"Lovely house perfect for a large family gathering."
Well equipped kitchen. The owners were extremely helpful supplying us with potatoes when Tesco let us down on the delivery. That was the only issue we had all weekend and would definitely come back
"Fabulous house and its location was amazing."
Can't fault the hot tub whatever the weather. Glorious fire and the owners were so quick delivering more firewood when we needed it. Plenty of room for 6 adults, 3 children and a dog. Lovely treats left by the owners too. My only gripe was that the main bed mattress was rather uncomfortable but I'm probably a bit picky! Would definitely go again. We all had a fabulous time despite all the rain we had.
"Perfect location to get away from it all in a lovely cottage, we will definitely be back"
"Some lovely touches to welcome like flowers, wine & dog treats although we did nt use wine or treats."
Outside cushions were left out and wet so we could nt use. We did try to dry but the were soaked on our arrival. No wardrobe/hanging rail in master b-room. Shower cubical in family bathroom very small and plenty of space to put a larger one in. Appreciate it’s a working farm but the level of flies even though doors were only opened when entering/exiting. Windows were not opened at sll. Door Screens would benefit highly. Unpleasant smell in snug. Could nt watch TV as signal poor. Info was excellent about local area and walks. Overall a good weekend away with joint families, playing games of an evening around the large family kitchen table.
"Amazing place to stay!"
House was spotless when we arrived, lots of instructions on how to use everything, plenty of plates, glasses etc in the kitchen. Very friendly and helpful owners, gorgeous setting, can’t recommend enough!
"Amazing location, a bit more remote than we expected but a beautiful place to spend a quiet week."
The house was very clean and tidy and certainly had some history about it. The kitchen was well equipped and great for socialising and the kids enjoyed the 'snug' for watching films in peace. We didn't light the fire as the property was so warm with the central heating. Everyone slept well, a very quiet place at night. Kids made good use of the hot tub.
"The owners were nice, easy to deal with and helpful when we encountered problems getting there due to snow."
The house was lovely for a weekend away with friends, would recommend
Plenty of room, very well equipped, warm and comfortable. Would definitely stay there again.
"Beautiful farm house, set in stunning countryside, peace and quiet all around."
Very clean, everything we needed in the house and fully equipped kitchen. Lovely relaxing in the hot tub, enjoying the scenary. Warm friendly welcome from the hosts, who were very helpful when we had forgotten to pack a cot sheet, came straight over to give us a spare sheet. Would definitely recommend.
"Lovely clean property."
Lin (the owner) was very friendly and helpful. The views are wonderful - a very peaceful location. Great for walking.
"The cottage is set in a quiet peaceful location."
It is worth remembering you will be a distance from the nearest supermarket so just plan ahead. The farmhouse is very well appointed with lots of room for a large group. The hot tub is a pleasure and is well maintained by the owners. Deer in the lane, rabbits on the drive and loads of bird life make it a great stay for nature lovers. The owners are on hand if needed but are very discreet. They face us excellent advise. Good walking and cycling from the door. Visit the Radnorshire Arms for Sunday lunch. It is amazing. Make sure you book. Overall Maesgwyn is a lovely place to stay.
"Lovely property, well stocked but miles away from anywhere to buy supplies so it had to be ."
One or two issues with broken lights and flies , bulbs out in the lounge and no bulbs to replace. We had a wonderful week , plenty to do and see in the vicinity . Helpful owners . Fabulous hot tub , enjoyed by all of us . We had so much fun and cosy evenings with a great log burner. Thouroughly recommend .
"Fantastic house for a big party set in a truly beautiful area."
Super hosts who were extremely helpful and answered our messages very quickly.
"Fabulous, spacious house in fantastic area with picturesque views."
Farm house was wonderful couldn’t ask for more as were the owners, very friendly and nothing was a problem. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful clean house in gorgeous setting , friendly owners , wonderful secluded area great for walking and very peaceful , was a perfect break away
"We enjoyed a very relaxing holiday at Maesgwyn."
