  • "On arrival found lodge appeared clean and was tidy, however, as night wore on there was a distinct smell of grease in living area."

On checking oven, found it extremely dirty with shelves covered in grease and two baking trays dirty and covered in grease. Bottom of oven was stained too. We cleaned oven base and oven trays but declined to use oven during stay. Smell lingered throughout stay and used fragranced candles and air fresheners. Had issue with lights / fan in ensuite but call out responded very quickly and bulbs were replaced. One of bulbs blew after continuously flashing by end of holiday so suspect bulbs are not issue but something electrical. A smell in one of the wardrobes meant we could not use it. A teapot would be a useful addition for kitchen We have booked Lake District Lodge Holidays every Oct for past 7 years and this was the first time we have encountered issues. Our usual feedback is normally positive. We will continue using your services for future holidays, however, we will more than likely not return to The Wodge.

Thank you for your feedback. We take all comments on board, and would like to add had we been made aware we would have attended to resolve. We will pass on your feedback to our Housekeeping and Maintenance Teams. Thank you The Lake District Lodge Holidays Owner Relations Team. Property Owner

  • "Perfect lodge with all the mod cons you need, dishwasher, washer/dryer, full size fridge freezer etc, Wi-Fi rubbish but you don’t go to the lakes to sit in your lodge, if need be go to the main reception it’s perfect, I’d book things before you go for that reason or when you’re out and about do it then, the property was used as a vase and it was perfect, good sized bath aswell, very well insulated no need for any heating on at any point would defo recommend, loads to do nearby ( brockhole) 5 min walk which has loads of activities, yes the clubhouse is expensive for food and drinks and the pool is rammed all the time but there’s a big lake and another swimming baths nearby, bus stop right out side the entrance which will take you all around the lakes, perfect stay besides the downpour would defo stay again."

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. The Wi-Fi is complimentary and provided by the park. We hope to welcome you back. The Lake District Lodge Holidays Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "We had a great holiday in this lovely spacious lodge."

Everyone fell in love with the reclining couches !!! The site is very good. You can keep to yourself and enjoyed peace or go to the pub where we were surprised by an amazing singer. Customer service is very important to me on every holiday and we were not let down. We had a problem with our oven and it was dealt with immediately without any fuss. Thank you so much. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

  • "The property seemed generally well maintained and there was plenty of space for us."

There were only 3 of us and a dog so it was fine, but considering it caters for 6 you would have had to share 3 wine glasses between you if it had been 3 couples staying. It was very cosy with lovely reclining sofas and comfortable beds. We chose a lodge with a Smart TV as we thought the weather might be bad and our 5 year old could watch his favourite programmes. The smart tv existed but it was never going to work as there was no Wifi connection to the lodge. Sykes brought us a dongle and to be fair to Sykes they did their best but you can’t make something work that doesn’t exist. Booking activities etc online was very difficult because the wifi was practically non existent on the site and I feel we were misled with this being one of the selling points. Our own mobile data wouldn’t work either because of the location. The owner would have no control over this but it needs pointing out to future visitors. I found out that our stay would have been almost £500 cheaper had we gone the following week, and I now think we have been ripped off because we didn’t get anything extra for the £500, I’m not sure how that price difference can be justified and it leaves us with a negative feeling. The lodge was generally clean but we did find 5 sticky sweet wrappers and broken bits of toys that had been left by previous visitors, however everything else was spotless and it felt clean. The dog bowl was a nice touch and everything was there that you would need, including tea bags and washing up liquid, towels etc. We brought our own but it was nice to know we would have managed if we had forgotten anything. There’s a nice wood for walking the dog on site but nowhere you can have them off the lead. We paid for swimming passes but the pool was fully booked on a number of occasions so be careful if you think you’ll get to swim every day. It’s a great location, close to lots of nice places to visit. The site actually let the lodge down, because if the swimming had been available, the on-site resort staff had been helpful and friendly, the restaurant hadn’t been way overpriced for what you got (most of the menu was out of stock too), and the wifi had been working I would have given a much higher rating. I have no issue with Sykes and would book through them again. Out of school holidays I think this would probably be a lovely place to visit.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that you found the lodge to be cosy and enjoyed the reclining sofas. We were sorry to learn of the issues that you experienced with the TV and the WIFI connection. We were glad to that we were able to attend to try and resolve the issue with the WIFI. However, the WIFI is complimentary and is provided by White Cross Bay, and any issues fall under their responsibility. We will pass on your comments regarding the cleanliness of the lodge to our Housekeeping team to ensure that our high standards are met. Lake District Lodge Holidays is a separate company to the Park at White Cross Bay, but we will pass on your comments regarding the site and the facilities. We hope to welcome you back to the Lake District again. Property Owner
