The cottage is well positioned to explore North Wales, Anglesey and Snowdonia. Whilst feeling remote it is close to shops and restaurants. The cottage itself is lovely and very comfortable, for taller people beware of the low ceilings but at 6ft I found I managed fine.

Hi George and Peter, Thanks for your comments. The frying handle had a loose screw, so apologies that it wasn't spotted. As for the stain, it appeared to be a small yellowish mark and hadn't penetrated the mattress topper. we regularly launder the mattress topper, so again this had not been spotted by our cleaner. Thanks for the feedback, and your otherwise favourable comments. Property Owner

The only downside for us was the tricky stairs up to the mezzanine bedroom which if you have mobility issues of any sort are not suitable. Every thing else was superb with excellent hosts. This charming little cottage was very well equipped and felt remote whilst also having easy access to the local area. The Shippon proved to be a great base for day trips to Snowdonia and Anglesey, although it is well worth exploring the hills which are right on the doorstep of the Shippon! Our hosts Andrew and Sarah were very friendly and happy to give us information on the local area. We also brought two horses with us, and we couldn't have asked for better equestrian facilities! Stables with yard, tack room, paddock, all right outside the cottage! Andrew was even kind enough to lend us some equipment such as wheel barrows, buckets, spades etc to help look after the horses :) This beautiful location is really special and we will definitely be returning!

Also the steps up to the bedroom are very steep, again j think this should have been highlighted. The owners were friendly and the location perfect. We were however informed that we had paid for 7 nights by the owners who wondered why we were only staying until Tuesday. We thought we had paid for 3 nights, selecting 3 in the menu. I am dissapointed to know that Sykes charged us for the full week when it clearly stated we were to check out after 3. There should be a lower price surely for less nights and we were under the impression that this would be the case. If not it should clearly state it. The owners kindly offered us the Shippon for the full week but we had not packed for this etc. but did stay an extra night. Therefore we feel that we are out of pocket for 3 nights that we did not know we had bought.

About the location

Llandudno 5 miles; Betws-y-Coed 16 miles.

Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is without doubt world famous for its historical and architectural heritage, yet at the heart of the town lies a hub of bustling activity. Alongside its ancient festivals and fairs, musical recitals, galleries and historical attractions, there is an array of specialist shops, restaurants and hotels. Built for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, Master James of St George's design, Conwy Castle remains one of the most outstanding achievements of medieval military architecture. The distinctive, elongated shape, with its two barbicans, eight massive towers and a great bow-shaped hall was perhaps determined by the narrow rocky outcrop on which the castle stands. The town is proud of its historic traditions and celebrates its past by retaining many of these in its annual festivals, events and fairs, including the Honey fair, Seed fair and Gwledd Conwy Feast in October, along with other musical events throughout the year. Conwy is the perfect base for exploring the dramatic Snowdonia National Park, walking unspoilt sandy beaches, or taking in the wonderful scenery on your doorstep. Also within reach are the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, which has the longest zip wire in Europe, and Surf Snowdonia is just six miles away.
