"Lovely property and well equipped."
Ideally situated and enjoyed our quiet time away. We did mention that the window in the smaller double room doesn't close properly and was very windy one night.
-
"Very comfortable, spacious, and super clean property."
Extremely well equipped. Close to the harbour for walks in the evening. Findochty itself is a lovely location. Thoroughly enjoyed our week.

"Cottage description states two bathrooms in fact one bathroom and one toilet ..."
Cottage description states two bathrooms in fact one bathroom and one toilet with no whb Also states open fire with all fuel no fire Cutlery was miss matched and very poor quality seating very old and uncomfortable on the plus side the bed was comfortable would we stay here again No

"It was very comfortable and very specious, we really enjoyed our stay."
-
"Although the accommodation was very spacious and catered for our needs it was crying out for refurbishment, it was like going back to the 70s and the settees are not very comfortable."
We were quite concerned about the local children's behaviour to holiday makers. For the money we have stayed in far more luxurious and comfortable homes.
-
"The recycling bin was full to the gunnels on our arrival."
Whilst clean and comfortable the furnishings and decor were a little dated and tired.
-
"The furniture downstairs is of very poor standard and very uncomfortable."
The settees were so low, soft and old and also had stains on them, the kitchen table and chairs were cheap, rickety and just poor quality. The dining room furniture also was lacking. Carpets were old and the house had a very odd smell. There was no clothes horse. Such a shame as Findochty was a lovely place. The house just needs updating. For the price of over £1000/week it was so disappointing we cut holiday short.

"We were very impressed by the cleanliness of the cottage and it contained everything we needed for a comfortable stay."
-
"Lovely and clean good area plenty to do"
-
"One of the best self-catering places we have stayed in."
Good location, sun-trap little courtyard, had everything we needed, very spacious. Much enjoyed our stay, would book Holly Hoose again.

"This is the 5th or 6th time we have used Sykes and 4th time at this property."

-
"We enjoyed our stay at Holly Hoose ."
Accommodation although dated was clean and comfortable with plenty of space . The outside patio area was a real suntrap which we enjoyed several times.

-
"Very lovely and cosy cottage."
We had a fantastic Christmas at Holly Hoose. We would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in this part of the world. Great walks up to the golf course with amazing views. Fantastic pub down the road with amazing food and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a great space to relax.

"This was our 4th year at Holly Hoose."
Need I say more? Huge house, everything you could need and the comfiest bed I have ever slept in. Great for visiting the area with loads of restaurants and little cafes in towns roundabout
-
"Fantastic holiday home in a wonderful friendly village."
Perfect location for touring the Moray Firth.
-
"This is a lovely, cosy and big cottage in a very quiet fishing village."
It has a small shop and pharmacy that close quite early, as well as a nice dog friendly pub but nothing much else. The beach is sand and stone and has some great rockpools. The house is lovely, decoration is a little dated but everything is so comfy and cosy that you don't mind. It has good wifi but phone signal is hit and miss.
-
"The house is very comfortable and welcoming."
We had a lovely week here and loved the peace and quiet. The walks and beaches are beautiful.
-

"Excellent cottage well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds"
-
"Well appointed and very comfortable house, lots of space and good sized bedrooms and reception rooms."
Lovely location and only minutes from harbour, pub and beach and cliff walks
-
"Lovely and warm house , good shower, could do with new pans, and cutlery as they bent when eating, but other than that we enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back, we didn't light fire but."
There was coal and logs in shed, five mins from pub and beach, plenty of walks for Toby our black lab.
-
"This is the second time we have stayed in this property and we will be back next year."
It is an excellent base for exploring and the house really suits us with our 2 golden retrievers. We have used Sykes several times and have found them to be a good company to deal with. Plus they have a large selection of properties.

