  • "Lovingly restored farmhouse in the Dysynni Valley."

Lots of hardwork obviously went into making Peniarth Ganol the fabulous property it is today. The views to 'Bird Rock' are amazing and captured to their fullness from the lounge and patio. Lovely, although steep walking path to the rear of the house with panoramic vistas to the coast in the distance. Beautiful rooms with everything to need for a perfect holiday. The lambs bleeting and skipping around outside completed the experience. One minor issue and as mentioned previously by others, the farmer sometimes closes the gate (which you have to drive through to reach the property) and does not reopen the gate, so you have to get out of your vehicle to reopen it. The ground is often 'mucky'!

Thank you so much for this really nice review. We are genuinely delighted that you had a good stay at Peniarth Ganol and that you enjoyed it as much as we do. We do gently remind Trefor, the farmer, to leave the gate open as much as we feel we can, but he is always busy and he has a lot of other things to think about. The cows are out in the fields for the summer months, but during the winter we find it helpful for one of us to have a pair of crocs or wellies in the car to put on when opening the gate. • "This place is amazing, the property is beautiful and set in an even more beautiful location."

The shower is to die for! The farmer who opens and closes the gate (in the description for the property) is a really lovely man. Enjoyed every minute of this holiday. If you like quiet and not being around people at all this is the perfect location. Love it and will definitely be going back

Thank you so much for this lovely feedback. And thank you very much indeed for your kind words about Trefor, the farmer. He is a real gentleman, as you say. You will be welcome back at Peniarth Ganol whenever you choose to return! Property Owner

  • "A truly gorgeous spacious cottage renovated to a high standard with spectacular views over the mountains, we loved watching the lambs run and skip around the fields that surround the cottage."

Lucky for us the sun shone for the first half of our holiday and dry for all but the last day you will definitely need wellies to open the gate to the farm yard if it rains. We all loved the cottage and our 2 dogs had a wonderful time.

Thank you ever so much for this lovely review. We are so pleased that you had a good week at Peniarth Ganol. Property Owner

One the best we've ever stayed at. As ex-farmers it was enhanced by the farm yard sounds and smells.

  • "Ideal location with a stunning all round view."

Great facilities and well maintained house. Few things: Very difficult to find in the dark. Need lights at the entrance by the gate. Very dirty by the gate. Not ideal to step into the cows mess to ooen the gate. This is the draw back and for this reason I have selected the sad face for the listing and 3 for recommendations. Although there were 2 bathrooms, we could only use the downstairs one as the shower in the first floor did not have a shower holder.

Thank you so much for your honest feedback. Your suggestions are really helpful to us. We will move the light at the gate closer to the drive and ask the farmer again to keep the gate open. The cows are out in the fields for most of the year. The shower attachment is intended for use in the bath, but we will look to how we can convert it into a standing shower. Property Owner

  • "Penarth Ganol is a wonderful house: a sensitive restoration of a farmhouse located in a beautiful, peaceful valley."

Every thought has been given to the needs of visitors, from the well-equipped kitchen to the comfort of the sofas arranged around the magnificent log burner. Nearly every window gives panoramas over the imposing hills of Snowdonia, with direct access to walks, both challenging and easy. The Cader Idris visitor centre and the start of the Minnfordd path to its summit are about twenty minutes drive away, and the charming market town of Dolgellau is a little further. A holiday house to visit again and again.

What a lovely review! Thank you ever so much. Property Owner

Look out off one window to sheep and the other to cows, all sat amongst the rolling hills! Perfect base to visit all the coastal towns. The grounds are all flat so perfect for the little one as well. Would return in a heartbeat!

The location is breathtaking, surrounded by fields of cows and sheep and mountains all around you. All this and only a 15 minute drive to amazing beaches. The cottage is kitted out thoughtfully with simple, good quality fittings. You really need to bring nothing other than your food and drink to this one. We had an amazing week of sunshine every day, eating outside every night. We will defiantly come back if we can. Thanks you

  • "A beautiful setting to be enjoyed by our family, everything was catered for, and we were very comfortable."

The beds especially gave us all a great nights sleep, and our little boy loved the cot provided. Minor points were with the hot weather there were flys so fly spray or a swatter would be handy in the cleaning cupboard (but understand not everyone would want to use these). Also, as mentioned above the beds were extremely comfortable but we did find ourselves banging our legs on the wood sticking out around the edges… not much that can be done but wondered if the double room it could be turned around to help stop that? Regardless, it’s definitely a lovely home and we enjoyed it thoroughly:) if we’re in the area again we’ll definitely keep it in mind.

Thank you for your very supportive review. We will be acting on your helpful suggestions! Best wishes. Property Owner

  • "Unbelievable."

Just book it and see. The journey to the property was amazing, the location is very off the grid and secluded, others who live close are still at a distance. Shops and amenities are within 20 minutes drive. Beautiful beaches, waterfalls, lochs all within 15 minutes drive. The property has everything you need for cooking, cleaning and enjoying your stay, games to play as well. The waterfall shower is so nice, you’ll be showering twice a day. Overly spacious for a family of 5 and 2 big dogs. Enclosed garden keeps the dogs safe, they’ll never get board in the garden. Walking routes straight from your front door. Return trip already booked, will definitely be making this a yearly trip. Thank you to the owners.

