“The house is delightful and with a generous utility room and plenty of space for shoes, boots and coats would work well in all weathers.”

Our family loved the snug with ‘massive’ TV, and the garden which is beautiful with stunning views and we enjoyed the ponies looking over the fence. The kitchen is well equipped with an excellent fridge freezer but the two small ovens challenged cooking for a large group. An additional set of keys and/or a key safe would be a good addition. One family had a puncture at Ironbridge and had to wait 4 hours for the AA involving the other family driving a 2 hour round trip to collect the only keys. Also be sure to drive very slowly down the access road there are potholes!

Bicton Lea is a beautifully finished large stone house located near Clun and the beauty of Clun Valley.

The accommodation provides a high-quality location for two families or a large group, a luxurious base for a holiday in the Shropshire Hills.

The ground floor has a large kitchen with breakfast bar, amply sized and fitted out to cater for your full complement of guests.

The dining room stretches into the conservatory and has seating facilities to match your party size.

If seated dining is too formal, there is a separate TV room designed with viewing pleasure in mind with its outsized wall-mounted television and three seater recliner sofa.

The sitting area is large enough for your full group, with two luxurious L-shaped sofas to sit around the woodburner fire and look out at the stunning views.

The beautifully maintained lawns lead you out to a property highlight, a summer house with outdoor hot tub, perfect for relaxing on warm sunny evenings.

Or for those not keen on the bubbles, a large patio picnic table is located outside.

If you can tear yourself away from your luxurious base, two miles away is Clun where you can have a pub meal or picnic near the river and castle ruins before embarking on the Clun Valley Heritage Trail.

There are half a dozen Walkers are Welcome towns in the vicinity, of which Clun is one, but if you fancy heading further afield then the charms of Ludlow are a 20 mile ride away.

About the location

CLUN

Bishop's Castle 6 miles; Ludlow 18 miles.

A.E. Houseman's poem, A Shropshire Lad, defined Clun as 'the quietest place under the sun', and with its dramatic ruin of a Norman castle, Saxon church, the bustling river which flows under the 14th century pack horse bridge, and a country inn, Clun is a rural gem situated in the South Shropshire Hills. It lies on the Shropshire Way in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the border of Wales, an area known as The Marches. This unspoilt part of Britain has an abundance of wildlife and beautiful unhindered walking and cycling routes winding their way through the countryside with the Clun and Kerry Forests, Offa's Dyke, and Kerry Ridgeway all close by. There are a wide range of festivals and shows on offer in the surrounding area throughout the year, including The Green Man festival in May. From Clun, you can also enjoy exploring the historic towns of Bishop's Castle, Presteigne, Ludlow, Shrewsbury, and Hereford, a must for visitors.