The location is wonderful and being in the middle of nowhere, very quiet. The house was clean and welcoming, especially the flowers, milk, fresh eggs and Prosecco, a nice little touch. Lin and James were very welcoming and quick to help on a problem we had with the heating, which was down to pilot error, not the house. We can highly recommend staying here if you want to get away from it all. We do plan to return sometime in the future.
"The cottage is large and spacious, great for a family meet up."
The hot tub is fantastic and very convenient positioned in a secluded area with views of the mountains and stars. The road to the cottage is a dirt track, be aware if you are driving a sports car or something low to the ground. Also we did not pick up on the fact that there are two other holiday lets next door, the bathroom window faces the hot tub of one of the other lets, make sure you draw the curtains as you can see in. The house is very clean and looks as though it has been recently refurbished. I would recommend this property and would visit again. There are a couple of things that require attention, such as the dish washer needs a service, the wood burner needs a refurb and some new pans would be useful. It would be nice to have a radio or music system in the kitchen too.
Great location. Helpful and friendly owners. We all had a lovley week at a beautiful holiday home. Hot tub just wow.!
"There was nine of us in total, and each one of us said it exceeded our expectations."
The directions and instructions to get access were spot on. The cottage was immaculate, the bed sheets smelled amazing and the owners had left a beautiful hand written welcome note. The facilities were amazing, the fresh flowers, eggs, milk, tea, coffee and prossecco were a much appreciated welcome, and the view was outstanding. We went for a break, and wanted to stay at the cottage to unwind, which is exactly what we did, I can't comment on anything nearby, as we didn't venture out. There is wifi but our ability to access this was limited, perhaps this was due to the weather. On behalf of all in our group, thank you so much.
"Fantastic place to stay - lovely friendly host - couldn't have asked for anything else!"
"Wonderful house, clean and comfortable with everything you need for your stay."
Relaxing hot tub with stunning scenery. Owners friendly and helpful. Thank you
Beautiful house. Felt very at home. Didn't do too much then sit in the hot tub and relax. Wonderful countryside views. Would love to go back :)
"Fantastic cottage, very well presented in a very beautiful location overlooking the valley, the size of the cottage was well suited to our party and the facilities equipped were of very good standard."
The hot tub is a bonus and looks out over the lovely scenery whilst being discrete, The lodge also has good walking routes for able and non able individuals making this a very enjoyable location. the drive to the cottage leaves you in anticipation as you meander down the tight country lanes ( just keep an eye out for the local tractors ) :-) Brilliant holiday and looking forward to booking this again next year
"The lady who owns and rents out the property is summed up in 3 words a maz ing."
She has thought of everything. The house is nipping clean and utterly stunning. The hospitality from the owner is second to none and nice to meet welly boy and lightning her kids. The hot tub is cleaned and prepared daily. The location is all I expected from a remote site like this. Oh and the fresh eggs are delicious. I would recommend to anyone and will return. One point that needs addressing. New frying pans. Kept bursting the delicious eggs
"A beautiful property in a stunning location, just the place to to enjoy a relaxing holiday"
"The cottage is lovely, a good amount of space and beautiful countryside, sheep, rabbits, bats and swallows everywhere!"
There is not much nearby, so best to be organised by either arranging an online shop delivery, or bring your own supplies. We did a lovely walk to Beguildy recommended by the cottage, about 8 miles. The hot tub was great, especially paired with a BBQ on the terrace (don't forget some charcoal!). The beds were comfy and linen all clean and fresh. The main bathroom is huge! There are nice old features such as exposed beams and 2 reception rooms, the main one with a lovely big wood burner. The kitchen is a nice communal space big enough for 10 adults to sit and eat very comfortably. Lin, the host, was very helpful and made the trip seamless, yet left us to it - a perfect weekend, thank you.
"The best thing was to be able to go for walks -from 74 to 2 years old- without taking the car!"
Flowers -including part of the hill in front covered with bluebells- and birds were magnificent. And all -children, grand-children and grand parents- loved the hot tub; so easy to use and with a view. Overall an easy and comfortable holiday accommodation for a cross-generation break.
"The property is a home from home."
