  • "A lovely warm, welcoming and spotlessly clean property."

Very well equipped with ample room for a family of 5. It has a great garden for family and four legged friends and we enjoyed watching the visiting wildlife. There is outdoor seating to both the front and rear of the property to make the most of sunny days. It is located on a quiet road but within easy reach of lots of local attractions, pubs and beaches. The Cinder Track is a short distance from the cottage and ideal for dog walkers, so quiet and peaceful. The hosts can be easily contacted but are not at all intrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday!

Ideal for a short travel to Filey, Whitby and Scarborough. Local pubs were excellent and the Cinder track walk along the coastline was a short distance away. We could see the sea from the bedroom windows. The house was immaculately clean and had everything you could need and it was very comfortable for five adults. The owners Sharon and Nigel were so helpful and the information pack that was sent prior to the visit was super helpful. This is one of the best holiday cottages that we have been in. In the kitchen there were crumbs near the toaster. Ovev/baking trays were dirty &also the chopping boards. The conservatory needed cleaning ( cobwebs). The main bathroom shower head bracket was broken. Some of the furniture looked a bit tired & in need of updating. The freezer compartment was too small for a family.

Thanks for your constructive feedback, we are disappointed that you were not happy with some items in the kitchen - to date we have always had rave reviews. The shower head has been fixed already and we will look at replacing the freezer but we do say in the guest information that we send out in advance that it is just a half size freezer. Thanks again. About the location

CLOUGHTON

Scarborough 4.8 miles; Ravenscar 6.3 miles; Robin Hood's Bay 11.6 miles; Whitby 14.8 miles.

Cloughton lies just under five miles north of Scarborough, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Home to old cottages lining the main street and more modern developments behind, the village boasts an eclectic mix of contemporary and traditional to bring a charming atmosphere to all its visitors, as well as offering a welcoming farm shop where you can pick up any essentials and two pubs on the main street and two on the outskirts. Close by is the popular 'Cinder Track', a disused 23 mile long railway track, that's now used for walking, cycling and horse riding. There is easy access to the Cleveland Way, a long distance trail that hugs the cliff top as it winds its way to Hayburn Wyke, a rocky cove with a waterfall and inn, Robin Hood's Bay and beyond to the north and south to Scarborough. Popular since Victorian times, this vibrant seaside town of Scarborough retains many of its original fine buildings, parks and gardens, as well as its historic castle which overlooks the town. North Bay and South Bay provide two superb stretches of beautiful, golden sandy beaches, popular with families and small children. There are a number of child-friendly activities and many excellent visitor attractions for grown-ups too, including the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough Spa and Scarborough Open Air Theatre for live music. There are plenty of outdoor activities within easy reach too, with golf courses, coastal walks along the Cleveland Way, stunning cycle routes such as the old railway to Whitby, beautiful sailing and championship quality surfing, offering something for every taste. Ideally situated for touring both the coast and countryside, Cloughton is an ideal base for a fun-filled break at any time of year.
