"Excellent holiday cottage in a brilliant village will definitely book again"
"Great little place which was very suitable as a base to tour the coast/countryside."
Very well equipped and a nice little touch from the owners of fresh milk and chocolate bars. It appears from feedback that some past visitors have had issues with the church bells ringing/traffic and neighbours but to be honest I did not have any problems. yes, bit of traffic first thing in a morning and teatime but it really was not too bad, it was lovely to hear the church and be part of a village. At night I just put in some earplugs and I could'nt hear anything. The property itself could do with some TLC inside and out...shower is leaking (the flooring is lifting and I could see water coming up in area under the silver radiator) and chip bottom of sliding door which is just hanging on with part of the plastic strip)....also some blown plaster on back of toilet wall.....as you enter the Annexe there's gritty muddy debris which just could do with clearing up and the wooden bench either needs replacing or doing away with.
"The Annex was fully equipped, although there could do with mats for the bedroom and a full length mirror for the bedroom, loads of clothes hangers which is always a bonus."
Milk and choc biscuits were left , which was a nice. The village is lovely, road and church bells are not a problem it add character of the village and lastly there are pubs all doing food which are very good. Antony the owner introduce himself which was nice and he was very helpful.
"A great cosy space for 2 people in a great village."
The owner is always available and very helpful. We have had a short break there and then a long break and found everything we could want for both short or long stays.
"A small but very comfy accommodation for 2 people, this Annexe has everything you may need for a stay, we're here for 2 months this year."
The village is a friendly place with lots of places to eat and drink within walking distance, the bus service is very good a bus every hour in both directions, we use the bus all the time and haven't used our car once even though we have visited all big towns around Lincolnshire. Most importantly the owner lives close by and is very helpful.
"Had a great week will defiantly be back."
"A great holiday and the standards of the cottage are excellent."
"Lovely holiday - myself, wife and dog enjoyed an idyllic stay in the lovely village of Burgh le Marsh."
Cottage was entirely to our taste and very comfortable. All of us very comfortable and happy - sorry to leave
"The cottage had everything in such a small area but was ideal for 2 people."
It was in a very good village which again had everything you might need, the people were all very friendly and the bus service into Skeggy was really good. We are going again in January and are very happy about it. The Church bells do make a noise but you get used to them and they become a welcome clock after a while, the Church looks magnificent at night time, just look out of the bedroom window and it takes your breath away.
"The Annex is small but comfortable, it is very well equipped, with everything you could need in a self catering cottage."
It is in an ideal location for exploring the local area, and is situated in a village with a number of shops and pubs. It is on the main road through the village with the occasional bus or tractor passing, but the village is by passed with most traffic staying on the dual carriage way. The church opposite dose chime every 15 minuets, this didn't bother us, but may be an issue if your'e a light sleeper. There is a laundry room in a separate out building, and it was all spotlessly clean. Our only issue, due to the size of the building, was that the bathroom was quite cramped, and knocking my arm in the night on the bed side shelves. Overall very good value for money. Thank you.
"The Annexe had everything we needed for our stay; comfy and cosy."
The church opposite is beautifully lit up at night; really pretty. The area is reasonably quiet so it was easy to take the dog out for a wee in the evening before bed; no issue not having a garden area. We would definitely stay here again.
"Lovely cottage in a good village people are friendly But the church clock going ..."
Lovely cottage in a good village people are friendly But the church clock going off every 15min no sleep on a night if you are a light sleeper carnt have the windows open because off the clock on a main road so you do get traffic noise just pick it up and move the cottage and put somewhere else and it will be 5 star also we left 2 days early because l have of the lack off sleep ps the bed mattress needs changing
"The Annexe is very small but cleverly laid out to maximise the space."
It is cosy and has its own separate laundry room. The road outside is busy during the day. The church clock opposite chimes every quarter of an hour. We found it very soothing and miss the sound now we are home. Unless you cannot live without Waitrose and wish to spend half your holiday cooking, the shops in Burgh-le-Marsh are quite adequate for the duration. There are plenty of things to do and see in the area.
"It's what we expected brilliant accommodation"
"There is no secure outside area for a dog."
Property on a main road so very noisy with traffic. Mattress needs upgrading, very lumpy and uncomfortable.
"The cottage is in a super location for exploring the area and the village it’s in is lovely."
