we needed there help, we are sure it would have been offered. We found everyone we met really friendly particularly in the local shop and pub. The proximity to the railway station and local walks gives you plenty of oppertunity to explore Kent. If we find the oppertunity we will return to this cottage.
"The cottage was lovely, clean and ideally positioned for sightseeing."
We did have an issue with the bed being uncomfortable but brought this to Brionny's attention and she said she would look to replace the mattress. Facilities were excellent and the cottage was very cosy. The welcome basket was very much appreciated.
So pleased to read that my last guest loved the cottage, but obviously disappointed to hear about the bed. My guests’ comfort is of paramount importance and I have immediately purchased a highly-rated posturepedic mattress for the cottage. Property Owner
"Such a lovely, and charming cottage!"
Brionny couldn't have made us more welcome and she seems to have thought of everything. Thankyou for the welcome basket which was gratefully received. And cleanliness second to non. This is a super place to stay and a lovely location for the village and all that surrounds it. Vineyard over the road open on Saturday's for group tours and the railway station just down the road for regular trains into Canterbury. We also had a lovely meal at the Artichoke pub in the village, with very friendly service. Can't wait to come back again!
Cottage brilliant, weather very good, location almost perfect - close to railway station (I don't drive & have a bicycle, suitcase & rucksack), good supermarket about 2 miles away, but along a very nice cycle path beside Great Stour, and local shop for sundry items. Sadly didn't manage to visit local pub, partly lack of time, and partly it appeared closed on the 2 occasions I tried - but this didn't detract from a great holiday.
"A super little cottage in a lovely village."
Everything provided for and a wonderful welcome basket. Very close to the railway station so perfect for getting around and only a 5 minute train ride into Canterbury.
"We enjoyed our stay in this charming and cosy cottage."
Ideally situated for visiting the area, five minutes train ride to Canterbury. Very good communication from the owner Brionny and an lovely welcome basket. The only downside was leaving!
"Return visit to 3 Aspley Cottages."
Enjoyable week in this pleasant , well equipped cottage . Excellent position with good access to public transport.
"This is an excellent base for a couple wishing to explore East Kent."
"The Cottage was very clean and the welcome basket was gorgeous."
Remote check in and key pick up was organised brilliantly and the Cottage had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Thankyou to Bryony for getting in touch and the lovely welcoming touches.
"We had a great time, good weather and plenty in the area to see and do."
The cottage was ideal for the two of us and really good to have onsite parking. There was a fantastic welcome pack waiting for us on arrival.
"The cottage was clean, comfortable and cosy."
It’s perfectly located for day trips around Kent and East Sussex. Brionny, the owner, kept us well informed about arrival times, location of key etc. and the welcome pack was much appreciated.
"Can't fault anything about the cottage."
Both location and facilities great. Particular highlights for me were (a) within yards of Chartham station (I travel by train with suitcase, rucksack and bicycle) (b) although nearest supermarket 2 miles away, there is a beautiful footpath/cycle path along Great Stour Way to get to it. But also, the village is very quiet & picturesque, with a good shop and pub.
"Beautifully presented cottage in a lovely setting."
The owner contacted us by phone two days before our holiday and also emailed us all the necessary information. Delightful welcome pace including wine! They also provided hand sanitizers and masks. A perfect base for exploring and many lovely walks.
"Beautiful cosy cottage, perfect for two and ideally situated to explore this picturesque county."
The owners were very helpful & (socially distanced) welcoming, as were the neighbours. Would definitely recommend & book again.
"Superb accommodation with everything provided that anyone would need."
Beautifully planned and maintained, and a lot of thought had been put into making it as Covid secure as possible. Perfect for a couple or for someone on their own. Ideal location within easy reach of Canterbury, the Kent coast and superb countryside in the North Downs. Excellent public transport links including a station with regular trains about 100 yards from the property. Highly recommended.
"Delightful cottage in a great location."
Easy access to Canterbury via the Stour way . Handy for rail and bus services. Lovely week exploring the southeast.
"We had a wonderful holiday here, Thank You, and fortunately just before Covid-19 Lockdown in March 2020."
The property is very charming, nicely decorated and most importantly very clean and tidy, very well equipped, warm and peaceful, in fact all you could wish for from a holiday cottage. We especially liked the conservatory for meal times morning and evening. The property location was charming too, very near the railway, and with a few super friendly sheep a few doors down, to the right, to visit and fed was a bonus too, to any animal lover. It was really good to be so near the small train station and to be able to catch the train into Canterbury within 6 minutes, it really enhanced our holiday. The village is very small and peaceful, with a lovely riverside walk and green spaces, plus a small but adequate village shop. Thank you very much for the wonderful welcome basket too, full of lovely essentials and treats.
"Lovely welcome pack to greet us."
Warm and cosy despite frosty mornings. Stayed twice last year and back again later this year. So convenient for station and bus stop just outside too. You wouldn't even need to use the car if you didn't want to. Tried the local pub for our treat night and that was gorgeous, especially the homemade lemon meringue cheesecake! Would definitely recommend
"Brionny was there at agreed time to welcome us and give a quick guide to the facilities."
There was a very nice welcome pack of goodies. We would certainly stay at Apsley Cottage again
"The peaceful setting, the friendly neighbourhood, fantastic welcome basket and great train links Brionny was a fantastic host and a great help."
We will definitely return.
"Great place to stay for exploring Kent made very welcome on arrival lovely welcome gift pack"
"Location was excellent."
.near the train for Canterbury and in easy reach of the coast and other places of interest.
"The cottage is in an ideal location."
For local amenities and for using as a base to travel around Kent. With Rail and bus routes right on your doorstep and spacious parking outside for your car.
"The location was excellent as well as the facilities of the cottage"
"The property was lovely, cosy, close to Canterbury and good travel links."
"Lovely cottage in nice village."
..would love to return some time
"A lovely cottage in a beautiful Kentish village."
"Wonderfully cosy and well-equipped cottage with a much appreciated warm welcome from the owner."
Chartham village is an ideal location for walking, there are footpaths and bridle paths everywhere. As there's a train station in the village you can do any number of fantastic linear walks or pop into Canterbury (under 10 minutes), without having to take the car. The village pub does good food and the village store is open until about 9 which was handy when coming back from a long walk. Fantastic holiday!
"Soft seating as well as dining chairs in the conservatory would have been appreciated as would the availability of a sun umbrella in the garden."
"Had a great time in this cottage!"
"We loved the welcome pack that Brionny had provided - those little extras are real treats."
The cottage was warm and cosy with books, dvds and games for those who want to chill out. The cottage is literally a minute away from the train station by foot but the trains did not disturb our break at all and, as I was working in Ashford, I could use the train and my husband had the car if he needed it. The bus stop is literally at the end of the drive so this is an ideal location if you want to soak up Kent without the hassle of driving. We have already booked again for March and will certainly use again, particularly if we are visiting in the autumn and winter. Lovely little place.
"What a great location for exploring Kent."
Right next to the railway station giving easy access to Canterbury just 5 minutes away. Great local hospitable pub, and a great level walk into Canterbury following the river.
"Cosy cottage, friendly owner, practical welcome basket, friendly neighbours, well stocked village shop selling local produce, efficient public transport."
"We have been to Aspley cottage 3 times and we've always enjoyed it."
We love the little village of Chartham and the cottage is so beautiful and homely. We also love seeing the animals in the friendly neighbours adjoining fields. The goats, sheep and hens and geese are so adorable and are lovely to watch. Train and bus transport on your doorstep means easy access to many lovely places. It really is an ideal place to visit.
"The cottage is nicely kitted out, we really appreciated throws, lovely old books about Kent and the OS maps."
Huge amount of things to see and do in every direction and lovely walks around the village. We appreciated the larder basics and the welcome pack and thoroughly enjoyed our week. Our first return visit to Kent after many years and had forgotten the beauty of the villages, Chartham certainly made a perfect base for exploring.
"Lovely cottage, very well appointed, trains and buses almost at the door, we left the car at home."
Very comfortable, nice and warm to come home to. very welcome basket of goodies and essentials , really thoughtful
"From the booking to the check out my husband and I had a wonderful Christmas break at the cottage."
It was our second year in a row and we wouldn't hesitate to book again. The cottage is in a perfect location. Close to the railway so you can park the car on the drive and leave it there until your return home. The welcome food basket was a lovely touch. The owners are a delight and take you on a tour on your arrival. It's a wonderful, comfortable place to stay. Would highly recommend.

