"Home from home."
The cottage had everything. Including a nice bottle of wine on arrival. Ideal location for the lakes and the Yorkshire dales. Nice little village with three pubs

"All good"

"The hygiene in the property was very low with spiders webs and no effort seems to have been made to sweep or dust anywhere."
The beds were made and the kitchen surfaces were clean. The welcome pack was a nice touch.I don't think we will be back although it is in a lovely area
-
"A delightful cottage in superb surroundings, A lovely town Sedbergh with plenty of amenities, The cottage had everything we needed for a lovely holiday, except a sweeping brush."
... Parking can be a problem at times but we managed ok.. Thank you...

"A very nice little spot"

"A lovely house in a wonderful location, with good facilities."
Although very small, our family of 4 were happy for 5 nights. A few things to watch out for: On arrival,m the key safe box was wide open. Not sure if it hadn't been closed properly or if someone had broken into it, but something to be aware of. In you are tall, you'll bang your head on the hanging lights multiples times during your stay. We had to put a chair under the one in the lounge to avoid injury! Spotlights would make much more sense... ah, the spotlights.. maybe not, beware the spotlight in the shower cubicle, it'll give you a really bad burn because they get far too hot (especially if you're balding like me). The heating - ignore the 25 mins max message unless someone has only just left the property, it took 1.5 hours to get the water hot enough to ensure we wouldn't get Legionnaires! After that, an occasional 25mins was fine to top it up. Thankfully we took our own baking tray because those provided were in the oven and clearly hadn't been washed. Unfortunately we didn't take our own bottle opener, and the one provided was broken. We had some inquisitive slugs roam around the kitchen in the evenings, but they were harmlessly returned outside. It happens, our previous home had them too. 9:30 check-out. Come one really? That's far too early, especially with a family of 4 trying to cook/eat/clean-up breakfast. This definitely needs to be increase to at least 10:30, if not 11. Sedburgh is absolutely lovely, just be careful of some of the 'pubs' (restaurants) as they can really burn your wallet. Check out the Waffle Cone and Red Lion (we had to book). Parking wasn't an issue until the night before our departure, and due to the ridiculous departure time all the spaces were still occupied, so we had to lug our stuff up and down the road. Oh, and say hello to the chap next door if you see him about. He's lovely and doesn't bite. All in all, a very pleasant stay, which we might return to in the future.

"Lovely cottage ."
As it’s dog friendly the outside area is not in anyway secure so be aware. If we returned to Sedburgh we would go over the weekend when we arrived we couldn’t eat anywhere with a dog with us ( lots of places closed Mondays or not dog friendly at anytime.)

"Thank you for the stay at your cottage, it was a lovely get away in a pretty area on the country."
When the shower broke towards the end of our stay, it was dealt with on the same day - very impressive. Our doggie was well behaved apart from making use of the fact that the garden was not enclosed and going to meet the neighbours and stealing their cat's food! They were very sweet about it. Our 6' + son bumped his head a few times on ceiling lights and doors, a hazard of a cozy cottage. Ceiling lights might help. We added a cheese grater to the kitchen but it was very well stocked. Thanks again. Sally, Chris and Francis.

"Agreed with some of the other comments, outside area not nice to sit out, next door property's area a mess."
Some pans need replaced as not non stick anymore. It was big enough for 2 and 2 dog's, not for any more. Lovely and warm, used stove a couple of times, even it's oven. Parking no problem. Overall had a pleasant stay.

"What a lovely little cottage, very clean and has everything you need, also in the perfect location too."
The only negative was trying to check out for 9am with two small children was a stressful end to our very pleasant stay! Otherwise it was perfect.
Thank you very much for your lovely feedback . We will take on board your comments about the checkout time. It was made earlier to cope with the issues thrown up by lockdown and we appreciate it needs to be put back to 10 o’clock. Kind Regards Property Owner

"Cooking for a family of 4 with the pots available was difficult."
Better quantity size of pots a must. Bunk beds for teenagers could be on the small size for some. 9am leaving time on final day is a push...10am would be acceptable.
-
"Skye’s service exceptionally greedy company."
Thankfully we didn’t need any heating whilst there but Paid a lot of money and would have expected the heating to work if needed, Reading other comments an on going issue for sometime
-
"A super cottage."
It is well equipped and everything works efficiently. Although of course modernised it retains its character. I would book again.
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you will come again . Property Owner

