  • "I am reluctant to say how GOOD this cottage is , as others will want to book it , making it more difficult for us to go back !"

    The owner took our previous comments on a couple of things , and corrected them to a high standard . The cottage is warm , welcoming , comfortable , and has everything you could need , including being close enough to the city centre to walk in , yet incredibly quiet and peaceful . What more could you ask for ? A third visit would be wonderful .

    2 bedrooms comfortable beds and settees. Cosy real fire, large kitchen with massive cooking range. Good Wi-Fi nice bathroom with shower and bath. Good local shops Costa and pubs. Downstairs toilet and near the railway station. Excellent for summer as well.

    We feel truly blessed to have stayed in such a wonderful magical house. Every little thing was magic...the woodburner, the comfy beds, the sumptuous sofa!!!! The fantastic kitchen with every utensil imaginable. It couldn't have come at such a special time for us. I lived in Chester for many years and went to Chester College to study art. Many years later I finally settled in London after Uni. I came last week home to visit my family (my mum is very poorly) and its the first time I have hired a place to stay. It was such a blessing to have a place to yourself and not be a burden to the family. We completely forgot to fill in the visitor book...however I did the Sykes questionaire this morning. I would probably have filled in the whole book with how wonderful your place is. If I could buy a house right now...I would buy your house with everything in it and never leave it hahahaha. Best wishes to you and your family Charles, and thank you so much for sharing your home with us.

  • "I have been booking cottages for my family for the past 30 years but this one is my favourite!"

    It has lots of charm, character and original features but the owners have cleverly added a modern bathroom, downstairs toilet and modern kitchen so you have the luxury you need but it is married up so well and compliments the original features. The location is quiet but you are within walking distance of Chester, so it really has the best of both worlds! We had a fantastic stay. The owners were friendly and helpful when we emailed with questions. Such a lovely place. We were sad to leave! We definitely want to go back!

  • "The property was pretty much as we were expecting in terms of facilities and furnishings given the information in the listing."

    What was exceptional was how quiet and peaceful the location was so close to the city centre. Super shower, extremely comfortable and warm property, handy Co op 2 mins away and good access to limitless dog walking routes. We would definitely look to re book when visiting Chester again.

    Everything needed in accommodation that we required. Just outside Chester but an easy walk into town centre or along the canal , plenty of dog friendly pubs too . Nice to explore some of Wales too .

    Local convenience store vey close for immediate needs. Good location for reaching North Wales and despite local restrictions in the Wirral and Liverpool, due to the Coronovirus we had a very good holiday.

  • "Large, quaint property in good location."

    The double bed and seating in the lounge was fairy uncomfortable for us. The cleanliness let the property down e.g. not vacuumed in some areas, visibly dirty switches, walls and kitchen cupboards, dust and cobwebs on the light fittings. We complained to the owner and cleaners called us and then came in and cleaned the areas that we discussed over the phone. We were contacted by the cleaner and asked if ok we said yes as we didn't want anyone else coming in to the property due to the current situation. The property should have been re-inspected and had a thorough clean, as if these basic things are missed what else was there that we couldn't see. This caused stress/worry due to the current covid 19 situation and really spoilt what could have been a lovely break.

    I am extremely sorry to hear your holiday was spoilt. The issues you raised to me by email were immediately addressed by my local manager to your apparent satisfaction, and she re-inspected the property. A full re-clean could have been conducted but would have required you to move out. Lessons have been learnt from these errors by our normally excellent cleaning contractor. Apologies again.     Beautiful traditional cottage with modern facilities , a pretty front garden and courtyard . Would definitely recommend staying here and we would love to return . Perfect spot for Chester Zoo less than 10 minutes by car and easy access to city centre . David , Tania and dachshund Scamp .

    We have just returned from a lovely weeks family holiday The house is cozy, thoughtfully presented and very well equipt We loved the traditional features The wood burning stove was a treat on a cold damp day The house is in an excellent location The lovely garden and court yard are ideal There are birds, squirrels and bats It is a 15 minute walk into the centre of Chester Its well worth walking the walls We also went to Llandudno, Llangollen and Iron Bridge There are so many lovely places near by We would highly recommend staying here and we would love to come back and stay again

  • "We had a very comfortable and peaceful stay in this charming house in Chester."

    The house has alot of original period charm whilst being stylishly updated with all modern conveniences. There is an extremely pretty front garden and a secluded courtyard to the rear. We loved the local shops - butcher, fishmonger, deli, greengrocer, as well as Coop and Sainsbury's, all very convenient. The town centre and station are walking distance which made getting around very easy. There's lots to do in the area and we had no difficulty entertaining our teenagers!

In traditional black and white Tudor style, 2 Ashby Place is a beautiful semi-detached cottage, well in keeping with its location within walking distance of the centre of the historic city of Chester and local rail and bus stations. Offering character accommodation for up to four people, it is perfect for a romantic couple's city retreat, or a getaway with family or friends to taste the delights of Cheshire and the Welsh borders. Arriving at this hidden gem down a quiet cobbled cul-de-sac, step past the front garden into the hallway, and hang up your coats before exploring your lovely surroundings. Take a seat in the sitting room, with the woodburning stove offering a homely feel when it’s cold outside or open the French doors out to the private courtyard in the warmer spring and summer days.
