  • "Great property, exactly as the pictures show."

Very cosy vibes and great views from the windows. Super cute cows and rabbits everywhere. Really spacious bedroom and bathroom. About a 5 min drive from bala town centre. The mattress was quite hard. Would benefit from a mattress topper. Very enjoyable stay.

  • "We would highly recommend this property, located on a working farm, for anyone visiting North Wales."

The cottage is beautifully decorated throughout with a well-equipped kitchen, very comfortable couch and an extremely comfortable bed. The bedroom has a wonderful view of the distant hills and the sheep paddocks and you can hear the soothing sounds of the farm animals as you are drifting off to sleep. It has one of the most beautiful and spacious bathrooms we have seen, with a separate bath and shower and an abundance of fluffy towels. Our host Aled and his family (and enthusiastic sheep dogs) made us feel like one of the family during the week we stayed there, allowing us unrestricted access to walk across the farmland. We would not hesitate to stay there again and would highly recommend this property to others.

The two comments I'd make is the heating didn't seem to do anything but move between 18c and 20c, no matter what you set it too. Also the bed is very hard and while that might suite some, it didn't us. I guess you can't make everyone happy. All in all however, a very nice cottage and stay. Lovely area and view too. Thank you very much and we will likely be back.

Beautifully clean, So quiet and peaceful. The bedroom and bathroom are fantastic and very well finished, my only small gripe is that the lounge, dining and kitchen area are all in one rather small room (which looks alot bigger in your photos) and the small sofa is guite worn, making it hard to get out of when you're getting on a bit!! Other than that, fantastic!

Bala is also great for further exploring Snowdonia national park. The cottage has very modern appliances while at the same time keeping its cosy atmosphere. Furthermore, the cottage is very well equipped which was very important to us since we liked to cook ourselves. Everything was exceptionally clean. We also met the lovely owners who were very kind to give us advice about hikes to do in the proximity of the cottage. All in all we had an amazing stay and we can absolutely recommend the cottage when visiting Wales.

They provided everything that was stated and more. We took things that we have needed in the past, such as - foil, toilet rolls, cooking oil. If provided we have always needed more than was supplied, NOT WITH THIS RENTER. My wife would have liked me to bring the bath home with us, I just could not get it in our Yaris, the most comfortable bath she had ever bathed in! AND not only a bath but an excellent separate shower.

The cottage itself was very cosy and ideal as a base to explore the area, and a drawer full of ideas as to what to do if you get stuck! Despite being seemingly in the middle of no-where we got to the main road in no time at all. We had a great day out going around Lake Vyrnwy with a walk around an amazing waterfall and a drive around the lake, and also a visit to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. The whole property is very modern and the kitchen has everything you need, the bathroom has a nice big bath and shower and the bedroom was a decent size with lots of space with drawers and a wardrobe and more than enough soft towels provided! We only needed to consider getting some food in and we were set for out stay! We got a warm welcome from the dogs who made sure we knew which way to head when we got there (and also came to make sure we were OK when we got home after our day out!). Would thoroughly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing break away.

Property was well equipped and very clean. The main living lounge / kitchen area was a little smaller than we initially thought from the photos (and not the best set up with the table in front of the sofa, so one could not see the TV), but we quickly adjusted to it and found the property very cosy. A vacuum cleaner would have been useful to help hoover and keep the place clean throughout the week - we used the dustpan and brush, but it was not as effective. Will visit property again. Thank you to the owners for making the place extra special and cosy for us - homemade mince pies were awaiting us upon arrival and a decorated Christmas Tree to make the place Christmassy for our festive stay. :)

The property

A wonderful cottage attached to the owner’s own Grade II listed farmhouse, which dates back to the 16th century, situated on their working sheep and beef farm, in the pretty rural hamlet of Rhos-y-Gwaliau, just two miles from the popular market town of Bala.

Excellently-placed for touring the stunning Snowdonia National Park, this lovely cottage is perfect for a couple who wish to experience authentic country life at a true rural retreat.

The property has been completely renovated to a beautiful standard, providing contemporary accommodation, whilst still retaining plenty of wonderful character features, such as sash windows, exposed stone lintels and deep sills.

This pretty cottage exudes a warm Welsh welcome, and the well-equipped open plan living area boasts a modern kitchen, an intimate dining area and sitting area with a comfy sofa and underfloor heating, ensuring a cosy temperature is maintained.

Upstairs the spacious double bedroom offers oak furniture and splendid views of the countryside, whilst the beautifully-styled bathroom is complemented by nice little touches such as spotlighting, a double shower and a separate double-ended bath, perfect for a pampering soak at the end of a busy day exploring.

Outside, the off road parking area is covered with crushed purple slate, which leads round to the rear of the cottage, creating a raised courtyard area with furniture, a lovely little hideaway, ideal for a morning cup of coffee or a glass of fizz in the evening – just throw a few logs onto the firepit and swap stories long into the night.

There are numerous walks from the doorstep, as well as several outdoor activity centres within easy reach, including the renowned National White Water Centre, offering sailing, windsurfing and kayaking.

Visit Bala and sample the fine selection of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, and there’s also a golf course to practice your swing and mountain bike trails for keen cyclists in your party.

Alternatively, for a more leisurely pastime, take a trip on the Bala Lake Steam Railway, or spend a day exploring Barmouth or Harlech, both with superb sandy beaches.

Further afield great days out can be had at Llangollen and Chirk Castles, whilst the breathtakingly-beautiful Lake Vyrnwy is also well worth a visit.

This delightful cottage is an ideal retreat to be enjoyed all year round, equally perfect for an exciting holiday or relaxing romantic getaway.