When we walked in everything was fresh and clean. The drive from the main road is a country track but hardly any traffic so not a problem. The views are brilliant and it is very tranquil. Easy walks close by for even the laziest of walkers! Plenty of places to visit within a 40 minute drive. We were there with children and grandchildren aged 1 to 12. All enjoyed our visit to the small animal and owl centre, where you can take a picnic or buy food. The gift shop was reasonably priced too. Elan valley was great- the dams spectacular, a variety of walks, activities to try and a great children's play area. Ludlow is also a good town to visit with a castle and market. On the way there is a great cafe and farm shop. You can also find a Tesco and Aldi on this route to top up supplies. I would recommend that you take a couple of days food with you to start off with. If you come from the north the best route is to follow the A483 to Newtown and then the instructions given by Sykes. Lin the owner is more than happy to help in any way and had left eggs, milk, prosecco and flowers to welcome us. We had a lovely time.
"We could tell that the cottage had been lovely and the location was certainly very peaceful."
However, every single dish had to be washed before use as they were covered in grease. We soon found out why; the dishwasher did not clean the dishes even though it was used according to the instructions left. The dishes were washed by hand for the remainder of our holiday. We found that the cottage, although lovely, had lots of general maintenance issues which, while did not ruin the holiday, were unexpected for the price paid. It was really nice of the owner to leave a bottle of prosseco and flowers for us, a really unexpected treat which we appreciated. The hot tub was a big hit also. Unfortunately, I don’t foresee myself or my family returning.
"The house worked extremely well for the 3 generations on the holiday Scenery and location is beautiful although transport is essential to get anywhere as it is rather remote Tesco’s do deliver so that was a + and took any stress out of trying to find a local shop!"
Lots of good dog walks and climbing hills too. Would recommend!
"Lovely cottage although a bit remote, plenty of space for 10 very quiet too"
"Great place we loved it and thank you for the Xmas tree"
!! It was exactly what I had ever hoped for! Absolutely perfect!
"Fabulous house in a beautiful location."
Ideal for family gatherings. Well maintained, very clean and full of character. Thoroughly recommend Maesgwyn!
"The house was/is as beautiful and more as the photos with walks from the door step, truly relaxing."
Over all, everything is was just what was needed for a great, peaceful relaxing week. Thank you so so much. X
"The cottage was beautiful with lovely views."
There was 10 of us and still plenty of space and bathrooms. Hot tub was just perfect. The owners were lovely throughout our holiday. The beds were very comfortable. Plenty of walks and traills. The open fire was a lovely and the snug room was nice which the boys set up the PlayStation to play. Couldn’t fault it at all we all enjoyed it.
"We had a wonderful week."
Friendly helpful owners, comfortable accommodation and marvellous views.
"This was a beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet location!"
Definitely recommend this property! Our party went for a nice relaxing weekend with children (of various ages) plus a dog and we did just that. The hot tub lovely, there variety of board games provided by the owners to suit all ages and the kitchen was perfect for catering such a large group!
"Very quiet location great for a relaxing break."
All of our group loved the cottage. All was clean with good facilities. We would recommend this for a group of friends or family.
"The cottage was beautiful."
I would honestly love to retire here and I'm 33. Lots of lovely walks within a short drive. The dog has never been as settled and we've never been as relaxed.
"A thoroughly enjoyable experience."
The cottage is beautifully isolated and in the midst of magnificent countryside - just what we needed to charge our batteries! Lynn and her husband were charming and couldn't be more helpful. The cottage itself was really cosy and comfortable and our grandchildren in particular loved the snug. The whole place was well equipped and certainly home from home, while the hot tub and log fire were a bonus and much appreciated. Despite its isolation, the cottage made an excellent base to explore mid Wales, Herefordshire and Shropshire and we visited several brilliant castles - all within an hour's travelling distance and well worth the drive. Our only criticisms are that the freezer could be a bit bigger and we feel that a telephone (pay as you go?) is really necessary as we could not get any mobile reception whatsoever, which would have posed a problem if anyone in the party (particularly elderly people) had become ill, since the nearest main town (Knighton) is half an hour's distance from the cottage. Overall, though, we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone - particulary those looking for accommodation for a large party (10 max)
"We had a lovey week here in late July."
Great view of the hills from the property and lovely and quiet. The photos really don't to the property justice. Can highly recommend.
