It had all the facilities we needed and was very clean. We also liked the proximity to the town. However, the reason that we have not given full marks to 'comfort' is because we found the sofas in the lounge to be uncomfortable, as the backs were not high enough to rest your head on.

There had apparently been a problem the previous week with the oven and it was being replaced as we arrived. We found somewhere to park up and went for a walk to allow the workmen to finish the job. When we returned they had gone but the old oven and packaging had been left on the patio outside the back door. I managed to move it further away into the garden area but it was there all week (not the nicest view through the patio door) The hob was very dirty. It seems this was also to have been replaced but the wrong size had been sent. This could be the reason it wasn't cleaned but I have to say the build up of grease that I had to scrub off was from more than a week or two. Bread bin, microwave and fridge were also in need of cleaning before use. Bathroom, bedroom and living areas were all clean and well presented. Previous holiday makers had reported problems with the tv remote, doorbell not working, fridge/freezer needing defrosting all of which still needed attention. That said the property is in a very convenient spot, nicely furnished and well equipped and we had a lovely week despite some very wet weather.

  • "This is a lovely holiday house and very well equipped."

However on our 4th night there, at 9.45 pm while we were playing a card game, a very angry neighbour knocked on the door and complained that we were making too much noise and had disturbed him the previous evening by returning at 11.30 pm and staying up late. We had had no idea that the noise level would have been so audible to him. For the rest of the week we kept conversation to a minimum inside the house, and went to bed early. The house accommodates six comfortably, and 6 people on holiday are likely to make some noise. I am 67 years old and I and my husband were holidaying with other family members. I think it is fair to say we made a normal amount of noise for people on holiday. I completely understand that this could be annoying for neighbours if the building structure allows for noise to carry. This incident rather spoilt our holiday as we were upset at the thought of enraging the neighbour. I think at the point of booking it should be made clear that holidaymakers will need to be quiet inside the house and go to bed early. Had this been the case I would have booked another property. We did receive written requests to respect neighbours when I had paid the balance due and there was an instruction for no outdoor noise after 10 pm in the booklet on arrival at the house, both of which we thought we complied with. But I think we needed the information before we booked. I have stayed in holiday cottages for all of my adult life in a range of settings and have never encountered this problem before, as I and my family are considerate and do not make excessive noise. However, people on holiday are there to relax and enjoy themselves, which we found difficult to do whilst at the property after the incident with the neighbour. The house is excellent, but the sound of holidaymakers obviously is a nuisance to at least one neighbour, which is a shame for both sets of people. This needs to be flagged up before people book.

About the location

CONWY

Llandudno 5 miles; Betws-y-Coed 16 miles.

Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is without doubt world famous for its historical and architectural heritage, yet at the heart of the town lies a hub of bustling activity. Alongside its ancient festivals and fairs, musical recitals, galleries and historical attractions, there is an array of specialist shops, restaurants and hotels. Built for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, Master James of St George's design, Conwy Castle remains one of the most outstanding achievements of medieval military architecture. The distinctive, elongated shape, with its two barbicans, eight massive towers and a great bow-shaped hall was perhaps determined by the narrow rocky outcrop on which the castle stands. The town is proud of its historic traditions and celebrates its past by retaining many of these in its annual festivals, events and fairs, including the Honey fair, Seed fair and Gwledd Conwy Feast in October, along with other musical events throughout the year. Conwy is the perfect base for exploring the dramatic Snowdonia National Park, walking unspoilt sandy beaches, or taking in the wonderful scenery on your doorstep. Also within reach are the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, which has the longest zip wire in Europe, and Surf Snowdonia is just six miles away.
