  • "Angus and Judy provided an exceptional stay at Drumhead Bothy for me."

They were very caring and attentive, helping me find matches, offering more firewood, and putting fresh milk, butter, orange juice and wine in the fridge for my arrival. It was a very warm and cosy stay. Everything was clean and tidy, and I had a great night's sleep, as well as enjoying the rainfall shower. The birds outside were alive with song and it was a truly very peaceful place to be. Thank you so much for being such lovely hosts. I will be sure to recommend your bothy to anyone wishing to explore the Cairngorms or find a peaceful retreat.

Angus and Judy were the perfect hosts and have created a wonderful holiday home equipped with everything you could possibly need and more. There were so many thoughtful touches which made our stay extra special. There was so much bird activity in the garden and we spent hours watching them from the window, we even saw waxwings. Highly recommend going outside on a clear night to look at the stars, they were amazing and we saw lots of shooting stars. The surrounding area is incredible and we had so many fabulous days out and didn’t want our holiday to end. We will miss this place and it will hold a dear place in our hearts, thank you so much to Angus and Judy ♥️

Cottage so cosy and warm we did not need to light the fire even in November. Equipped with everything you could need and more, such a cosy place. Gardens are beautiful and it was a real treat to watch the woodpecker each day. Judy and Angus were wonderful hosts and even brought round a beautiful cake and card for my parents wedding anniversary. Before we left we were offered fruit from the orchard to take home. Fab farm shop a short walk up the road for milk and bead to save driving to Aboyne or Banchory or for brunch. We are looking forward to returning soon x

So many thanks for your feedback and comment about being one of your best holiday home visits. Re the 88/100 score the following two issues were raised : 1. Accuracy of the listing was raised in feedback- it would appear that information on the Sykes website is either incorrect or confusing - this should be raised with us and Sykes to correct if required. 2. Re comfort- this obviously fed into your overall score— In your very kind thank you card when you left you said how very comfortable the Bothy was . With Ballater, Aboyne, and Banchory all within a 20-30 minute drive, you're spoiled for choice for places to go visit and jumping off points for incredible walks in and around the Cairngorms. Angus and Judy are lovely too - they're very close by and more than happy to help in any way they can. Just stepping out of the car the owners were so welcoming (& understanding of my previous cancellation / postponement). Throughout my weeks stay they were always considerate & sociable, imparting local knowledge that was greatly appreciated. The bothy itself is impeccably fitted out, the kitchen in particular is suitable for anything form a quick bite to a full roast! The view from the dining table over the hills is just a perfect start to the day - either soaking in the sun or watching the clouds rolling over the hills (neither disappoints, and changes minute by minute). And the waterfall shower is an ideal end to to a days walking round the Finzean estate and beyond. And as for sleep.... wow! A really comfortable bed & countryside peace makes a perfect combination. There is a lack of mobile signal in the area for some networks. But that's not necessarily a negative! Wi-Fi always available in the property. Thank you Angus & Judy, already looking at a return in 2024

They are excellent hosts and nothing is of any trouble for them, they make you feel extremely welcome and just want to make sure that you have an awesome time. There is a lovely secure garden which our pup enjoyed but be aware there is an indented pond.