"House nice and clean and comfortable, well equipped but needs a little updating."
A welcome pack would be nice. We’ve spent nearly £700 on a weeks accommodation before and had a nice pack with local produce such as milk, eggs, bread, jam. This encourages visitors to shop locally having tried the products, and also if you’ve had an 8 hour drive, arrived late and been unable to bring cold milk a cuppa makes everything right!
-
"Holly Hoose was a lovely house with everything you could need and was an excellent place to stay while exploring this fantastic corner of Scotland."
We had a great relaxing time .
-
"Just brilliant highly recommend"
-
"An accurate contact name and number would have been useful as the key holder/caretaker had been changed 2 weeks prior to our holiday."
A welcome pack ie milk tea and coffee would have been nice after a 7-8 hour drive. Decent furniture to sit outside as it was broken in places and wobbly. Otherwise the house was lovely. The area is very quiet and if children visiting not a lot for them to do in Findochty as it literally is a fishing village.
-
"Very comfortable, warm accommodation, well equipped."
Well placed to explore the Moray coast. You can walk the Moray coastal trail in two directions, directly from the house. Local shop and pub only 5 minutes walk from the house. Would certainly recommend .
-
"Lovely house and village."
So quiet and peaceful. Fantastic week.
-
"Lovely holiday cottage, spacious - ample room for 5 adults."
Comfortable and tidy. Beautiful area . Quiet, wonderful beaches. Will definitely return.
-
"Excellent value for money Very clean and spacious with all internal amenities catered for except the open fires which are no longer in use which is a shame Nice and warm cottage which was perfectly located fo us."
Village very quiet but no issue to us Great week....thank you!
-
"Wonderful place, locals so friendly and welcoming."
Admiral pub great for a meal or just to pop in for a drink. Would love to go again sometime in the future.
-
"Holly Hoose is a lovely, clean, traditional cottage with excellent facilities."
Findochty is a beautiful wee village with a very friendly atmosphere. I would recommend both.
-
"A lovely holiday home with all needs catered for in a great location."
-
"A comfortable, enjoyable holiday, central location, would definitely visit again and continue to use Sykes cottages."
-
"Peace and quiet ."
. a beautiful place to relax . and the weather was brilliant
-
"Fabulous clean house in a very friendly and pretty town."
Highly recommend this property and the location. Great for those who have dogs and love long walks along quiet beaches. Local pub serves great food and is extremely welcoming. Eveyone must visit Finechty at least once in their life!
-
"The house was better than expected"
-
"The only reason I wouldn't book this cottage again is that it is so far for us to travel."
The location is stunning and everybody is really friendly. However there are really very few places you can go in if you have dogs. There is only one pub in Findochty which only allows dogs in the public bar not the lounge where the large dining area is so if you want to eat there you either have to sit outside which is fine if the weather is good or they have one small table in the bar which is also quite a small space dominated by a pool table, the views from the outside seating are amazing though. The most dog friendly place we found locally was Portsoy where there is a small cafe where dogs are allowed both inside and outside., and in the marble shop in the 17th century harbour.

About the location
FINDOCHTY
Buckie 3 miles; Elgin 20 miles.
The delightful fishing village of Findochty, which dates back to the 1400s, sits on the edge of the natural harbour known as Crooked Haven. Nowadays, Findochty is used more by leisure sailors than fishermen, whilst the fishing boats have moved down the coast to Buckie. Findochty has a small sheltered beach at Long Head and a popular pub on the harbour front. Why not visit the delightful town of Cullen, situated beneath spectacular railway viaducts and renowned for its hearty smoked haddock and potato soup, or enjoy a spot of golf at either of the Cullen or Strathlene golf courses? Take a pleasant drive to the lively town of Elgin, home to an imposing cathedral, museums and the mesmerising Biblical Gardens. With the whole of the Moray Coast to explore, with its Whisky Trail, an abundance of historic houses and gardens, sparkling golden sands and hospitable inns, this is a superb base from which to enjoy the delightful north east coast of Scotland.
