“I am extremely dissapointed with Sykes cottage and will shortly post this widely on social media, Trip advisor etc.”

    ...

The property was marketed as having TV, but there was not television reception at all for the whole week. I called up Sykes cottage stating this, and perhaps we could get an ex gratia discount for future bookings or something to that ilk. The call agent mentioned that any compensation will need to come from the owner, which we did not want as the owner was good and we didn't want to deprive him of income. We were not even asking for compensation from Sykes, just perhaps an ex gratia discount for future booking which will be good for all and encourage us to use Sykes again. But the agent was extremely inflexible and could not offer us anything from Sykes and just could claim against the owner if we wanted to pursue it which we didn't. I have no issue with the cottage owner, but a total disappointment with Sykes, initially with the misleading listing which showed that there was TV, and then the total inflexibility and bad customer experience following the call which has now caused me to be extremely annoyed.

About the location

FARNDALE

Kirkbymoorside 9 miles; Helmsley 13 miles; Pickering 17 miles.

The beautiful valley of Farndale is a patchwork quilt of fields divided by ancient dry stone walls and narrow winding lanes. It is most famous for its spectacular display of daffodils, once reputed to have been planted by the monks of the Rievaulx Abbey. The attractive market towns of Kirkbymoorside and Pickering, and the picturesque villages of Hutton-le-Hole and Lastingham are all within easy reach and are well worth the visit. Walkers are also well provided for with the magnificent scenery and countryside of the surrounding National Park – a great location at any time of the year.