We found it very pleasant to hear the Church bells from across the road and being next to a main road didn’t disturb us but may do if you’re a very light sleeper. We had our elderly dog with us and I had mistakenly thought the annexe had a private outdoor space. My fault for misreading things. For this reason only we probably wouldn’t rebook whist we still have a dog. The annexe is tiny ( especially with a dog bed on the floor) but we were out all day so it wasn’t a huge issue. Owners very pleasant and helpful. A good find.
"Beautiful little cottage, warm cosy and so well equipped, everything you could need in the kitchen and it's own laundry room."
Well positioned to access the bus services, local shops and pubs. Opposite the church so you will hear the bells chiming but very little traffic evening and night time so a good night sleep
"The cottage was perfect for me."
I was visiting family in Skegness so very convenient. It had everything I needed.
"We were concerned when we arrived at just how small the bungalow was, especially as we were staying for 4 weeks."
We couldn't however have been more wrong. The bungalow was superbly equipped, even a pair of kitchen scales and an electric whisk! It was warm and cosy with a lovely comfy bed. The washing and drying facilities were no bother being located in a different building as so near by. Anthony was very pleasant and I'm sure if there had been any issues he would have been straight on them! It was lovely to find tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits supplied, and there were even 4 toilet rolls and toiletries as well as lots of extras in the kitchen which we just did not expect. The DVDs were a welcome bonus with the weather being so grotty, but when we did go out we found lots of lovely places to visit; the dog loved the beaches! We found people in the village very friendly, and enjoyed the hostelry in the White Hart, as well as enjoying a superb meal in the Windmill Restaurant. The only thing that wasn't supplied was any bakeware, so we just bought a little roasting tin in the pound shop and left it behind for the next occupant! There is really nothing negative to say at all and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. The only thing the bungalow would benefit from would be some draught excluder around the front door as it was a little draughty during the high winds, but that is in no way a complaint!
Only drawback was the church opposite chimmed every quarter of an hour.
"My stay was everything that I wanted excellent Will certainly book again"
"Quite and very peaceful landlord was very trustworthy and friendly also the other residents were extremely friendly all made a very enjoyable stay We will be using the standard of the Annex as a yardstick to compare with the other let's we are going to book through sykescottages."
Co.uk it's going to be an hard act to follow good luck with that Regards two happy holiday maker
"Perfect for my needs."
Solo femLe traveler on business it was perfect. All the facilities you would need whilst working away from home were there in the cottage. Would definitely stay again.
"The Annexe was small but totally fine for two."
The village was lovely and The Bell pub was great, drinks reasonably priced, food delicious and very welcoming,The Fleece on the other hand wasn't,not friendly at all. It's a perfect location for seeing Lincolnshire.
"We had a fantastic holiday in a great location."
The Annexe was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The facililities within was all you could expect. The area was a great location within a small village that had everything, pubs, resturantes, shops, etc. great to get out and explore, Louth, Lincoln, Skegness, etc. We wil be going back next year.
"The annexe was tiny but was next to several flats let out by the same owner."
There was no outside area as such to enjoy the sunshine. The people in the flats made the stay hellish with loud music playing. One woman got very drunk and walked into our property and sat down!!! We had to get our daughter to talk to her on the phone to get her out!!! We are in our 80's and do not need stressful holidays like this. Its greed on behalf of the owner to use this tiny place as a holiday home. Its the wrong place and situated right by the main through road so all you can hear is traffic. Never again. Reading the visitors book was colourful as nobody was happy.
"This is a very small cottage on an extremely busy road."
It only has one bedroom which we understood but it has a small kitchen, very small bathroom and small lounge. It is also next to a very busy road. The church opposite has a clock which chimes every quarter and on the hour continuously through the night. However the village/town is very good, with lots of pubs and food places including plenty of shops and stores which I would recommend . If you have booked this property then be aware that there is only a couple of chairs and a table outside the front door which is not very relaxing. Please remember to take ear plugs to wear during the night if you want to sleep.
"The Annexe itself was left clean for our arrival and the owner is quite approachable if you need to call him for anything."
