  • "This was the third time we have stayed at the property as we had really enjoyed the place previously."

However, on this occasion we were very disappointed at the poor level of cleanliness especially in the kitchen. The oven was filthy and covered inside with grease and fat. It clearly hadn't been cleaned. The oven dishes were the same, so bad that I went out and bought my own oven dish to cook a Turkey for the family as I didn't want to use the dirty ones on offer. The saucepans were as bad, two contained pieces of rice which hadn't been cleaned properly. (I am more than happy to provide photos to the owners of the property) The bathrooms were all clean and the bedrooms too except for one of the beds were my wife found a tissue under the duvet cover....... if the level of cleanliness could be brought back to the standard we previously experienced then we would have no criticism. The house is large and spacious with room for our family and it was great to catch up with our elderly parents. Will we stay again? Probably not after this.

  • "The house and garden are really quite beautiful."

Cleanliness was poor, especially in the kitchen and on a minor level in one of the bathrooms. The dining chairs and lounge carpet are heavily marked which makes it feel unhygienic and could easily be changed. Given the house can sleep up to 10 guests, there was a significant lack of oven proof dishes and serving dishes. The chippings laid in the parking area are very deep and made it unsuitable for any guests with mobility issues. That lead to the need to drop people off at the front of the house before moving the car to the back. A more stable surface would be much more suitable.

  • "We had a lovely weekend at the cottage."

It was easy to find and well placed within the town to give easy access to shops, pubs and restaurants. The property was clean, spacious and comfortable with plenty of room for the seven of us. The kitchen is well equipped and there are plenty of bathrooms for guests. Despite being near the centre of town, the house is very quiet at night with very little noise from the pub or pedestrians. It has a lovely garden to the rear which would be safe for children. Parking at the rear is limited and wouldn't suit more than four average size cars. My only gripe was the lack of spare toilet rolls but, given that there are numerous shops close by, it wasn't a problem to get some! I would certainly visit again, and indeed we probably will in the future. Thanks for a lovely stay.

  • "We had a great stay, as a party of 9 (7 adults 2 kids) we had so much space, everything was easy to find, the garden and patio space was lovely, each bedroom was individually decorated and really well done."

We only really used the larger sitting room but other than that everything was utilised. The location is absolutely brilliant, close to supermarkets and you also have the pedestrian town area on your doorstep, so local shops, pubs etc. The instructions for the house, parking etc were all great and easy to follow. I have already recommended to friends and I think as a family we’d love to visit again too! Thank you ☺️

  • "We booked this cottage as my daughter was getting married at Elsham Hall and it couldn’t have been better for her and ourselves to get ready for the big day."

The cottage was gorgeous with everything we could’ve needed and very comfortable. It’s a great location for exploring the town but in a lovely and quiet location. Would highly recommend a stay here and we will definitely be back.

  • "Another lovely stay."

Spacious property with great location to amenities- shops, supermarket, etc. As there were 10 of us, we were a little short on cutlery- particularly forks!! We struggled with the oven as the dials are worn. Towels and bedding were lovely and everywhere was really clean. Showers and baths were super too. We all enjoyed the sweet treats in our rooms too! Thanks for another super stay.

  • "Our whole family went for my sons birthday."

We all loved the cottage. What a fabulous place,it was great to have so many double beds as this is very rare and there was everything we needed. It would have been nice to have a couple of mirrors in the bedrooms that weren't en suite and a hair dryer as I had forgotten mine but apart from that it's a fantastic place to stay. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Lovely garden and location. Fantastic Chinese across the road and supermarkets/shops within a very short walk. Great markets on Thursdays and Saturdays. Would def recommend and stay again.

  • "Curtain rail end which is glass in lounge and dining room fell off, one nearly missing our grandaughter."

Brass kno on back of dining room door fell off as my daughter turned it and landed on her foot. Disappointed with shower on top floor and shared bath on first floor. Went to use BBQ and it was very dirty. Bought throw away ones instead. House itself lovely and quaint. Good size garden and great place for all local shops and supermarkets without using the car.

  • "The house was practically perfect for us (6 adults and 4 children)."

We loved having 2 rooms downstairs so we could use one as a children's play room and one for the adults. The children enjoyed the lawned area of the garden and the Easter bunny hunt in the garden was memorable. It was a lovely treat to find flowers and chocolates in every bedroom too. The folder gave useful advice on the local area and shops as well as how to work the appliances.

  • "Lovely period house, attractively furnished and plenty of space for 10 (NB all beds are doubles)."

Peaceful garden and summer house, although background road noise surprised us with its high level. A great base for walking the footpaths or river and exploring the heritage sites locally. Thursday/Saturday market 100 yards away was worth supporting. A few quibbles: the plumbing is not really adequate for the ensuites - only one tap or shower operates at a time in the house. It was odd not to have a coffee pot/cafetiere (other than a single-cup size) in a large house like this. Bin collection/recycling was only partial and seemed unclear. But a very attractive place to stay.

  • "Really fantastic cottage with all the basic amenities and enough space to easily accommodate large groups without stepping on each other!"

The only problem was the shower water pressure, where in some showers the water would suddenly stop if someone else turned on another shower.

The property

54 Bridge Street is a beautiful late 17th century house is set over three floors and is an absolute gem, set in the market town of Brigg.

Throughout this grand home there is evidence of its great age yet its character perfectly compliments the 21st century elegance and comfort offered throughout.

The house would have been built for a man of substance, possibly a merchant, as trade and commerce expanded greatly during this time increasing England's wealth.

The house offers five sumptuous and elegant bedrooms with their own distinct style, three of which are en-suite and there is an indulgent family bathroom and a ground-floor cloakroom.

Each of the ground floor sitting rooms have the facility for a roaring fire, one of which is housed in an original range which would have been regularly black leaded in its day by the maid!

Nowadays the range provides a comfortable place to curl up in comfort with a good book.

The original windows provide ever changing framed pictures of the charming garden and the historic high street.

For languorous dinner parties the formal dining room opens up to the garden through French windows, just the ticket for after dinner drinks on the patio.

Brigg is a historic market town offering two markets, a farmers and a street market, and provides a fantastic base for exploring the surrounding countryside with opportunities for walking, golf, cycling and rowing, and historic towns and villages to explore.

Give the chef of the group a break from cooking one evening and head out to a local restaurant; Yellowbelly Pizza Co is just across the bridge near the cottage and offers dine-in and takeaway, while The Loft Restaurant offers a traditional menu in a homely setting.

The sandy beach at Cleethorpes and the beautiful city of Lincoln are both just over a 20 mile drive from the house.

Cleethorpes is home to the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway, making for a fun-filled day out with the children, while the city of Lincoln offers an abundance of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés to discover along with its magnificent cathedral.

The verdant and undulating Lincolnshire Wolds provide great opportunities for walking and cycling, with Hall Farm Park resting on the fringes, ideal for another afternoon out with the family.

Railway enthusiasts can enjoy a day at village of Barnetby, known for being a mecca for train-spotters, before heading back to the cottage for some well-earned rest.

54 Bridge Street is a fantastic holiday home and ideal for break away at any time of year.
