  • "Overall we had an enjoyable stay but long-term issues don’t seem to have been dealt with."

The bifold doors do not open, which I believe have been broken for a year, only the adjacent door opens but grates when you open it. Only having two hot plates for eight people is unreasonable, luckily there was only five of us but this still gave us problems. Despite phoning me to say that the housekeeper would be coming with a maintenance man on Thursday to replace a broken mirror in a bathroom, nobody came. The two rear bedrooms are incredibly hot despite fans in both rooms. I know all the cupboards conceal lots of things but we never did find the microwave!

  • "Would have got 5 stars."

But no microwave, only 2 ring hob for a sleeps 8 property. No DVD/ Blueray player as listed and no instructions to operate cinema surround sound in cinema room. Also could benefit from some sun loungers. But fantastic property and views over Windermere fantastic.

  • "We have stayed in this fabulous house three times."

The facilities are first class and the location is brilliant, sat right on the lake. It is frustrating that you only get one set of keys which also operate the electric gate which is at the top of a long driveway. This means that you need to agree times of return with the rest of your family otherwise you cannot access the grounds or the house so you are kept outside on a busy road. The house was also very hot as it has lots of glazing to enjoy the views. The bedrooms especially with one room having no opening windows or ventilation.

  • "Brilliant property, lovely views across Lake Windermere."

Very clean, and we eventually found various items for cooking in the many cupboards. Beds were comfy, but 4th bedroom does not have a shower as stated in property details. (The couple in this bedroom had to share everyone else's shower - we couldn't swap as we are are all 'older' people and the baths to difficult to get out of!!) The cinema room and snug were great, as we often wanted to watch different programmes. Due to the gales on Friday 26th, and the widespread power cuts, we were unable to enter the property until Mon 29th Nov, and the central heating was difficult to alter so we found it quite cold, until it was altered for us. We would definitely recommend this property to rent.

  • "We had one of the most memorable special family and friends break away."

The house was outstanding. The views were absolutely breathtaking. The weather was on our side too. However there was just a couple of points to report...there was no gas for the Barbecue. The Bifold Doors did not open and close without force. The building work going on next door to us was not a problem at all with noise. But to wake up in the morning we wanted to see the beautiful views from our bedroom window with some privacy. Thanks again for the happy memories that we will treasure as a family forever.

  • "The location of the house was brilliant, right on the lake and the inclusion of the kayaks was something we enjoyed even in October!"

All the rooms were a lovely size and included plenty of soft towels and two bathrobes in each room which was a nice touch. The kitchen was fully stocked with any gadget you’d be familiar with at home. We had two families staying in the house and the only thing I would suggest to consider is the driveway/ parking. We were able to get two cars out the front of the house but we had to manoeuvre round the gate entrance each time one car wanted to leave so if there were more than two cars this may be more challenging. There is an additional parking space on the winding driveway and you could get a car parked up by the road. With this house being designed for up to 4 couples we only had one gate entrance key, so on the occasions that we wanted to go out separate we had to agree who would be back first to open the gate which was a slight inconvenience as there was no way down to the property unless you left the side door open on the latch. We had a slight issue with the electric gate on arrival and we couldn’t seem to easily see any out of hours support which was frustrating. We got a call back at about 1pm the following day so if we were really stuck then this was far too late to be helpful. The battery in the electric gate key was not connecting properly so we were unable to open the gate upon arrival however it wasn’t until the morning that we realised this was our issue. The instructions mentioned a triangle fob (which we did not have) so we thought this was our issue.

  • "We had a a fantastic stay at this beautiful property in a stunning location which the photos on the website don’t do enough justice too!"

