  • "Lovely house in a nice location, very comfortable."

Owners very pleasant came to welcome us. They had left some lovely chocolate brownies, pint of milk, some coffee sachets and tea bags as a welcoming bonus! Only one thing : the boiler is very noisy and comes on through the night so earplugs may be good if you’re a light sleeper . Otherwise PERFECT!

  • "It is a lovely cottage in a tranquil village—everything one could need, and for a rural area, good Wi-Fi—5."

5 Mbps. Low-level flypasts from the RAF (Hawks out of RAF Valley and Leeming, Typhoons out of RAF Coningsby, and even visiting Drakens out of Teeside) are great fun. The village pub is an easy walk, even for me at 72. It is very dog-friendly and has a good selection of beers.

Only 2 miles outside Malton itself, plus lots of other nice places nearby only a short drive away. If taking your dog, note that the front door opens directly on to the parking area and driveway (perfectly safe) but beyond that my dog liked to wander off for a lap of the owners' house and garden, so you need to keep an eye on them as they will be out of sight!

Could do with more basic kitchen utensils, spatula , pair of scissors, salt and pepper, non stick sauce pan, kitchen roll and tea towel should all be provided. Try opening a packet of something with a knife contents go everywhere. The blinds are a pain. One in bedroom does not retract. Beds rather cheap and hard and so are pillows. Seating not comfortable and no cushions for outside chairs. No power point near mirror for hair dryer.

Beautiful, clean, well equipped, cosy cottage in a great position for exploring N Yorks Moors & Howardian Hills. We booked a last minute stay over Easter week, welcoming communication from owners who despite being away themselves over the holiday, popped over to say hello & goodbye on either side. Would not hesitate to recommend The Bothy to anyone looking to visit the area, many fabulous restaurants & foodie pubs within a short drive and close enough to visit the N Yorks Coast. Thank You Rob & Claire for a wonderful break.
