  • "Super lovely cosy cottage."

Log burner nice and plenty of logs. Kitchen superbly equipped - even able to bake a birthday cake using all their stuff - weighing scales, baking tins etc! Hot tub a luxury - lovely and warm on arrival. Surrounding mid Wales area beautiful. Owner James very friendly and chatty and easily to contact if anything needed. Myself, wife, two kids and dog had the best week. Cheers!

Manual shower handle incredibly stiff. Sink mixer wobbles violently and fridge has all door shelves missing. But it did not spoil our holiday in anyway. Owner lovely and hot tub beautiful.

  • "This place is amazing, surrounded by nothing but countryside."

Everything you would expect from a cottage, with the bonus of a hot tub in the garden.. wonderful after a day exploring! The hamlet consists of 3 other houses, friendly neighbours from a distant! As stated the community shop is around 5miles away, the local pub is now closed (sadly) with the next nearest around 7miles away. If you are looking for something quiet and of grid this is perfect. Dog friendly secure garden. Can’t wait to return!!

  • "A well equipped cottage in a very quiet location, lovely!"

The hot tub was a nice treat. Had lots of chats with the lady at the farmhouse next door, very friendly and we got to bottle feed the lambs every evening. The hen and duck eggs that she sells are delicious. Elan valley is a good day out, beautiful scenery and lunch at Penbont tea rooms on the estate is a must. Also the lake at Llandrindod wells is pretty, you can walk all round it and get a light lunch, cuppa or ice cream at the tea rooms after. We took a drive to Aberystwyth and stopped at Devils bridge on the way again beautiful scenery but be prepared for the 675 steps!! All in all a good weeks holiday and everyone we met was friendly.

Literally just Preachers cottage, a lovely friendly neighbour and gorgeous country sounds, owl hooting cockerel crowing sheep bleating and a very handsome friendly ginger cat.... perrrrfect. The cottage is clean and comfortable just a couple of niggly points (in no way ruined our get away) freezer top drawer broken which I cut my thumb on and the hot water was VERY hot! We replaced the batteries in the fairy lights over the hot tub just because they looked pretty when all working (we throughly relaxed in the hot tub) As stated these little but attention to detail niggles in no way spoilt a much needed get away.... Thank you

The cottage is beautiful and set in a really lovely location. The facilities were great, everything you needed: fully equipped kitchen from saucepans, baking trays, mugs, wine glasses, salt.... Logs, fire matches, papers were all ready for use, the cleaning equipment available too, the hot tub was a very good, perfect final touch to our evenings. The cottage is kids friendly, highchair and stairgates available too. We been greet with very personal touch. The inside and outside were very clean, well organised. The owner was extremely helpful with any question we had and made our stay extremely relaxed. There is a farm next door with all the animals, where we were lucky enough to see lambs being born and spent time feeding the animals with our children. The weekend was perfect not only relaxing but a really great experience. We have already booked this cottage for August this year, we all can not wait to come back and experience all again.

Fresh flowers in the kitchen, beds made up - just lovely. The garden is a little sun trap, with the hot tub as a great addition for the evenings! Just down the lane by the cottage is the most amazing stream, my kids spent hours playing there. The friendly neighbors said we could walk the length of it too! Things to note - lots of flies when we went, cant be helped, but we had to put up fly papers to get them. The shower is great, but almost too powerful for that bathroom, the water kept going everywhere as you couldn't adjust the force. The garden isn't secure for a little dog, big gaps they could squeeze through. The host, James, was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back.

James was a brilliant host, he told us the best places to visit, only a phone call away if we needed anymore logs or information. The hot tub was excellent. The garden is fully enclosed for children and pets and is a little sun trap-we ate outside nearly every morning! All you can hear are the bees, birds and sheep-heaven! There is internet connection but no phone signal which was fine as we have whatsapp. The cottage is quaint and although dark inside, the owner has put plenty of lights in so it wasn't an issue reading etc. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom shower pressure was amazing! The hot tub was wonderful, especially after walking all day. The bathroom could do with a brighter light bulb and the light shade in the main bedroom could do with being flush with the ceiling but they were minor details. The Powys area is beautiful and unspoiled-I can definitely recommend a visit to Elan Valley and to Hafod for walks - our 2 Labradors had a fab time!

Comfortable enough and the owners have maximised the space. Wood burning stove good experience; CH and hot water immediately available. Well lit throughout. Plumbing a minor problem - slow drainage but that's to do with the location and the owner did point it out. Quaint little hamlet with friendly locals - including the inquisitive cat which were warned about. Very relaxing. The hot tub looked inviting. Ideal place to relax for a couple or perhaps a couple with young children. Sky broadband was a bonus - also meant I could use an app for some phone calls - no mobile signal .... but if you went up to the top of the drive it suddenly improved. This was the only issue we had with sykes. The booking process was quick and easy. The cottage was beautiful. Even nicer than the photographs. Every little thing had been thoughtfully considered by the owners and there were sweet little surprises too, such as fresh flowers in every room, toys, books, games, dvds, nuts for toasting on the fire, logs, cider, Welsh cakes and milk on arrival. The locals were really friendly and let us feed the farm animals, walk their beautiful sheep dog and gave us fresh eggs too. The hot tub is not overlooked at all and so lovely to relax in after walking days out. We'd highly recommend a stay in this cosy little cottage. The owners were really friendly and helpful and obviously take a lot of pride in their holiday cottage and making people feel welcome. Dog friendly garden too and swing ball for the kids in the enclosed garden with sun loungers for the adults. Truly ‘off grid’ (on a winding country lane, without wifi or signal) you can leave the world behind you and avoid any distractions. My husband and I spent the week watching films and reading books by the fire in between walking the dogs and relaxing in the hot tub. James and Rachel were excellent hosts and we were especially impressed with how well the hot tub was maintained - it was regularly checked and treated. There are short walks on the door step to walk your dogs and plenty of beautiful places to visit nearby if you feel like venturing out, but equally it’s the perfect place to simply enjoy doing very little - perfectly tranquil and well equipped plus excellent value for money. We generally do a 'Hot Tub' break around January/February time of year, and take the dog too, to get in some nice walks but at the same time relax. It was nice to be 'Off Grid'...there was enough selection of DVDs to watch, if that's what you wanted. It was cosy with the log burner and at £5.00 a bag in the honesty box was a nice touch. There was plenty to do places to visit, but If walking is your thing, then you are spoilt for choice. Star gazing in this area was magnificent so many too see as no light pollution. Book with confidence
If your booking can't take place due to a COVID-19 lockdown in the UK or Ireland, you can request a change of date or receive a full rental charges refund.

Owners may request any evidence that they reasonably require before making a refund. Sykes Holiday Cottages is not agreeing to pay or guarantee any refund from the Owner to you under this Book with confidence.
