  • "The Barn was exactly what we were expecting."

One of our party had an operation the previous day so all we were looking for was a peaceful, comfortable stay with no distractions. Parking was just a few feet from the front door so perfect for moving in. Everything we needed was provided. The beds were extremely comfortable and the shower rooms were huge and spotless. We were able to visit Scotney Castle and Bewl Water, both very nearby. The Star pub in Matfield is perfect for a decent meal. We would highly recommend the Barn.

  • "The cottage is very nice and very clean."

Comfortable beds and bathrooms. Seating area in and outside were also to our liking. The only negative comment I have is that I could not read from the description on the website that dogs are not to be left alone in the cottage, which is quite a problem as you cannot take a dog to a supermarket or leave him in the car. I could leave my dog in the kitchen which is no more than 5m square. You will be checked if you let your dog in the room(s) I would not have booked this cottage if I knew beforehand.

not very clear on details of accommodation that there is no separate lounge area, so we were a little surprised to find that the seating and dining area is incorporated in the main bedroom. however we managed fine but would have been a struggle possibly if we stayed for a longer period of time. very quiet and calm feel to the place though, and good quality bedlinen and towels.

Thank you for your kind comments I’m sorry for the confusion about the living/dining space. I believe the studio bedroom is illustrated pretty well in the photographs, but possibly this is something we should address in the text. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Property Owner

Very nice and welcoming hosts. The cottage is well equipped. Everything is thought through from the torch on the bedside table to the dog towel, the hand soap in the kitchen and milk and Prosecco in the fridge - just everything. The kitchen is small, but we knew that. More of an excuse to go out to eat. The garden is secured so our dog could run around and have fun and breakfast on the patio was delightful too. If we stay in the area again, we’d definitely be back!

Great situation, very quiet, parking, lovely patio area. The cottage is VERY comfortable, has everything you need. The two en-suites are excellent. The host is very helpful and provided us with a basket of goodies on arrival, much appreciated. Lots of interesting information in the folder that was in the cottage and we accessed several of these. Close to many attractions especially NT which we used. All in all I would thoroughly recommend The Barn and give it 10/10. Should I be returning to this area of Kent, this would be my first choice. Thank you for making our holiday unforgettable.

  • "The only reason I didn't give 5 stars throughout were that it wasn't obvious from the description there was no oven - only realised a couple of days before the holiday when reading reviews."

Not a problem as we mostly ate out but I normally heat up a pizza the first night so was glad to have found out in advance so I could adjust plans. Also, tv has no signal - we realised from guest book that others had same issue so didn't complain, just watched Springwatch on the tablet instead. Might be worth letting people know there may be an issue so they can bring devices. Apart from that, a superb place with the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in, clean, quiet and beautifully decorated. Very handy for numerous attractions and just a couple of miles from a railway station for a day out in London or the coast.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay and managed the small kitchen. Due to its size there isn’t enough room for an oven, but we do try to provide as many facilities as possible. The TV can be a problem if the signal is bad (ie during stormy weather) as it relies entirely on 4G WiFi. Most people find it works fine but this is something we’re addressing. Property Owner

  • "A lovely barn which slept four which I think would have been a tight fit for that amount of people in terms of seating and table space but was ideal for two adults like us."

The two beds were a lovely size as were the rooms themselves but one bedroom had a wall mounted tv so could have been an issue if one person wanted to stay up later than the other to watch tv. The kitchenette was ideal if you wanted to eat out but there was no oven but to be fair you knew that in advance. Our only complaint was that the radiators in the bathrooms only came on twice a day and never got very hot. All the crockery, glass and cutlery was of a very high standard and everything you wanted was provided.

Thank you for your kind review and we’re glad you enjoyed your stay. I’m sorry you didn't let us know while you were here that the bathroom radiators weren’t warm enough for you. We could have happily changed the heat and timing. I hope we might see you again next time you visit Kent. Property Owner

Royal Tunbridge Wells has been a popular place to visit for over 400 years, ever since a natural spring, known as The Chalybeate Spring, was unearthed by chance by a young nobleman. Due to the discovery of these health-giving waters, Royal Tunbridge Wells quickly became a magnet to those looking to improve their well-being whilst enjoying the beautiful surrounding countryside. The Wells are still open from Easter to September, where a costumed ‘dipper’ will serve you a glass for a small charge. With a wealth of interesting history to discover, this spa town now offers a vibrant, bustling destination with shops, restaurants, bars, bistros and theatres surrounded by woodland and greenery. You only have to spend a day walking the cobbled streets, browsing the boutiques and mulling over the items to be found in any of the curio or antiques shops, tucked away in the side streets, to see why this ancient town is one of the most visited in Kent.