The property is extremely close to good transport and in a beautiful spot in the south downs.
"Beautiful cottage, perfectly situated for exploring Kent by road or train."
Lovely welcome basket thoughfully left by the owners. Hope to come back next winter.
"Very easy to find the cottage and everything was at hand with lots of information on places to visit."
Close to the station so no problem getting into Canterbury and beyond. Very enjoyable break and recommended.
"The 3 Apsley cottage was really a nice cottage."
It was very clean and the welcome basket was just so nice. The location was really great and there was so much to see in that area. Having the train so close was a plus and we did use the train to visit Canterbury so we did not have to bother with parking. Also, the Artichoke pub, that Brionny recommended, had some of the best food, especially my steak pie.
"Well, the photo's of the propperty made us curius."
But when we in the cottage, we experienced the whole atmospheer ourself. And that was excieting. Mrs Brady gave us a warm welcome and told us everything about the house and the village. We feld immidiatly at home. No problem if you wish to publish our feedback, but please make sure it is in propper English:)
"We were very satisfied with the welcome and subsequent help we received from the owner when we reported a problem with a water leak in the kitchen."
She responded very quickly and sorted the problem for us while were out. She also kindly left me some flowers for our inconvenience.

This delightful terraced cottage is situated in the Kent village of Chartham, only a short distance from Canterbury.
This 19th century railwayman's cottage has been lovingly restored and beautifully furnished with lots of wooden furniture to reflect the Victorian period, including the cupboards in the kitchen.
With one large, attractive double bedroom and views over the well-established rear garden, along with fields where sheep and goats graze, this Chartham cottage is the perfect choice for couples looking for a romantic break.
The sunny bedroom also benefits from an en-suite bathroom, complete with a roll-top, claw foot bath; just the place for a long soak after a day exploring Canterbury, which is only three miles away.
The sitting room is warm and cosy at any time of year, with its woodburner to relax in front of, or guests can enjoy dinner with a glass of wine or two and watch the evening sun disappear over the garden through the French doors.
To explore Kent, this Chartham cottage is in the perfect location, with road and rail links close by, in fact the railway station is just a five minute walk away, and you can be in the heart of Canterbury before you know it, and without having to take the car!
Alternatively, guests could choose to walk or cycle along the Stour Valley Walk which follows the river from Chartham all the way into Canterbury, followed by a visit to Canterbury Cathedral after lunch, a trip down the river and then can enjoy a meal in one of the many restaurants, before taking your seats at the theatre in the evening.
However you choose to spend your days, this charming Chartham cottage is a wonderful place to return to.

Here you can find local produce, from homemade bread to freshly laid eggs, this is just the place to gather the things you need for a truly locally sourced picnic! The village green is the heart of the village, along with the listed 15th century timber-framed public house and the 13th century Saxon church famed for its bells and brasses.