Certainly a return visit will be done in the years to come! Just a couple of points, however, which we found slightly disappointing during our stay:- > on arrival at the property & after collecting our keys. We were unable to turn off the alarm which then sounded very loudly, for some time. After being on hold for about 10 minutes+, we managed to speak with someone and turns out we weren’t given a fob for the alarm at all with the keys! We then had to wait a further 30 minutes+ for someone to arrive to sort the problem. Needless to say this was a stressful start to the holiday and after being in a car for 6 hours+ it spoilt our mood. > We found the property too warm and with only one fan available- was very uncomfortable. So air conditioning or fans in each bedrooms would help. > The master bedroom had clear windows in the bathroom and meant we had to have the blinds down at all times for privacy, as this overlooked the building work next door. If they were frosted like the other bathrooms wouldn’t of been an issue at all. Other than those points we would recommend and would love to return once the building works have finished next door- as we had a lovely stay with the best view!

  • "This is the second time we have stayed in this superb property and have already booked again for next year."

The house was very hot and we could not find a window key to unlock the window in the front bedroom, it had the sun on it most of the afternoon so became very warm by night time. Also, there is a blu ray DVD stated on the website and we could not find a DVD player ? The BBQ had no gas which was a real shame but I understand there is a supply chain issue but it would have been nice to know beforehand.

  • "What a beautiful holiday home which provided everything for our stay, from sumptuous soft towels to the use of canoes with life jackets for 4."

The scenery is stunning, and hot tub was serviced everyday. There is some building work close by but the workers were so respectful and did not start any noisy work until after 9:00am, we did not notice them at all, thank you guys. We would certainly visit again to experience a property that provides a den for the younger members of our family, a Party Room with 60inch TV to watch Euros Football, and a kitchen dinning space to enjoy family dinning and drinks together for all. We are looking forward already to our next stay, thank you.

There was no teapot or basics light cling film and tinfoil. There should be more cutlery and plates. Other than that a very nice house. Just needs a little more attention to detail to bring it up to 5 star

The property

A truly contemporary, luxurious property lying on the shores of England's largest lake, Lakeside at Louper Weir is a delightful detached house offering a unique escape to Windermere.

Whether you are bringing your family together to make happy holiday memories for years to come, or gathering your friends for a reunion you won't forget, this architectural masterpiece will serve as a haven for you all.

Once you have come through the electric gates and down the drive, head in through the front door and into the large kitchen and dining space, holding magnificent views across Lake Windermere, a bespoke handmade kitchen with quartz and granite worktops, equipped with the highest standard of appliances that you could need.

The chefs of the group will love getting creative in this space and you can keep them company and supervise with a glass of wine sat at the breakfast bar.

Move things over to the dining table, all the while watching the sun go down in the background through the floor to ceiling glazed windows, bringing the outside in.

After a day of walking has tired you out, you can look forward to watching a film on the cinema style TV with Sonos sound system in the stylish sitting room, featuring designer sofas in sky blue and beautiful dark wood flooring.

When you want a quiet moment, somewhere to take up a good book or just read the papers in the afternoon, there is the snug which has a leather sofa and a Smart TV.

When you are ready to head to bed, you will have four stunning bedrooms to choose from, all super-king rooms with en-suites; three with views of the lake and one with a view to the garden.

Of these, the master bedroom on the south west corner of the property is really something special, with bi-fold doors that open onto a private balcony wrapping around the corner of the building where you can enjoy an early morning cuppa and watch the world go by.

Bi-fold floor to ceiling patio doors in the kitchen and dining space open onto the patio area where you can enjoy some alfresco dining or indulge in a soak in the hot tub with a cold drink in hand.

Flanked by ancient woodland where the owners have created a haven for wildlife and kept landscaping to a minimum, the garden sweeps down to the lakeshore benefiting from its own private jetty mooring (boats can only be launched from Bowness-on-Windermere, not from the house), and a small beach overlooked by the large covered outdoor dining area.

Bowness-on-Windermere is a pretty Lakeland village with a wealth to explore, you can hire a row boat or take a cruise on one of the steamers to see the shores from the water, while the Windermere Lake Cruises that depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside provide a spectacular way to explore with no need of a car.

The opportunities for walking are endless in this part of the world so whether it's a leisurely amble or a hardcore hike, there is something to suit all abilities.

Lakeside at Louper Weir was built to impress and you will come away from this magnificent property deciding when to book it next.