Perfectly positioned. We were most comfortable and will most definitely return. We are so grateful to be able to bring our dogs. We brought our own rope and tether (although I found one provided) Boundaries although fenced and gated would not keep little dogs from exploring! Sheep and lambs right next door to the property. House well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Thank you.

Peniarth Ganol is probably our favourite in all that time. Seclusion coupled with luxury and comfort. Lovely walks right from the door, We we’re so lucky to have an Indian Summer, so breakfast and drinks could be had outdoors on one of the 4 seating areas. We will definitely be back to try a different time of year.

If you are looking for a remote, beautiful holiday home with everything you might need or want then this is your place. The property has been lovingly renovated by the owners with views to die for. The kitchen is well stocked with crockery and cutlery. The 2 bathrooms are spacious and the shower is devine with loads of hot water. The house is so well made that the bedrooms are so quiet you can hardly hear other people moving around the house, and the beds are super comfy. We had a baby with us and there was a travel cot and highchair available. There is lots to do in the area with a short drive to beaches, we did pottery painting at Corris craft centre which was nice, but also lots of walks from the cottage door. A wander up bird rock opposite gives stunning views! I'm sure we will be back, I would like to go in winter to make the most of the underfloor heating and cosy log fire!

This is such a joy to read! Thank you so much. It’s interesting that you pick up on the quietness between the bedrooms. When we were renovating the house we doubled up on the sound insulation between all of the rooms in order to provide that sense of peace and calm. It makes a difference, doesn’t it? Do come back in winter. As well as the toasty heating, you can also be surprised by some winter sunshine as well. Property Owner

  • "This is a beautifully renovated farmhouse in a fantastic location."

You have the peacefulness of being in the countryside but only a 15 minute drive to the beach. It really was a home-from-home and had so many nice touches and facilities (my only minor gripe is that it’s been overlooked about having a mirror near a plug socket so drying your hair is a challenge as there are only mirrors currently in the bathrooms, but that is only a minor thing in the scale of things as they’d thought of everything else). It was spotlessly clean everywhere and the beds were really comfy. You have the choice of a lovely roll-top bath in the upstairs bathroom or an amazing waterfall shower in the downstairs one. Although it worked out quite expensive for us as a family of 4, if you had two families stay, with the maximum capacity of 8 people, then it is definitely value for money and we’d love to come back and stay again

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and helpful review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your holiday in Peniarth Ganol. Since reading your review we have provided nice oak dressing table mirrors in each of the bedrooms. Property Owner

The property

Tywyn 4 miles, Aberdovey 8 miles.

Peniarth Ganol is a beautifully renovated farmhouse set close to a working farm, hidden within the magnificent Snowdonia National Park near the village of Llanegryn.

A rural pet-friendly cottage boasting superb views of Craig yr Deryn and the Dysynni Valley, this spacious dwelling is the perfect base for large families or friends of eight eager to explore the North Wales countryside.

As you make your way through the farmyard and pull up to the property, be sure to appreciate the character and charm of the stone-fronted walls and breath-taking surroundings.

Grab your bags and head into the warmth of the utility room where you will find a shoe rack, washing machine and a traditional drying rack, great for kicking off your mud-splattered boots after a long country walk and throwing your dirty clothes in the washing machine before you enjoy a lovely warm shower in the nearby contemporary shower room.

Once you're feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, make your way through to the traditional cottage kitchen with attractive oak worktops, striking original stone fireplace and a wide selection of appliances for you to use as you prepare a hearty lunch for the whole group.

Serve up at the dining table as you discuss your plans for the evening and look forward to the many more action-packed days planned for the remainder of the holiday.

Place the dishes in the dishwasher and clear the table before getting the fire going by placing a log on the woodburning stove whilst the others gather on the sofas to select a blockbuster movie for all to enjoy, from Netflix on the Smart TV.

Later in the evening grab a board game from the many available and delight in some friendly competition around the dining table.

Tuck the children up in the bunk bedroom and send them off to sleep with their favourite bedtime story before heading back downstairs and cracking open a bottle of wine.

As the entertaining evening draws to a close, pick yourself up and carry yourself off to bed; there are three further bedrooms to choose from including a roomy king-size, a delightful double and a twin bedroom, all finished with charming oak furniture and crisp white bedding.

Indulge in a morning soak in the beautiful roll top bath with claw feet that can be found in the first-floor bathroom, complete with an overhead shower, hand basin and WC.

Play with the kids on the lawn on a warm summer's day whilst the chef of the group prepares a picnic, so you can bask in the sunshine as you dine alfresco.

Perfectly located in the Dysynni Valley and a short drive to the start of the walk up Cadair Idris, these two popular locations are great for starting a family ramble.

Start your day outdoors with a hike up Craig Yr Deryn and embrace the magnificent landscapes before descending back to the property and heading to the historical Castell y Bere.

In Tywyn why not visit the small Talyllyn Railway, perfect for some steam train spotting or hop on the train at Fairbourne Railway for a scenic journey with picturesque views.

Take the Barmouth Ferry over to Barmouth Harbour for a stroll along the beach before hitting up the local shops for a souvenir to remind you of your holiday and dining in one of the local cafes.

Visit the popular seaside town of Aberdovey, a small village on the side of the River Dyfi in Gwynedd, a perfect spot for weekend coastal walks.

Whether you're exploring the Slate Caverns in Harlech or learning to surf in Snowdonia, make your next holiday a memorable one at Peniarth Ganol.