What we did not know was that within 50 yards of the bedroom window is a church tower clock that chimes loudly on the quarter hours with additional gongs on the hour all day and all night long, this could be disturbing for light sleepers as it was for me, little sleep for two weeks. The Annexe stands on a very busy main road, the living room window is right beside the road and the bedroom window is about 2 yards from it, so there’s constant noisy passing traffic all day, starting around 4.30 am and going on until well after midnight. The Annexe does not have a fenced off area should you be taking a dog with you. The Annexe is the only holiday let situated within a busy courtyard of six or seven other properties. Each property has its own parking space outside the front door as has The Annexe. Should you want to sit outside then you’d be sitting on this courtyard and really it’s more of a car park, what with residents coming and going, their visitors and the noisy main road within yards, we didn’t feel comfortable enough to sit out for the two weeks we were there and it was beautiful weather too. During our two weeks there one household was having what was described as “relationship difficulties” and given that their front door is only about 6 yards from the bedroom windows of The Annexe, their behaviours, language, noise level and intimidation towards us when we asked them to quieten down was not what we had paid the owner for ! This Sykes experience was by far the worst we have ever encountered and we left, after 2 weeks, feeling exhausted and very disappointed.
"The Annexe is very compact and very attractive both inside and out."
Liked the hanging baskets. The interior is tastefully decorated and furnished and very clean. Ideal for a relaxing holiday. Burgh le Marsh is a beautiful town. Food at the local pubs is very good but I thought the Windmill restaurant was outstanding. The locals are very friendly and the food stores good, especially the Co-op which is a biggish supermarket and all the food looked really fresh and inviting. The bathroom is small but someone can manage with it for a week unless heavily pregnant or considers themselves to be very large. The utility room is only a few yards away and is clean and very well equipped. The owner is pleasant and very helpful. To sum up this cottage and the holiday well-exceeded my expectations.
"On my arrival when I opened the door it felt very welcoming."
It was very warm spotlessly clean . There was everything you could need incl tea coffee sugar. There were full instructions of how to use all appliances important information and contact numbers. Beautiful clean bedding plenty of good towels. The owner arrived to welcome me and Introduce himself and make sure I had everything I needed. There was a gift of chocolate on the table for me which I thought very kind. I hope to return again in the future. Thank you
"The owner was very helpful."
"The Annexe was extremely comfortable and clean."
The owner visited us after we had settled in and ensured that if we had any problems to contact him. Burgh Le Marsh is a lovely friendly village. The White Hart, The Fleece and The Bell are excellent places to eat. The Chinese take away is fantastic as is the bakery. With 3 small super markets and a post office you have everything you require. Lovely walks around the village especially if you are a dog owner Skegness is only 4 miles away and further along the coast you will find some lovely beaches. The Antique Centre in the village is an Alladins cave and well worth a visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and hope to return..
"Very comfortable everything needed was there for use location fine for getting about"
"Small but everthing you need."
lovely village friendly people..will most certainly go again..
"The cottage was clean and comfortable, the facilities were extremely good, supplying Tea, Coffee, Sugar, Salt and Pepper, Washing materials, a nice touch with the chocolates, a plentiful supply of pamphlets for activities and places to go and see."
"The annex was a clean and very well maintained cottage"
"The annexe was very well equipped for such a small place I've been to places ..."
The annexe was very well equipped for such a small place I've been to places where there was hardly any cooking utensils it was so cosy there isn't anything that I could find fault with
"The facilities were excellent, very friendly people and lovely and exciting motorcycle roads."
"Small but very clean and comfortable."
There was everything that we needed. Good for trips out. Excellent value for money.
"Small,but all that we needed."
Very clean, everything in there, that you could possibly need. Nice and warm. Our second time in there. And lovely new sofa, much better than last one. Would love to return for third holiday.
"Was a lovely place and location, the only downside for us was the church opposite chiming through the night, We are very light sleepers so got no rest ,which was the point of this short break,so came Home a day early."
"Lovely village ."
The bell hotel and the fleece beautiful food and both dog friendly. As the cottage is dog friendly was disappointed that there is no secure outside space.

About the location
BURGH LE MARSH
Skegness 4 miles.
The pretty town of Burgh le Marsh, surrounded by open farmland, is just four miles from the popular seaside town of Skegness. Burgh le Marsh has varied amenities, with five pubs all serving food, a butcher's, a baker's and a store. There is a lovely historic windmill and an ancient church, perched high on a hill. There is a mixture of old and new buildings, now housing several tea rooms and restaurants. It has a good road network, with very easy access to Louth, Lincoln and the coast. The nearby coastline has long, sandy beaches and sand dunes, a haven for wildlife, including a couple of seal sanctuaries, notably Donna Nook Seal Reserve to the north of Mablethorpe. This is ideal cycling country, with quiet country routes and flat terrain. The town provides a good base for touring this lesser known coastal district of Lincolnshire.