"Had a great stay"
-
"This was an excellent holiday cottage with a great location which we thoroughly enjoyed."
The walking in the area is excellent and Sedbergh has plenty of dining options plus some useful shops. It was indeed cosy once we got the storage heaters working. If these had been switched on the night before our arrival then would've been a perfect stay.
-
"A beautiful little cottage in the most amazing town!"
Very comfortable, lots of facilities avaliable and the town is a stones throw away with local shops that sell everything you could need. Would 100% stay again.
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope you will come back again . Property Owner

"Fells Cottage was lovely and clean on arrival and we appreciated the Bottle of Wine left for us."
The kitchen was well equipped and it was especially helpful to have instructions left for each appliance. Everywhere looked freshly decorated. We found the living accomodation a bit crampt for 3 adults and a dog but that was our fault as its clearly listed as a smaller property. Parking is available outside the properly but on a few occasions had to park further up the road if we arrived back a bit late. The 1st night we found very cold as it took a while to get the stove to heat up and the only other heating is night storage haters that only come on at 1am and where turned off the night before we arrived. After that it was super cosy. There was a huge supply of walking guides and we really enjoyed a daily morning walk come rain or shine and we certainly had plenty of rain!!!

"The cottage was spotless, well stocked and warm."
The log burner stove was delightful and the cottage decor was tasteful and inviting. The welcoming touches of wine and milk were much appreciated Central and a quick walk to the town with pleasant local walks. The open back gardens/yards on the cottages with no boundary walls may be a small issue for people who like privacy but it wasn't important for our stay as it was winter and we didn't sit outside. We had a lovely stay. Thank you .
-
"Fells cottage , the cottage had everything I needed and was easy to keep clean."
The cottage felt cold on arriving but soon warmed up. Had to park in the car park at down the road
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you found everything you needed. It is possible to park outside but the small carpark provides a good alternative Property Owner
-
"There was no welcome pack for the cottage or the surrounding area like what we have found in previous accommodation apart from notes on board in kitchen."
-
"I feel that the guidance about the availability of parking outside the property was rather misleading."
We were there for five days and were not able to park outside the house at all.
-
"Parking was big issue, as we had to park in same point away from the cottage."
The fridge was not working very well and saucepans was not suitable for cooking as tefal scratched and everything stucked to it. Frying pan on the same level as saucepans. There needs to be some DIY jobs done all over the cottage. Overall it was nice village and lovely walks with walking distance. Great restaurants within minutes.

"We had a lovely stay at Fells Cottage."
A cute cottage that had everything we needed in an idillic setting. Beautiful walks from the doorstep. Glen was very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely stay here again.
-
"Cosy cottage great location for walking the fells and good pubs"
-
"The Cottage itself was fine."
However, the advertised garden, which was a major reason the property was selected, was a building site and unusable.
-
"Cottage generally very good but background heating not acceptable for a winter let."
Took 2-3 days for the rooms to be tolerable. I see this has been a previous comment but nothing seems to have been done.
-
"Cosy house when woodburner on - provided with ample wood for our 3 night stay."
Cottage compact but has everything you need. Village lovely (dog friendly black bull pub a highlight). Would return!
-
"Beautiful cottage, nice and cosy."
Loved everything about it. 3rd time we've stayed in Sedbergh absolutely love it here. 5 stars just one little tiny thing that could be done. The front bedroom(double bedroom) needs a heavier curtain as the street light shines into the room.
-
"The only negative was the temperature within the cottage."
The cottage has night storage heaters which aren’t very efficient or effective. There was some wood for the stove that lasted a few hours and we did take extra, you could also buy a bag of logs in the village but the cottage was still very cold at times. It was a particularly cold weekend and there was a couple of radiators upstairs which were sourced from the stove. I would stay again but will be more prepared next time.

"Nice little cottage comfortable and clean."
Good base to explore the Howgills.
-
"It would have been nice to have a small welcome pack-milk,tea,coffee biscuit, bit overall an enjoyable stay"
-
"Nice cottage in a lovely town, plenty of walks from the door step, did not use the car all week, nice dog friendly pub just down the road."
-
"We've visited this cottage before and have found it comfortable and well provided for."
On this occasion we found it had recently been refurbished so an even more welcoming stay. Thank you.

