"Five star rating!"
Immaculate and so well equipped. A real home from home and really thoughtful extra touches like milk in the fridge and a packet of biscuits. Will definitely book again.
"We had a lovely week in Kent visiting some old haunts stretching back over half a century ago."
Nice friendly couple live on site. Will defo book again.Comfortable and clean/tidy chalet.
"My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 'Little Melrose'."
It was very clean and comfortable and the owner's were very friendly and helpful. We would be happy to stay there again one day.

Owners very welcoming and friendly. Enjoyed peaceful evenings in the garden. Would stay here again.

"This cottage has all the amenities you want for a good holiday and is in a very pretty area, the owner's are really helpful we had a great time this was our second visit and there will probably be a third in the future."
Hosts very friendly and helpful.
"A very nice cosy cottage."
As mentioned before a DVD player not there even though says should be one. We did miss this as often take some to watch. In a good location. Plenty of national trust properties nearby and within easy reach of the coast or Dover castle plus we enjoyed our visit to chatham historical dockyard. A property we would return to.
"We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit again"
"We had a great stay."
We stayed 5 weeks as we were between a house move. Loved the cottage and apple orchards, there are pubs nearby and some nice country walks near Yalding village. Well located to National Trust sites such as Bodiam or Sissinghurst. The cottage was nice and warm and had everything we needed during our stay. The kitchen is well equipped as well with all the mods and items. The owners were very friendly. Would love to return end of summer when apples harvest.
"Fantastic stay and hosts very helpful."
Great location for all the sights of Kent. Property warmed up quickly, the beds were the most comfortable we have had away from home and it had mostly everything we needed, although as no smart TV, it was a shame no DVD player, which was listed on property details. You will enjoy your stay here.
"Our second visit to this property - home from home."
Owners very friendly and helpful. Recommend highly.
"The facilities were excellent everything you require for a holiday plenty to see and do in area, we are going back next year."
"We found the mattresses too soft, you sink into the middle."
The sofas were low for us for getting up from them. Kitchen well furnished, though could do with a pair of tongs. Good size fridge and freezer. Nice big bathroom though bath awkward to get out of, maybe put a handle on wall like in the shower. We didn't like the fact we have to be out for nine o clock.
"Lovely place to stay, everything you need and very nice owners nearby if needed."
"Lovely place everything you needed was in there but would say the couches were a little low for the elderly, found it a struggle to get of it, also didn’t think much of the shower it was either to hot or to cold."
Besides that we both had a lovely week.
"Friendly Hosts Lovely setting Well situated for many NT & EH historic sites"
"A pleasant stay, owners very helpful, very restful."

"Had a lovely stay at Little Melrose."
Owners were lovely very welcoming and friendly. Cottage was lovely. Very Clean. Had a well stocked kitchen, big bathroom with shower. Enjoyed our stay.
"A charming cottage situated next to an orchard."
Very nice owners. We enjoyed our stay .
"Lovely clean comfortable cottage."
Directions to the property could be improved - we know the area a little but maybe use the Church as a landmark with directions from there. The tiled bathroom floor was immaculate but take great care as just a very small amount of water on the floor made the tiles incredibly slippery - even though bath mat was provided which could have been a bit bigger and thicker.
"This was our second stay at Little Melrose, a lovely warm and cosy cottage in peaceful surroundings."
It is comfortable and well-equipped, and just right for a winter break. There was even a small Christmas tree and a poinsettia to provide festive touches. The owners, Vicky and Brian are very friendly, and on our last visit they invited us to pick apples from the orchard. The cottage is in a convenient location for visiting some of the castles and National Trust houses in the area, and we enjoyed drives in the beautiful countryside too. We had a great time and would recommend a stay at Little Melrose.
"The property is warm, comfortable and has excellent facilities."
There is parking on site and a private garden to use in nice weather. It is quiet, peaceful and the owner is very friendly.
"Lovely stay at this property great location with an awful lot to do out and about."
"Friendly owners - really comfortable cottage in beautiful surroundings."
We enjoyed a great holiday.
"Every thing perfect home from home Brian and Vicky on hand if needed very friendly"
"A well-equipped and warm modern cottage, located in a quiet spot adjacent to an orchard in full bloom!"
Our hosts were welcoming and friendly, providing advice and guidance when necessary but giving us space as appropriate.
"A nicely positioned cottage for exploring Kent."
Very friendly welcome from Mr & Mrs George who were happy to help with information. Clean and well appointed cottage in the pleasant Kent countryside which we would be more than happy to visit again when visiting family and friends.
"All was fine."
Comfortable bungalow. Quite spacious, clean and everything there that's needed and useful. Single beds were comfy although they each had a double winter quilt on which were a bit heavy when you turn over. I felt a bit pinned down! Loved the large bathroom. It was easy to get the whole bungalow warm, and both tv and WiFi worked. Owners were there if any issues (I needed an adaptor for my toothbrush and they kindly found one). Here is a good base for National Trust visiting and although near a road, it wasn't noisy at night. I loved the positioning of the building with sun streaming in in the morning. I felt like I was in a French orchard. I could happily live here.
"A lovely place to stay, clean, comfortable and everything you need."
We found it a great part of the country and well situated for seeing everything Kent has to offer, we are members of the National Trust and were spoilt for choice as there are so many around the area. Our hosts Vicky and Brian were only next door and were on hand if we had any queries/questions. We will definitely return.
"A lovely cosy and comfortable cottage in a good location."
It was spotlessly clean and well equipped, including a supply of large fluffy towels in the bathroom. The owners, Vicky and Brian, were friendly and welcoming, and said we were welcome to pick apples from the orchard outside our bedroom window. Excellent wifi too! There are many wonderful places to visit in the area, including Hever Castle, Leeds Castle, Knole and Tunbridge Wells. The countryside is beautiful and there are many pretty and historic villages nearby. We had a splendid holiday!
"Beautiful rural setting, well equipped and clean accommodation."
Helpful owners onsite. Parking undercover was a bonus.
"Little Melrose is a super cottage."
Just had everything we needed for a comfortable holiday. The owners were lovely and even suggested changes to the way the beds were arranged in the bedroom (and moved the beds for us!) to make the bedroom easier for us to get around. Beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is spacious with separate shower cubicle and bath. The kitchen is very well appointed with dishwasher and washing machine. The weather (end of September) had turned damp and cooler and the central heating was very welcome. Husband has some mobility problems (but is not a wheelchair user), but he could easily manage the few shallow steps up to the front door. It was very convenient to have under-cover parking which helped when it was raining. So pleased we chose Little Melrose, great cottage!
"The Hosts ( Mr & Mrs George )were very friendly and helpful when needed"

