“This is a lovely place, really modern and nicely decorated.”

Everything was really clean and tidy and whilst it was compact it was light and airy due to the patio doors letting in loads of light. Everything you could want for a weeks stay was provided, along with milk. tea. coffee and a lovely packet of local shortbread. The owners were not there when we arrived and I eventually got instructions to use the key out of the "lockbox", the owners it transpired were away themselves and arrived home a few days later, they made us aware of their presence but ...

Everything was really clean and tidy and whilst it was compact it was light and airy due to the patio doors letting in loads of light. Everything you could want for a weeks stay was provided, along with milk. tea. coffee and a lovely packet of local shortbread. The owners were not there when we arrived and I eventually got instructions to use the key out of the "lockbox", the owners it transpired were away themselves and arrived home a few days later, they made us aware of their presence but left us alone and were not intrusive whatsoever. I had read a review that said someone didn't like being "on show" and I can see why that would be as this property is at the entrance to a caravan park and there were lots of people walking past due to taking their dogs a walk from the site and there are two big patio doors on the front of the property, however, we did get over this by parking our (large) car across the front of the property which meant that we still got the light but not the people staring, I consider this was an easy option so not something that would put us off staying here again. If I had one problem it was that the beds were rather flimsy, ok for someone who is slight and under average weight but unfortunately we are not and we were concerned enough about this that we "made alternative" arrangements for sleeping in the property. That said, I would not hesitate to return to the property in the future.

Aberlour 1.2 miles.

In a quiet and pretty residential location on the outskirts of Aberlour, this extremely well-presented semi-detached cottage makes a fabulous holiday retreat.

Next door to the owner's home and yet totally private and self-contained, this cottage would be ideal for a couple or small group of friends who want to enjoy this wonderful area together.

Fresh and tastefully presented the main living area is a perfect place to relax and enjoy home-cooked meals at the end of a busy day and the comfortable bedroom and contemporary shower room are immaculate.

The large leather settee in the sitting area can be utilized to sleep up to two adults if so required allowing for some flexibility.

From the sitting room doors open out onto a patio area complete with picnic bench and guests can certainly enjoy some outside dining on the warmer days.

Aberlour itself is a pretty village with a broad High Street providing a great selection of shops and cafes and the local fish and chip shop comes highly recommended!

Fishing is available, as you would expect, on the River Spey and permits are available locally.

For golfers there are several top quality courses within an easy drive and nearby Dufftown has a challenging hilly 18 hole course.

For cyclists the Moray Monster Trails provide 18 miles of single track mountain bike routes for all levels, and for walkers there is of course the wonderful Speyside Way.

Wildlife is easy to spot in this unspoilt area of Scotland with around 60 species of birds along with wild cats, pine martens and much much more.

You can always just pop in your car and drive through the pretty quiet roads, stopping at the many craft cafes and distilleries along the way.

A truly magical location and a cosy and smart holiday home to enjoy.

About the location

ABERLOUR

Elgin 15 miles.

The small, pretty village of Aberlour lies on the banks of the River Spey, and is surrounded by wonderful open countryside, with the Cairngorm Mountains on one side and the Moray Firth coast on the other. Noted for its presence on the Whisky Trail and for Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival visitors will be stunned to realise that there are 50 whisky distilleries within a 15 mile radius of the town. Many of these distilleries are well worth a visit as they have excellent visitor centres with plenty of tasting on offer. The area is a magnet for fishermen with the River Spey so close by, whilst walkers will certainly appreciate the fabulous walks and wildlife they will encounter en route through the Speyside Way, one of the four official Long Distance Routes in Scotland. Aberlour is a great base for exploring this region of Scotland.
