  • "Lovely cosy and comfortable cottage especially the comfy beds."

If there was any comment about the cottage it would be that i think there should be a small handrail at the bottom of the stairs and a mat in the bath speaking for myself that is as we are in our seventies. there is everything in the cottage you may need,

Thank you for your kind feedback which is much appreciated. I have taken heed of your constructive advice and have taken the necessary steps to rectify. Property Owner

  • "A beautiful cottage, very light and airy."

Room sizes good . The beds very comfortable. Fridge freezer a good size. Lots of carpet area but no hoover only a brush and dustpan. Used the top floor work counter to make some seaglass jewellery and our granddaughter was able to do colouring without fear of making a mess . We found that woodbine cottage is in the best area of allonby, much quieter than the other end were we normally stay. If only we could bring our dog this would be the only cottage in allonby we would ever stay in again. Thank you Carmen, and your art is very good.

Thank you for your feedback and kind words. Glad that your granddaughter was able to create art in comfort. Please thank her for the painted stones she left me. They have pride of place. I have now provided a vacuum cleaner for those that need it in the future. Any suggestions to improve the facilities are always helpful. Property Owner

  • "Lovely well-equipped cottage finished to a high standard."

Beautiful remote location on the coast. Lovely surprise to have the welcome bottle of wine and tea and coffee- very much appreciated after the long drive. Thank you for a lovely base for our few days away.

So happy you enjoyed your stay I really appreciate your feedback and would be delighted, when you revisit the beautiful Solway coast again , you would return to Woodbine Cottage and see us again. You are more than welcome! Property Owner

  • "Very comfortable and warm."

Loved the added touches such as the quirky ornaments and paintings. The location was fantastic too with back door access on to the beach.

So happy you enjoyed your stay. Hope you will return to the beautiful Solway coast again. When you do, you will always be welcome at Woodbine Cottage! Property Owner

  • "A lovely property overall."

We would have maybe have appreciated a toaster for ease at breakfast possibly. The public right of way around the back of the property could make it intrusive when sitting outside during peak times but generally dog owners and walkers were friendly. A great property for peace and quiet.

Thank you for your feedback which is much appreciated. It was a pleasure having such considerate guests as yourselves and I hope you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

Your home away from home

Woodbine Cottage is a lovely beachfront cottage over 200-years-old, lying in the quaint historic fishing village of Allonby, Cumbria, and situated between the coastal towns of Maryport and Silloth-on-Solway.

This end-of-terrace property stands next to the old Quaker Reading House, now a private home, and opposite the Village Hall, which hosts many activities throughout the year.

To its rear lies nothing but the beautiful Solway Firth in all its glory to enjoy!

The cottage has three floors and has been sensitively renovated throughout with all necessary modern conveniences including free WIFI, outdoor aerial for regular TV channels, flat screen TV, washing machine, and bathroom with a combined bath and shower.

The attic space can be used for clothes drying and airing whilst admiring the panoramic view of the Solway and Criffel from the attic window.

The pièce de résistance is, when you step out of the back door, you have direct access to the beautiful Solway beach, an Area of Outstanding National Beauty, where you can spend the day beachcombing, birdwatching, or simply relaxing and taking in the beauty of the Solway Firth and the Scottish hills beyond.

Running alongside the coast is the King Charles III England Coast Path.

There you can take a walk or cycle whilst enjoying the magnificent views.

This coast is famous for its spectacular sunsets, which must be seen to be believed!

These can also be viewed from your windows whilst relaxing inside the charming cottage.

Allonby is a designated AONB and the regional office in Silloth, named Solway Coast National Landscape can give information on the many walks and things to see in the area.

Situated conveniently for day trips to the beautiful Lake District or the historic city of Carlisle, and, not to forget, the famous Hadrian's Wall, begun in AD 122.

The Georgian town of Silloth has a links golf course (listed in the top 100 in the country) and other facilities.

Silloth Green and Sea Wall are there to be admired and enjoyed by visitors of all ages.
