This was the third year we have been as a group of four couples. Each bedroom has its own bathroom so all have their own privacy. Plenty of seating for a large group to sit and chat in comfort. Time it right and the fields are full of lambs but whatever the season, to sit and forget yourself staring through the large windows at the view in the morning is most relaxing x Thoroughly recommend and will return ourselves too.

Four bedrooms all with high quality en-suites isn’t easy to find. The hot tub was always instantly hot and the large basket of logs ready for the super efficient log burner made everything so relaxing. We appreciated the lovely welcome hamper complete with millionaires shortbread which we enjoyed on glorious walks to Malham Cove and the Tarn and the fresh flowers on the table. Rachael was always on hand for any queries. The perfect way to spend a birthday with friends. The walk from Settle to Stainforth Fosse is also a great walk with salmon leaping in the river at this time of year. The Plough at Wigglesworth and Craven Arms at Giggleswick both very good for food but don’t have the squid at the Plough unbelievably salty.

The owner is close to hand and approachable but you are left in peace. The location is utterly tranquil and ideal spot for walkers, giving a wonderful location to relax after a day out. I would add that you probably need a car; there aren't eateries or pubs within walking distance, but everywhere is within a 5-10 min. drive. We (x4 couples) love the place as all have lovely bedrooms that are ensuite. Few family games and a small pool table for entertainment in the evening, plus enough sofas and chairs for everyone to lounge on. One of our group, when chatting one evening said how usually when he comes to places like this he thinks what he would change (as do I, pretending if I could live there) but couldn't find anything. It is one of the nicest places I have booked for our group.

We were a party of 7 adults, my mother disabled, so the ground floor en-suite was ideal and something we were specifically looking for. It was well supplied with all you could need in the kitchen for cooking a full Christmas dinner (we have found other cottages sometimes don’t provide adequate equipment and serving dishes). The washer and dryer came in very handy for soggy and muddy walking clothes and the hot tub was amazing! The multi fuel stove was a godsend and really kept the communal living spaces toasty. Carne Field Laithe is in a beautiful area of the Dales, perfectly positioned for walks straight from the door and wider explorations. The Lister arms in Malham was recommended in the cottage book and we can thoroughly endorse it too! Thank you for a Christmas to remember!

  • "This property was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay in June which was helped by us experiencing the most glorious hot weather."

The house is beautiful with lovely views across the Yorkshire countryside. The contact with the owner was excellent. She left us a lovely basket of goodies which we enjoyed on our first evening sitting on the terrace. The house is very well equipped with very good quality furniture and furnishings. The kitchen is lovely and has everything you would need if you wanted to cater for yourselves. The bedrooms are lovely, beds very comfortable with lovely cotton sheets etc and nice pillows - all things the can spoil your stay if not done correctly. Bathrooms are beautiful with lovely white fluffy towels. The hot tub was fantastic but we could not use it the first night due to it having to reach the temp following being cleaned. This was fine and we very much enjoyed it on the following nights. I feel loath to mention the few things that could have given this property 10 out of 10 but I think 9 .5 is a great score. Out of the 4 bedrooms only 2 had wardrobes and those wardrobes only had about 5 hangers each. This wasnt too much of a problem as we were 1 extended family together so could move our clothes into the other bedrooms but if you were going with friends this may be an issue - although a minor issue. So take some hangers with you. The internet is excellent and inside the property the service was fast, but no service outside. The main issue was that between our party we can 3 mobile phone service providers and non of them were available in or around the property so if you need to have access to making phone calls you will be disappointed. WhatsApp was still available so we could make some contact with the outside world. As it was this was not too much of a problem because we were 1 extended family so didn't really need to contact anyone. Obviously you are in the very heart of the countryside and for me I was not too worried about this because I am sure you could still have emergency calls. We would definitely go back to this property. We have used Sykes many times, and some properties have not been very good and especially not clean but this was fantastic in every way.

We have stayed in many properties but by general consent this was the best place we had ever stayed in. The facilities are great; en suite in all bedrooms is brilliant. The barn conversion has been done to a very high standard and the layout of kitchen dining area and sitting room all work well with a family group of six. The hot tub was the star attraction for the youngest member of the family and the snooker table was very popular. Worth mentioning also is how well provided the kitchen is with everything you might need. And not just one mug or plate per person but a good number so that we didn’t run out during the day. Not only is the design of the conversion outstanding but the furniture and fittings are very stylish and comfortable. I must also mention the setting. Amazing views from across the fields and hills and where else are you welcomed by a group of young lambs? • "As described the house is set in open country with the only other building you can see being the side of a distant barn."

The building has been it has been thoughtfully and beautifully restored to a very high standard. The accommodation is exactly as described, spacious, beautifully decorated and very well equipped. The welcome basket had some lovely home baked cakes and other local produce. It's possible to do a number of walks from the property but there is easy road access to the wider area. This is an excellent holiday home and we would be happy to go back.

  • "It was a lovely cottage, tranquil and relaxing."

The furnishings were of a very high standard, the welcome pack was fantastic and the hosts were great, even informing us of when a steam train was coming. I could go further describing it but would run out of superlatives. It’s by far the best cottage that we have stayed in, and we’ve been to quite a few.

  • "Crane Field Laithe is a recently completed fabulous barn conversion offering loads of space and high quality fixtures and fittings."

It has everything you could need and more. Every bedroom is en-suite and has a modern smart tv. The beds are very comfortable and the linen is excellent quality. The kitchen diner is superb and has every appliance you could need including a rangemaster dual oven cooker. As well as a large fridge freezer there is even a separate wine cooler - very useful. The welcome gifts were the best we have ever had and the welcome book was excellent. I must add that credit goes to whoever prepared the property as it was spotless. The property is situated on a quiet road leading into Otterburn. It has beautiful views from the lounge area looking over fields full of sheep and cows. We were so lucky to be there to witness the newly born lambs having lots of fun. To sum up is easy. If you book this property you will not be disappointed as it really is delightful.