"Sedbergh is lovely, will definitely return to the area."
Fells cottage is small but full of amenities and spotlessly clean. A great location. Plenty of useful information about cottage, lighting Esse range and locality. Made booking with Booking.com - no key collection information from them but from Sykes Cottages who I didn't book with so they didn't have my email address. Only when I queried the possibility of moving dates did I get key information - on 12.12.18. Pertinent information about key collection could have been more prominent and not buried in a wordy email that included all details, Sykes app download and travel insurance. Didn't have any direct contact with the owner - only via Sykes. Owner kindly agreed to let me move dates (reason for stay was attending a wedding but one relative couldn't go due to having flu) but I decided to stick with my original booking as extra charges to move dates to January 2019 were excessive. Only ended up staying one night (spent other nights visiting ill relative). Arrived around 5.30pm on 13.12.18 and cottage was very cold - storage heaters had expended their heat; thankfully the Esse range was easy to light with enough wood provided for a couple of hours but it did take a while to heat the space, after the doors to kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom were closed. I could have brought wood from home to keep the fire in longer had I known I would have to rely on lighting the stove. Choice of Failed to meet expectations - didn't book with Sykes so I had no expectations of their service
We really appreciate your feedback and we can see that you have spoken to Sykes to have the issues rectified regarding your change of dates, all feedback has been received and were relevant will be taken on board and addressed accordingly. Property Owner

"Cottage was fine but compact even for 2 adults."
Sleeping comfort could be greatly increased with some new pillows and duvet. Small point - no matching glasses or cups.
-
"Clean, comfortable and well equipped."
A great place to stay for visiting the Eastern Lakes as well as the Yorkshire Dales.

This property is ideal for a small family or couple,it's a bit annoying when you can't park near the property-we ended up paying for the car park for the entire stay,
-
"Never used the car all week, plenty of walks from the door ,and the town is lovely"
-
"The only problems we found were the lack of parking outside the cottage - other cars were parked outside our cottage virtually 24 hours a day, but I know Sedbergh very well, and expected to have this problem!"
The other problem was the staircase in the living room where the large sofa is placed - twice my son "cracked his head" on the staircase, and also my brother who visited us for the day! It definitely needs a much smaller sofa in that area!! The kitchen was beautiful.
-
"The cottage is fine and in a great location, close to the town centre and was lovely and clean, Zoe the cleaner did a great job."
We thought that the listing for 4 people is a little misleading as the cottage is very small and doesn’t really have facility for 4 people (there are only 3 seats in the lounge and 3 proper seats around the dinning table). I would also suggest that there is very little storage for 4 people to put clothes in. We have used this cottage before prior to it being with Sykes and don’t think that some of the additions that the new owners have made add anything more. The range cooker in the lounge is too big and a gimmick, my own personal view is I don’t want two pages of instructions of how to light the thing and all the hassle of cleaning it out. There are a few minor niggles that need to be dealt with such as the shower door, and the low light fittings that are a bit of a hazard and the broken door tray in the fridge. The changes to the rear garden area are great, and this makes somewhere nice to sit outside there are new external doors, new wood floors and a dish washer. When booking we where aware that this cottage was fine for two people and that is what we found as there was only two of us staying for the week. The personal touches that the previous owners made such as a bottle of wine on arrival and a small message where gone, this might be something the new owners may look at as it makes you feel welcome and a valued customer and adds a nice personal touch.

"Very comfortable cottage in great location with excellent cafes nearby."
Wonderful walks.

"The cottage was very cosy in the coldest week of the winter!"
We particularly liked the very comfortable bed. Also very pleased that you were able very efficiently to organise our stay for an extra night when weather conditions were bad for the drive home. Many thanks.

About the location
SEDBERGH
Kendal 11.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 11.8 miles, Hawes 15.8 miles.
Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), set at the foot of the dramatic and wild Howgill Fells, is an ancient market town in northern Dentdale. Sedbergh is situated just inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is only 12 miles from the Lake District National Park. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has an olde worlde atmosphere. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