"The cottage is in a small hamlet at the end of an orchard, very quiet."
Owners made us feel very welcomed and were friendly and helpful.
"This is our third stay and we intend to come again on our next annual visit to Kent."
"We had a very enjoyable week staying in Little Melrose."
We were given a very warm welcome on arrival by Brian & Vicky who were willing to provide us with anything we needed or wanted to know. Little Melrose was in a good location with a railway station at Marden about 10 minutes drive away which we found very handy. The kitchen was well equipped including a dishwasher and washing machine. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to our friends and family.
"We really enjoyed over stay in Yalding."
Great place for cycling and not far from Dover.
"Our hosts were excellent - welcoming, friendly and helpful."
They checked with us during the week that we were happy with everything, which we were. It was a comfortable homely cottage - a pleasure to go back to in the evenings.
"Lovely bright kitchen with good kitchen equipment."
Great having a good washing machine and clothes line for catching up with laundry.
"This is a lovely cottage, ideal for discovering Kent & East Sussex."
It is close to lots of National Trust Gardens, Nature Reserves and also Canterbury Cathedral. We visited lots of them and the Cathedral. Our Hosts Brian & Vicky were helpful, friendly and the cottage had everything you would need it was just like a home from home.

"The owner was very friendly and when contacted before our visit explained there would be a welcome pack waiting so that there was no need to worry about essentials."
The cottage was clean and everything you required was available. A good location for visiting both coast and country and would be a cottage to go back to.
"The holiday experience was perfect with perfect accommodation, with perfect surroundings, with perfect places to go, with perfect welcome by the owners."
Well done Sykes for finding us again another perfect location
"Exactly as described, very clean and comfortable, a nice relaxing week touring the Kent and Sussex countryside."
The Cottage is 30m from a fast (50mph speed limit), at times busy and noisy B class road, with traffic noise which could be heard even with all windows and doors closed, and so early morning listening to the bird song tinged with traffic was inevitable. In all, good value for money with a nice family and orchard on the same site.
"The cottage looked lovely in pictures, and was even better 'in person'."
We took our 5 month old twins on their 1st holiday, only about 60 miles from home, and we really didn't know what to expect having never rented a cottage before, but Brian and Vicki were so welcoming and helpful - thank you.
"My second visit to Little Melrose and as enjoyable as the first."
A perfect cottage in quiet surroundings and a lot of attractions nearby.
"The friendly welcome we received from the owners, even before we arrived, set the scene."
The cottage was spacious, exceedingly well-appointed, warm and comfortable and was a superb base from which to explore the many attractions in this part of Kent.
"Superbly presented and equipped."
Well located for exploring all that Kent has to offer.
"The bungalow was perfect."
Many attractions were within a half hour drive.
"Very comfortable country cottage with every need catered for."
"The cottage was very well appointed and our only problem was with the dishwasher."
We couldn't work out how to turn it on at first! We thoroughly enjoyed out time there and would be very happy to book it again.

About the location
Lamberhurst 8 miles; Maidstone 8 miles; Royal Tunbridge Wells 11.5 miles.
The small rural village of Collier Street, Kent, sits close to the border with Sussex and was once set at the heart of Britain’s hop-growing region, with whole families, often from London, arriving during the harvest to help bring in the hops. You're sure to find fresh produce locally, as today the fields are home to several crops including cherries, pears, strawberries and asparagus, but this area is more known for its apple orchards. The village is also only a few miles from the The Hop Farm Family Park, previously a brewery owned by the Whitbread family, now a popular family attraction and concert venue. The Kent County Showground at Detling is only a short trip away, where there are events throughout the year from dressage shows to craft fairs, ploughing contests and vintage transport displays. This part of Kent is scattered with historic houses and magnificent castles, including Leeds Castle, just ten miles away, said to be one of the loveliest in the world. If fishing is a favourite pastime, this rural location is a perfect choice, with two large lakes and three rivers to settle beside in the hope of a bite! Collier Street may be a quiet, country village but there is plenty to see and do within easy reach, perfect whether you’re seeking a weekend getaway or a long summer holiday.
